    Even as a fan of Fromsoft’s work, I was unsure on whether I was going to pick this up or not but this video they released immediately convinced me to play it. The mechs look so sick and the combat looks fun and frantic!

      Please keep in mind the dev play was VERY tame compared to what seasoned AC pilots are going to showcasing/ what you will experience online. Be prepared to be completely blown away come August 25th.

    For anyone interested: Legs are one of the most important parts of your mech, because they determine how much weight your vehicle can carry.
    Your power engine / energy source is on other one as it modifies the amount of energy available, as well as how slow or fast your energy bar will recharge.

    • @Sorain1

      And with this entry, they massively impact how your mech moves and handles to levels they didn't before... which was pretty drastic already.

      @@Sorain1 I hope this entry adds many more fans to the mech franchise.

    For all newcomers that want to get into this franchise, you DO NOT need to have played the previous AC games.
    This is very similar on how Final Fantasy dev teams create its titles, an independent story that mentions elements from past entries while still maintaining its uniqueness.

    Again, I've played some Armored Core games recently and I am literally sold with the new gameplay here. It seems that they are keeping the soft lock-on from previous AC games but just make it a bit easy since most of the time you had to keep in your own AC target window rather than the player's camera most of the time. The Repair kit is a good addition for the game as it is going to be quite a long mission with big explorable areas that you can go through.
    Overall, can't goddamn wait for next month. I WANT IT!!

    • @Sorain1
      @Sorain1 Год назад +3

      The change to soft/hard lock toggle is ultimately a wise decision, and the fact a manual aim toggle is unlockable in the game is pleasant. The old lock box system necessitated the camera being in fixed position relative to your AC for the most part. Honestly if 'manual aim' is actually the old lockbox system I'll end up needing surgery because my sides will split from laughing.

    This franchise is basically a dark gritty Cybertron hybrid of Gundam and Mechwarrior. Gundam for combat style, Mechwarrior for customization. There is no fall damage, yes you can make melee focused builds. You're alwats gonna have speed elements to your play style, you'll die very quickly without some speed. But you can go melee, run and gun, artillery, etc. You customize and recustomize endlessly. And the combat is insane.

    Unlike soul's games, your build is way more fluid in AC games. It is a much less permanent choice, and you will want to fit your AC to the mission. In some cases you will be switching from a fast, light-weight build, to a tank-treaded or quad-legged heavy build. My memory of the previous games had me getting a few missions done with one build that felt perfect, and then getting absolutely dumpstered in the next; requiring me to create a new build based on what I know was and wasn't working to go back and try again.
    I saw something along the lines of presets that another tester was showcasing. So You can hot-swap between builds you have created with whatever parts you have available, rather than always having to strip it down and remember the builds yourself.

      That sounds so fun. It's like if dark souls had no leveling and only equipments that could boost stats and give special effects, that could be switched out whenever

    •  Год назад +4

      That sounds like Monster Hunter. Stats are based around equipment only and each armor piece has unique passive abilities.

      @Squeeble00 Год назад +2

      You can also share your builds online and with friends, and even swap parts on your mech mid mission if you die. Playing around with different loadouts is definitely going to be a selling point.

    • @3dCraddock
      @3dCraddock Год назад +4

      @@Squeeble00 It's everything I've ever wanted. The last one I played was For Answer on a friends PS, but the last I actually put hours into was AC3 with only my younger brothers to bash in split-screen versus. I am so excited to get into proper online versus with random people to experiment builds in this. and to experience the builds of others kicking my ass.
      Sharing builds is a fantastic idea.
      It's been a long time for me, and I am so excited. The last time I had been deep into an AC game, I played it on the same CRT TV that I witnessed 9/11. On the same couch, in the same house, in the same week. I haven't had a console since PS2 was current gen, so having it as a PC release is fantastic. Its been a damn long time.
      A major AC youtuber was talking about his interview with the creators, and how they want to in the future, possibly release a mode more similar to old AC games; where you can go into debt, lose more money on ammo usage etc. Essentially a full-on hardcore mode like how it was in the past. Currently the game is a bit more credit streamlined for the fun of it, and to get lots of builds early, while still having rarer stuff later on.

    Few thoughts to share:
    Melee focused hyper fast build? Yeah, using your ranged gear to build up stagger and then wrecking face with a melee weapon should be viable. Little bit bummed dual melee isn't in 6, but with the more complex melee system as a whole I've made my peace with that.
    Fashion is more color scheme and logo, but I won't deny being able to pull off a build purely assembled for looks is fun.
    The bit about "I'm sure Estus as an idea came from armored core." tickles me pink, because of the whole freak out over having repair kits. Short story on that topic: There was no healing or ammo recovery in older AC games in general. On the worst, most brutal, most unfair missions, you might get healed and reloaded once during a loading screen. To veterans, seeing that recovery was an instant 'clench your teeth' warning. During the series, on a few rare occasions you could get in mission ammo refills. (so, 2-3 out of 80 missions in a given game.) AC 5 allowed you to secure a landing zone, for a cost, to recover armor and ammo (even swapping parts) but the cost escalated each time.

  • @TrickyMellow

    I dont think full on melee build is possible because Melee in 6 is like in 1-2, exclusive to left hand.
    However unlike 1-2, 6 melee have overheat mechanic. You slash and your blade overheat and you have to wait before slashing again.
    Also there are no fall damage. You really dont want fall damage when you fly high in the sky during intense fight.
    Edit: AC have stagger in the past. Rudimentary ofc. However Estus is not.

    • @Sorain1
      @Sorain1 Год назад

      Yeah, stagger is going from 'either a hit stuns you or not' with no limits on how badly you can be locked down... to this system that is sooo much better.

    So there has never been fall damage in an AC game. If you lose from falling it's always, been you fell into water and sunk to the bottom of the ocean with counts as leaving the mission area. What they did have was a fall tolerance of sorts where legs had a certain amount of suspension they can take where if you succeed that limit, your AC will slam into the ground, and you can't move for a second. Which I guess that did indirectly damage you as if you did that in front of an enemy you'll be, well, shot. It wasn't a huge deal as you shouldn't be falling like that anyways. You should use your boosters to easy yourself down. But that's how they handled it. Looks like that hasn't changed much given the gameplay here.
    Also, ammo was really part of building an AC. Like you can take the cannon of ultimate doom that only has 4 shots or you can take a pee shooter that has 1000 rounds in it. They did say there will be check points so I would assume you'll be resupplied if you make it far enough and if you die you're allowed to rebuild your AC with whatever parts you have on hand. They also let you sell stuff at the same cost you buy them at so there is no real reason to not try stuff out.

    Are serious right now fall damage on a mech theres no fall damage you kidding me how can a mech get hurt with a fall is a mech and no you cant get ammo in game so you have to choose to make the right ac if you run out of ammo then you done if you have a melee weapon but thats all you get no ammo refill or anything or ammo creates nothing you just need the right ac
