    There is no greater impact on tone than practice.

      But when recording tracks you need a great tone. Steve Vai doesn't record with a 200-dollar amp!! In production, everything is less subjective. All of us can sit at home and think.. damn, I have a great tone.

    • @Imfreehowaboutu
      @Imfreehowaboutu 6 месяцев назад +1

      Dynamics and articulation come from the hands. Tone comes from gear.
      No amount of practice will make a V30 sound like a creamback.

    I started with Helix and I'm most comfortable with dialing in sounds on the desktop editor for it, however, I've never been disappointed with a pro capture on the Kemper. If I had to pick one only, it's the Kemper. I can waste hours (HAPPILY) dialing Helix stuff rather than playing, or just pick a profile and be happy that someone else put the work in for a killer tone.

    The company that puts dual NAM (stereo) captures into a guitar pedal is going take the amp simulation pedal market. It might be Two-Notes who gets there first based on what we're seeing with Genome and the company's understanding of the importance of stereo for pedalboard integration. Pedal users don't want effects from Neural DSP. They love their Strymon, Evetnide, EHX, TC, Boss, UA, GFI, Meris, Walrus Audio, EQD, JHS, Keeley, Bondi, Chase Bliss, Hologram, etc. The NAM stereo guitar pedal race is on. There are several companies working on getting such a product to market. When they drop, the entire game will change and the entire amp modeling world will be shaken up and the deck will be re-shuffled.

    The answer is pretty simple to me it's the Head Rush Prime it has autotune for vocals in case you want to sing plus an extra input in case you want to run a mic into it or a base at the same time and the ability to play tracks from a USB card it literally can be your all-in-one One Man Band set up that said as a guitar player only set up I would go with a tonex pedal running into an HX Stomp

    Fractal hands down! The most versatility out of any modeler. Definitely a tweaker’s amp. If you haven’t owned one you don’t know. I’ve had my axe fx 3 for 3 years now and I’m still using it full time and I haven’t even scratched the surface of potential.

      I spent WAY less time tweaking my FM9 getting a tone that I was happy with. I understand that you can much farther tweaking than I have but my point is I didn't have to spend that much time tweaking to get a good tone that I gig with every week. With the Helix and Kemper I never stopped tweaking as I never really had a tone that I was happy with even after buying a bunch of third party patches. I have purchased zero patches for the Fractal .

    I grew up in the 80’s during the shred era, JCM800 era. most of us from that generation as teens were practicing our butts of and wood shedding. We played, we gigged, and I still gig today.
    Today I owned and gig with Helix, Kemper profile Stage, Fractal FM9
    Either one of these will do. It’s all about work flow. I like them all. It’s the fingers that do all the talking bottom line.

But maybe not, I've spent too much time and lost myself in it a few time's and have to take a break. My biggest problem is that I get lag when I add some effect combinations. I really want to love it because it looks so awesome. But I might have to do the 45 day return. I wish I could somehow try a kemper and cortex though.

    I know it’s old hat but I like my Digitech RP500, Rp355 and BP355. The ease of use because of the way they’re laid out is great. I only got them to be an extravagant headphone amp but have used the RP500 in worship with fairly good results. The Lexicon reverbs were a big selling point for me too. The effects sound good.

    • @LaurenceRutherford

      @@LaurenceRutherford Neat! Good to see people other than me still like and have them. I know the amp models are not like a Helix or really good stuff but I still like these. The ease of use without having to scroll in multiple banks was a major selling point and is why I still use it. My church has had a Helix since 2018 and I still haven’t tried it. I know the minute I do, I’ll want to buy one. 😆

      @scotthutchens1556 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@hollywoodactress I think the best series are the RP500, RP1000, RP355, BP 355 (bass version). The one that came out after this series has a tiny window to view plus appears to me to be the type where you have to scroll into different banks just to adjust control settings. That’s why I like my RP500, plus it has a jack for a CD/MP3 player plus Lexicon reverbs. They’re out there,it takes a little hunting. I have the RP200 and BP200 that bought in about 2004 but they’re very primitive by comparison and the reverbs weren’t as good even though there were more selections that I liked like “parking garage” “airport hanger”, stadium/arena, etc. Being user friendly is why I’ve not invested in the real expensive stuff like Helix even though the amp models aren’t as realistic in the Digitech units.

    While I appreciate all of your opinions regarding what sounds best....one thing that needs to be taken into consideration for us...the viewers...is budget. Not all of us play at mega churches, not all of us play lead guitar.....some of us are just plucking away, playing rhythm in a small worship team for a small church, while trying to sing as well. I began my digital journey (just to see if it worked) using a Hotone Ampero (the first one) then upgraded to the Ampero Stomp 2. I've experimented with the Simplifier (I know, not digital)..Then I saved up, and traded in a guitar or 2 to get a Helix Floor. Satisfied with my guitartone, I needed a confidence builder for vocals, so I got a Flamma Corrrector....I was lugging A LOT of stuff back and forth from church.
    Then the Headrush Core released....guitar AND vocals in one smaller pedal? I was hooked...so I traded the Helix for the Core (I got a guitar in the deal too, so it wasn't THAT bad)...I was happy....or so I thought, until I discovered that teh vocal effects are...well....not so good. I just traded the Core for another guitar, and I'm now using an HX stomp, with the Flamma...
    It's been serving me well, but the limitations from what I'm used to in the Floor are obvious...SO....while I'd love to get a QC, or a FM3, etc....Budget won't allow it. Sure I can trade some gear, which I'm trying to do now, to upgrade some things (voicelive would be nice...but again....big)
    I'm just happy that none of your said Fender Tonemaster...

But if I had to have only one modeler, then that would be NI Guitar Rig Pro 7, as I need a platform that has the most flexibility in terms of variety of effects, automated parameter control, component stacking, and routing that lends towards creative sound design. Arturia Pigments 5 is getting there though.

    Capture tech sucks unless you were playing just one genre of music with one amp setting. Quality amp modeling allows you to adjust the amp in a similar manner with similar response to the original. A capture, does not allow you to do the same adjustment, because you will no longer alter the tone in the way the amp would do, by definition it is a snapshot in time.

You might only have the money for one thing that you have to live with and you might not have access to markets to flip it if it doesn't work out... You might have a job that requires a lot of traveling and your time at what we consider a home is effectively zero, so you have to pick something and travel with it and live with it... HW could put cameras in your house and make sure that you never betray the covenant... I'm just spit balling

      The GT1000 restored my interest in modelers. I was pretty shocked at how good it sounded. I wasn’t ready to give up my amps at the time, just being stubborn,but I ended up with a Helix due to buying a used HD500x. I got better recorded tones on that than I could with my real head. That’s when I said, “it’s time to go all the way with this” and got the full Helix like 2 weeks later.

    For Me, I go back and forth between kemper and fm9. Both units are very versatile and work well and both have strengths over the other unit. I do find the work flow on stage a bit more challenging than the head on kemper. Toaster can accomplish nearly anything easily from the front of the unit and I would utilize a hybrid of the editor and the unit. The stage shows the weakness in the editor since the unit is kept on the floor. Likewise the fractal editor is awesome but adjusting on the unit itself is much more difficult. I would say they both have advantages in tones in different areas as well also.

    Alright look, it had been a long few days for me. My brain was toast (and no, I wasn’t on anything of any kind 😏).
    My understanding was I had to choose an all-in-one unit. Either way, I dont make decisions like this cause I’m always using different options to test out new products. I guess I like how great ToneX is. But QC isn’t far behind at all and is way easier to get up and running. So I still dont know 😂

    I find it hilarious to hear "Axe editor is best in class", when the most effective comparative features that drive users from Fractal to Helix are price and editor. HX Edit and the Helix interface drove the visual design of Fender and QC.

      @brettphillips2309 7 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve tried my hardest to like it, but I just can’t. The clones are ok, but far from great. And like a lot of people, I had a lot of problems with the headrush cloud. It didn’t work a lot of the time.
      For the price you pay for the unit, couldn’t justify keeping it. Especially because and fm3 is a grand. That’s what the core use to cost. And now you can get a profiler player for less than the core.
      The headrush is packed full of old stuff and it honestly is really bad.
