What if want to change the cylinder, and you’ve removed it from the door, but you don’t have the key?

hi there, I have the same type of lever and I'm hoping to do exactly what you're doing... Dan you please provide the part number of the replacement that you've used to make the replacement?

Hey Wayne, I bought some Schlage levers similar to these and they have quite a bit of play in them, they don't sit completely horizontal, they're kind of drooping. Te action on them is fine otherwise. Any ideas on how to remedy that?

I have an exterior door lock that the cylinder has gone bad, or frozen up. My problem is that the existing cylinder length is shorter than anything I am finding at Home Depot or Lowes. Even if I go to a whole new set, they do not currently fit my door holes. What to do? Is there somewhere else to get them? Do I have to cut the door? Any help will be appreciated.

I bought a kwikset lever knob that has a pinhole for one of those flat screwdriver like keys. Bathroom style key. Seems like the cylinder would come out and be replace with an actual cylinder with actual key. Can you please confirm this or will it not work?

That's not a lever lock . That's a lever-shaped key in knob lock . A lever lock has no cylinder, it's an entirely different old mechanism where the key bit lifts a set of levers to exact heights inside the lock .
