It is truly amazing how much you can work high-quality chalk paint like AS. Don't settle for cheap imitations, they are impossible to 'jab' into corners, leave bad brush streaks, and you can really botch up your project. Beautiful job!
And don't forget: for the 2nd coat, you can use a bit of water to make the paint go on smoother. Use bottled water, not from the tap. You can either gently dip your loaded brush into a dish of water, or use a spray bottle & just spritz a little onto your loaded brush.
For a smoother finish you can just use a very fine grit sanding sponge and rub the brush marks down, discounting the need for water! I used to do that trick as well and then found it unnecessary. But ultimately, the point of chalk paint is for an old, aged finish and this is how paint was Lon ago. For a perfectly smooth finish I suggest using oil based paint that will settle flat without the ridges of brush marks.
All I did was clean it to remove dust and dirt. I used chalk paint which adheres to absolutely anything, so there is no need to strip or sand the existing surface before painting. Hope that helps!
Yes, absolutely! Chalk paint adheres to any type of surface, from rough brick to plastic! It's a wonderful supply to make IKEA pieces a little bit more personable/special. Good luck with your project!

No primer needed with chalk paint since it adheres to absolutely any surface - even metal or plastic!
Could you use this chalk paint on ikea furniture. All my stuff is so dark I would love to lighten it up.

Hi Shien! I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I mixed Old White and Duck Egg for the color on this chair.
