The victim of the rape in Exeter never fully recovered, and very sadly she died four years after the attack. Jakub Tomczak was convicted and sentenced to 18 years (I think a later Crimewatch episode covered how he was caught.) He was subsequently transferred to prison in Poland and a review of his sentence by the Polish courts saw it increased to 22 years.
Zafar Iqbal was finally arrested in Pakistan in 2017. He was extradited, convicted in 2022 of the murder of his wife, Naziat Khan, and sentenced to life with a minimum of 19 years. He will be 76 when he becomes eligible to apply for release.
