Yes that is true which is helpful. There are a lot of people who come in for conferences and events that don't use the Disney app though, so it is strange that Marriott wouldn't have all that information in their own app and for their members who stay. But we've seen similar issues at other Marriott hotels, so it seems to be an issue across the board for them. 🤷♀️

I hate when you book a room and don't know about extra hidden fees until you get there, and now you're locked into staying there or fighting for a refund you may or may not get. That really sucks the joy out of a vacation for sure. We have never stayed at the Swan & Dolphin but we've seen it so many times in vloggers' videos because of its convenience and reasonable price. It seems like a "fine enough" hotel if you were traveling somewhere basic/generic. But for them to be cashing in on their "Disney connection" so hard, they really need to sprinkle just a little magic on the place. It really just feels dated and drab to me. Like the kind of hotel you would stay in in a business trip to Omaha Nebraska or something. Not a hotel for the most exciting vacation of your whole year at at Disney event!
Totally agree! It was very drab overall... the lobby and outside are pretty, but the rest of the hotel does feel very basic and dated. The quick service food location we went to that night (the food we took up to the room) reminded us a bit of Captain D's in the 90s. 😬😂 One thing we've noticed about Marriotts (even Gaylord Palms) is that they seem to make things sound much bigger than they are and they aren't completely forthright all the time about what something actually is. 😕 That's exactly what happened with the buses to the parks... they are advertised in ways that make you think they are basically the Disney resort buses, and they definitely are not.
@@AdventureLeighs I wish you would do an entire story time and include all your experiences at Swan & Dolphin. We've never stayed there and never been impressed with it in other vloggers' videos. But after seeing what you guys had to say, it's definitely OUT for us!
Thank you Annette! We really wanted to like it (and it is a pretty resort outside and in the main lobby), but unfortunately it just didn't live up to what they promised. It wouldn't have been as bad if the management had handled it with more consideration and kindness... we really tried to make the most of it but it was just a really bad experience. 🫤
Very true. It is confusing that they are advertised as "Disney's Swan & Dolphin Resort", so we understand why people don't realize that it actually is a Marriott with some similar perks as the Disney owned hotels, but definitely not the same!
S&D actually have to pay to use the Disney name since they are on Disney property. I completely understand how people can get confused but definitely doing research before your stay helps before booking.
