At the bottom end there is a very narrow strip. I think you could attach a small cardboard wall to it with a rubber band if you want to play half-blind chess. So that the piece is mainly only seen from one side. Hmm. Could be a try if you have fun with it.
Hi ! I haven't used it enough until the battery depleted. I did use it sometimes without charging and got a good use out of it. It's a lithium battery, and since your device is new; you may want to deplete the battery and then fully charge it and store it half charged. It may extend the battery use over time. you can also use it while charging and use a power bank if necessary.
@seeh_chess batteries aren't meant to be easily swapped on this, I haven't seen any latch on this for batteries replacement, the control unit (Black bar) may need to be dismantled. As for the battery life, it should last long if stored half charged.
I wish i didn’t see this video. It made me buy the board an i regret it. Recognition is crap. Not been able to finish an entire game without regocnition issues and a return is not accepted by chessnut. I like to warn everybody about this company, opening the box means no return. All webshops in the eu do a refund in thw weeks. I wanted to return the same day as receiving it.
How are you facing issues with the piece recognition ? Ensure that there's no electrical interference. Don't keep anything magnetic near the board or other electronic devices. Keep a distance between your phone and board.

Hello, yes you can also use the app to save/load PGN files and play over the board. You can import PGN files.

The battery is not user replaceable! Chessnut puts all parts the “hard” way--soldered!
