As someone that was a dishwasher for 5 years, it might not be hard, but it drains you in ways that kill your spirit little bits at a time. It got so bad, retail was a huge step up for my mental health.

Why didn't Sam tell his mother that he was divorced from his wife and that he gave her the business? Isn't that important information to pass onto your family?
Shame, embarrassment and guilt.
Because he had an affair with a younger woman and gave up the cafe to avoid paying alimony. He basically took the cowards way out to avoid conflict hoping no one would ask so he didn't have to explain himself
The only reason why the store succeeded is because SHE(OP) is the one who runs it. So even if she gave back the store to you, without her, you'll just run the store down again.

5:30 mins in and I started to feel more stupid… just go now and save yourself… but some comments are funny.
