Big problem is Mattel allows for scalpers to hog up the RLC cars. As a club member if you don’t get a release within minutes, then you are left to the eBay scalpers. Mattel needs to allow a buying window for each email for at least two days. Being a 9.99 a year club price is not worth it. This being left to getting a car on eBay.
It certainly doesn't help that they allow 5 memberships per household. Unfortunately by doing that its basically Mattel encouraging scalper behavior. At the end of the day they only care about moving units and making money, not the actual collectors that keep this hobby alive!
The scalpers are the ones who ruined the RLC membership and are ruining the hobby in general. They wipe out Target & Walmart before they even hit the shelves.
I think I've been in the RLC for about 6 months and I've already decided it's not worth the frustration on my health. Trying to get a casting I like is impossible. I don't give a rat's rear about exclusivity, I just like cool cars. I haven't gotten anything out of it but negative, so I'll be canceling. Thanks Mattel.
Sorry to hear you've had a negative experience. I personally have had really good success this year. I've found that as long as you are there right at launch time, its almost a guaranteed checkout for anything over 25k (although I know the site is super glitchy). I know that doesn't really work if you're at work, but working from home has made it quite easy for me. Definitely too many people using bots and the like that take away the fun of it. Especially when most of them are just there to flip the car and make $15, meanwhile the next guy has to pay $25 over retail. Mattel doesn't want to lose that artificial demand of having numbered cars. They could easily make enough for everyone but I think theyre too scared to do it.

RLC is one big pos line targeted for fomo collectors.
