Just wanted to say I really appreciate you guys doing this show. There are plenty of things I agree with and disagree with that you guys go over, but overall I think you're really trying to do good for your customers, for your employees and for the industry. I've learned a lot listening to the channel.
I have a shop in Toronto, I’ve been watching your podcasts, you’re making a great improvement for us shop owners. I try to get into the mindset of a plumber or electrician and ask myself “how much would they charge for a job like this?” They’re making more money than us and they don’t have a shop to pay for.
I have to agree. I hairnet upon your podcast and really started to dive into the things you were talking about. I had reached out to Lucas and he looked at our numbers and showed us how upside down we were. I took a lot of his and others advice to change my business for the better. Since I have made drastic changes and it's all been for the better. Thank you for all the support and the things you all do to help others.
There's a few formulas. I guess the easiest place to start is with some generalizations. Not that its ideal to classify techs with the letter system but let's use it here just for reference sake: GS tech: 6-8 hours a day with a lower ELR C tech: 6-8 hours a day B tech: 8-10 hours a day A tech (mechanical): 10-12 hours a day Diagnostician: Time On Service (they should bill hourly, not on set times). Take these averages, and apply them to the number of techs you have. Then take Uber of hours available per day and multiply it by 1.85 or 2 - this adds in a 1.15:0.85 to 1:1 parts to labor ratio. This will give you an approximate idea of your daily sales capacity.
