This is modular adapter connector which has built-in system for orientation of device, so there is no need for counter-nut.

But what's the benefit over the counter-nut?
Sure, a bit easyer to align, I guess. But screwing onto the thread?

Screwing is generally the same, you screw it against the counter-nut or against end of the thread on device/connector. Many customers have troubles with regular counter nuts. It is hard to align device, it is hard to tighten nut enough. Sometimes if you overtighten it, it is hard to unscrew it. And similar problems. That is reason why we made connectors with built-in positioning so no counter-nut is needed. Of course, regular modular connectors are still available.
