Replace Diverter Valve Cartridge on a Vaillant Ecotec 832

- I replace the inner cartridge of the diverter valve on a Vaillant Ecotec Boiler.
If the water gets dirty, this is the part that will appear to wear out first.
You can buy cartridge replacement kits online, there are several different tools you can get with the kits. I chose the kit that contained the clamp with the red handles.
The replacement cartridge build quality was fine, and I expect it was very similar to the original. I don't expect it to last more than a few years, since this part is a moving part.

Perfectly explained, followed this to the 'T' and no leaks .👍
The best video explaining how to change the diverter valve cartridge on a valiant ecotec pro 28 on youtube,
There are other kits available to do this but i opted for the one in the video, the insert is just £11.50, the cartridge removal pliers are £15.00 easy to buy on ebay uk.
So for a grand total of £26.50 here in the uk i took my time and repaired it with the very clear and simple instructions in this video.
I've no idea of the cost involved in getting a heating engineerin to do this but i have clearly saved lots of money by doing it.
Thanks again it's very much appreciated
£265
Mine was totally loose and rattling, I screwed it back in and now it's quiet again, excellent :D
You've made an old gut very grateful 🙏 I've had a CH man fit 3 of these in the past 10 years. In the morning I'll be having a go...thanks a lot.
This is an update kit arrived within 24hrs no instructions so followed video it was a doddle shows what can be done with a little guidance 😀
Thank you so much for this. I'd never have imagined I could fix the problem myself when I saw the boiler was leaking, but the video is so clear and detailed I managed without a hitch.
Thanks!
Great video , all other video tell you to change the Diverter valve which cost a boom ,well done and thank you for this clear step by step video.
Awesome video, saved me a new valve, I had hot CH but luke warm DHW, all symptoms pointing to a failed diverter valve. From you vid I managed to work out how to get the motor off, then I lubed and worked the valve, check the motor worked ok but putting CH on, reassembled and all was good, looks like the valve was stuck. For information the valve is fully in for CH and fully out for DHW, you can see it moving through the top of the casing, default setting is DHW ie fully out.
Pretty good video thanks
Always grease the 'O' rings with silicon grease, they assist easy removal and if they were to dry out they can become brittle and crack and possibly leak later down the road!
Just done this job following this video, thanks so much 😁👍
Cheers for the help 💪🏻
Brilliant detailed video. Wasn't expecting so much water to piss out once the valve was removed lol. Thanks for putting in the time!
I replace the diverter valve repair kit without this tool quicker and easier
Thanks very much for that, a very useful video 🤙
Thank you very much.
Just wanted to thank you for your video. Amazing
Thank you so so so so so so much for this video couldn't thank you enough
Wicked video and Excellent voice over 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Excellent information
Brilliant video mate , love it , keep it up !
I've got a Vaillant ecotec plus 831 in a hard water area and had the diverter valve replaced a couple of years back for about £250. I've only recently found out about these cartridge replacements, but seriously this is the successor of the boiler I've got and still the same shit problem.
250££
Dankeschön !
Good video, well explained. I helped fit one of these a while back (I'm Gas Safe Registered) to a family member. Vaillant visited today to do the same repair (I'm assuming they only did the cartridge, may have been the whole valve). Disappointed this has failed so soon. Thought it was a high quality appliance. Having second thoughts now.
Mine was about 1 1/2 years old. Its all brand new pipes, radiators, everything. The original diverter is an official part. Brand new. The vaillant get-out clause is they claim your heating pipes are probably rusty. Well ive heard plumbers recommend vaillant on several occasions.
Ours just failed for the first time after 10 years fitted!
@@sbcode I know nothing about plumbing or boilers, but I reckon that brownish residue is rust from the radiators. You may be replacing the pressure sensor next, as I've already done myself (twice). The same brownish/reddish, sandy residue was causing the problem with the pressure sensor. I think it might be a good idea to put some inhibitor in your system.
An ex-coworker of mine was a registered plumber, and he also recommended Vaillant. If your water has lots of dirt in it, I don't think there's anything the best boiler in the world could do. That friction of the dirt on the plastic is going to wear the plastic out eventually.
@@chesshooligan1282 Vaillant used to be a good boiler it is now made with plastic shite and leaks all the time I’m a gas engineer and replace these all the time. The boiler cost isn’t cheap either well over £1000
@@mynameis9739 Good until what year? Which boilers are good now?
Great video, very clear instructions
Thank you very much 👍❤️
Great but I had two problems. First motor was retracted so impossible to reconnect. I put power on and it extended; yippee! Second was lots of sloshing and hot water would not get hot. I had to open the auto bleeder to let air out. Yippee again. Cheers heaps, fellow Aussie.
"motor was retracted", flick on the power for 2 seconds, then swtch off again.
"auto bleeder", i've never needed to manage that. I don't even know what that is.
What a brilliant detailed video👌👍🏼
Great video thanks 😊
Thanks works treat
That’s great
Thank you for sharing!!!👍👍👍
V handy thanks
They just cannot fix the diverter leaking of the low water sensor getting blocked can they
Where can u buy the tool ?...excellent video
Here is the tool : amzn.to/44MMJPQ
But you can get the tool with the part in a kit as well : amzn.to/44OtLZ3
Save soil ⚘ ♥
Do you have to put your boiler in P6 mode before drain down ?
you need a specialist. P6 makes no sense to me. Are you based in UK mainland. Brexit? Good luck finding an honest trades person who may have the time next month.
@@sbcode yeah I’m in Essex,
What model boiler do you have?
Do you not drain the expansion vessel?
Done exactly as I showed on the video
🔥🔥🔥
Where can we buy this spare part? And is it suit for old type of Vaillant “atmoTEC classic”? Thanks your feedback in advance!
See other comments for what to search for. I don't know about the atmoTEC classic. You will need to compare the manufactures manuals to see it it uses the same diverter valve models.
seanwasere ytbe thank you feedback. It seems this boiler is so old. When I look at inside. It is different structures.
👏👏👍
Help, I can't get the motor out, it's jammed. Obviously got the case off though
What is exact name of this shape pliers?
It's simply called, the 'ecotec cartridge tool'.
@@sbcode
No i was asking about olier but now i know its called clip pipe hose release pliers
Boos good night 😴 see u by
handy tip thanks, your cat is a total dude.
Re-lace the whole thing as per manufacturer this is not a genuine part .vaillant kit comes with all the o rings and washers
What is the Clamp type tool called so I can get one, please?
search for 0020020015 or 0020132682 or 'cartridge removal tool' or 'clip pipe hose release pliers' or 'ecotec cartridge tool'
@@sbcode Thanks, mate. I actually found the kit pLUS the tool on eBay, which I purchased.
😀🙏🏼🍑🌸
