Not really, even though he kicked out the main force and the leader, even though he and his wife kicked Sepultura's manager, even though he constantly refuses to tour back with the guys who created Sepultura, we know that Sepultura was so great because of Andreas contribution that was very important.
Krisiun has released 11 records outside of Brazil, and are quite well known in North America and Europe. They did the Summer Slaughter tour 2 years ago here.

andreas kept it real far as the roots of Brazil and ethnicity
Cool interview. I agree with what Andreas said regarding timing but it was more than that. That original line up was special and as a front man Max was a big shoe to fill. I saw them during their tour with Ministry and the power they had on stage was awesome to experience. As far as a name change that ship has sailed. Greene has been the singer of Sepultura longer than Max was. Cavalera Conspiracy is the closest we'll ever get to that sound again.
Also, i think that although nirvana and the grunge movement had a negative effect on thrash, it created an environment where new forms of extreme metal came to the forefront. Eg death metal, grind, black metal, industrial etc. Bad time for thrash, but a good time for experimental extreme metal.
Alecson I agree, a lot of the 80s metal bands (e.g. Iron Maiden and Judas Priests) shot themselves in the foot. Like JP and IM got new singers which lost popularity for both bands. Maiden still made bad albums with Bruce in the 90s but JP's Painkiller was still good.
There were good Metal bands coming up on the early 90s and veterans released great albuns as well, however MTV noticed the power they have gained and saw the Heavy Metal couldn't be a sellable product for the masses, so they thought: Lets replace it for something cheaper and polemic. Then Grunge was born.
Alecson It also reached a point where any ground-breaking became increasingly difficult, as creatively, metal had covered so much ground by then. Growth was becoming rarer, thus the stagnation bored some people. It took a while before "The Gothenburg Sound" hit The States too.
Angra plays sold out gigs and festivals in Mexico, Japan and all over Europe, Hibria recorded a live DVD in Japan, Krisiun and Nervosa aren't unknown to the metal audiences in North America and Europe, Almah played Progpower USA 2015, Andre Matos formed a finnish band with Timo Tolkki but yeah, sure, Sepultura is the only metal band to come out of Brazil.
Man the only thing i don't understand, who left the band??Max and Igor, right?(look at the interviews,Max told a billion times,he regreted living sepultura)noboby kicked them out, that's it.Sepultura belongs to Andreas that's all folks.Max doesn't sing well anymore(and i understand, gutural voice is not easy) and doesn't play anymore.he has his own musicians.real Sepultura will never ever come back again.period.
I think there were Black Metal bands in the 80's who were even one of the first to wear corpse paint from Brazil according to Fenriz if I am not mistaken.
The Electrocist Sarcófago maybe, but there were a bunch of black metal bands in the 80's and 90's in Brazil, Mystifyer is another one (the founder and leader is a black guy and I believe he claimed he started using corpse paint before the Norwegians).
So sick of all these haters saying that Sepultura isn't Sepultura without Max and Igor. Yes those two guys played a huge part in the band, but when they first recorded Bestial Devastation they didn't know how to tune their guitars and were reading out of a dictionary to create lyrics. When Andreas arrived they finally learned how to write songs and English lyrics so they could have real international appeal. While Sepultura kept on evolving their sound and trying to stay fresh (sometimes I agree they tried to change it too much, on albums like Against and A-Lex), Max basically kept playing Roots over and over again on the first three Soulfly albums and then has settled into the same thrash/groove stuff ever since the Prophecy album. Sepultura has always tried to stay different. Max keeps things the same. Sepultura is definitely not Max and Igor. Never has and never will be.
Funny how I use to think south America was of primitive way of living & were obscured in there technology low behold sepultura came with fierce vengeance Force of original metal!!🤘
I will always respect Kisser for his contributions in Sepultura, he defined the sound of the band, his soloing is amazing, and he with the Cavaleras composed epic masterpieces, what I can't respect is the fact that he took advantage of a tragedy to betray who was his friend, kinda brother just to become the new leader of the business.
I don't think he was taking advantage of Max, but it was a situation that was very very poorly conducted. They made bad choices from both sides, but I don't believe it was in bad intention
Kisser is awesome! Really love the last 5 Sepultura albums. They developed into a Proggressive-Thrash Band with great concept albums (Dante, A-Lex, Mediator). Not a big fan of Roots, Against, Nation or Roarback.
Sepultura doesn't exist anymore. Not without Max or Igor. There isn't a shred of sepultura left. It doesn't sound like sepultura at all. Just change the name guys, it might help you. Expectations can ruin anything. Expecting Sepultura, and listening to what it's currently being released, leads to disappointment. If it's called something else, expectations are reset.
Paulo Brasil I 100% Agree with you! This band that they have is good but it's NOT Sepultura I saw them 10 times before 96 and it was amazing! Fuck Andreas and Paulo! Give the trademark back to the family that deserves it. If you called it something else I might support you but never while you hold the CAVALERAS away from there brainchild. Everyone support CAVALERA CONSPIRACY AND THE RETURN TO ROOTS TOUR!
Paulo Brasil - Sepultura Will always bear the name Sepultura as long as the band continues. If you're judging a band solely by its name, you've got issues.
ABSO-FUCKIN'-LUETLEY! Andreas should quit using "Sepultura" and just rename the damn band. Sepultura is dead. Same feeling with Pantera, Dime and Vinnie formed Damageplan when Phil was being a dick.
A real brazilian metal hero!
All my respect for Andreas.
Ooooopaaa!... Greetings from Brazil!
Andeas Kisser was the most under-rated member of Sepultura. His leads added so much dimension the music.
Not really!
Uhm, no man hahaha, no way he is underrated, he is a fuckin’ beast
Not really, even though he kicked out the main force and the leader, even though he and his wife kicked Sepultura's manager, even though he constantly refuses to tour back with the guys who created Sepultura, we know that Sepultura was so great because of Andreas contribution that was very important.
Too bad he couldn't fucking choose a proper vocalist for Sepultura and destroyed the band.
This man is an absolute LEGEND. So skilled, influential, and all in all a great, down to earth guy. Awesome vid.
Very cool interview, Kisser seems like a very down to earth guy.
I think Andreas stopped aging after 1996
This channel is growing by the minute. Great job Sam, again !
Sepultura appears twice in the chart at the beginning and I don't think it was a mistake.
Awesome. Hail Sepultura. Thank you, Banger TV.
if you need another extreme band to get into from Brazil....check out Krisiun
Krisiun, Korzus, Violator, Sarcofago, Nervosa, Witch Hammer, Chakal, Dorsal Atlantica, Torture Squad, Amen Corner... and more, more..
Project 46 is comming!
Andreas is the realest! respect, brother!
Andreas is the Boss!!!!

very good guitar player
I like when people outside talks about our metal scene. Greetings o/
Totally relate to the hating Brazil part. I'm Brazilian and I've always felt the place is really closed for different minded people.
Obrigado por esclarecer Andreas... / thanks for clarifying...
Nice interview, looking forward to the Sepultura lock horns tomorrow!!!!
Think it's unfair to say Speultura is the only brazilian band that broke international success. I'd say Angra is a pretty well acknowledged band too.
thank you, Sepultura!

Love this guy. One of the best Metal guitar players ever.
MITO
Can nott wait for tomorrow!
Legendary guitarist from a legendary band
BRASIL PORRA
Drinking game: 1 sip every time Andreas says "you know"
Excellent interview, thanks!
Andreas allways awesome!!
they were serval thrash bands that came out before sepultura released their album. one example vulcano
Yeah but they SUCKED BIG TIME Sepultura was the only worthy band in 89- 96
O Andreas fala "you know" pra substituir o "meu" kskkskskkss
Seria mais um "tá ligado?".
Nirvana isn't the one to blame for the decay of metal popularity. I blame MTV and its attempt to set pop trends worldwide.
Also, i think that although nirvana and the grunge movement had a negative effect on thrash, it created an environment where new forms of extreme metal came to the forefront. Eg death metal, grind, black metal, industrial etc. Bad time for thrash, but a good time for experimental extreme metal.

the artist formally known as craig lastname so.... basically Death metal was created thanks to grunge.... wtf hahaha
Great interview!
damn. he's a very well spoken dude.
Sam põe tradução aí nos vídeos.

Korzus is a great band too ruclips.net/video/y39yXh_IJ6Q/видео.html
They never said they were the only band; they just said they were the biggest.
Not to mention Sarcófago which practically created the Black Metal along with oher bands.
The difference is that Sepultura where gods among men at his prime...they can easyly be named the best thrash metal band ever imo.
The only band Metallica feared.. The original Sepultura.
No people in his own words in his book max left on his own he states that he should taken his time and should have talked to the guys more period.
anyone care to tell me what's the brand of andreas' eye wear
Why don't you guys talk about Angra, Shaman and other brazilian bands??
O público internacional do Angra é nichado no Japão, eles não são tão conhecidos quanto o sepultura.
Alguém coloca uma legenda em português, por favor!!
REUNITE!
God bless Andreas Kisser
Tem que botar legendas em português nesse canal. Obrigado
Valeu Kisser
ANDREAS VC É MÁSSA DEMAIS
Real deal👊😎👊
Who else agrees with Nirvana comment!? I think rap mixing with metal change it all
so... we have 2 seps! the cavalera brothers and andreas sep's, fuck! can we just enjoy the music?! please?!
Liebe
i saw dis band born in BR
What is the question Sam meant to ask, but Andreas asked him not to?
He was jokingly referring to "why is Sepultura the only metal band to make it from Brazil?"
But he did end up giving a pretty great answer.
BANGER On that subject, I know it is not the same but, isn't Krisiun a well known band outside Brazil? Now I'm curious.
There's Krisiun, there's Angra, now Nervosa is growing but no one is even close to the level of success Sepultura achieved.
I think there were Black Metal bands in the 80's who were even one of the first to wear corpse paint from Brazil according to Fenriz if I am not mistaken.

at 8:41 he says sixtyfart
Scrolled down in the comments just to check if anyone else noticed. I feel like a child for laughing at this. :(
I wonder what they would sound like if Wagner Moura Lamounier stayed with them.
🤘🏽🇦🇷 Sepultura es Andreas!..

"and then nirvana came"
Kirk Hammet likes this. And Kirk hammet says: Nice fucking interview.
This guy look like abbath
A true karaoke band..
Self loathing is a pisser... Especially when it's your own country...
“And then Nirvana came”
Andreas' accent sounds like italian haha
lol vaccination... speaking of metal
And then Nirvana came, lol
he said you know more than 100 times.. i think kisser is infected by you know disease
Sepultura died in 1996, move on
Euro I like both timeframes and singers. It’s you that should move on.
