Joan is under-appreciated.... I swear some actresses are called for being open and bold but she was the boldest l, she's articulate, smart, funny and people tend to forget her greatness ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Joan is adorable! So sweet, sensitive and so beautiful! I’ve thinking a lot these last days about her relationship with her sister... so sad that they didn’t make up before Joan’s death. I still hope Joan forgave her before dying and passed away with her heart in peace.

Well we know from Olivia's comments about Joan after Joan died that she didn't forgive her baby sister..

Charles Boyer, about whom Joan wells up, died just before this: he took his own life two days after his British wife of 44 years died of cancer. Their son had committed suicide in the 1960s. No wonder she was moved.

I love Joan! Beautiful and elegant lady. I believe that, analyzing her life, her behavior, and that of her sister Olivia, Joan was extremely deprived of the love and attention she longed for from her mother and sister her whole life. She always tries to demonstrate a certainty and a bit of irony when asked about her rivalry with Olivia.
Her mother's declared preference for Olivia has affected her deeply, though she has always tried to hide it, but by analyzing her expressions when she speaks of her sister and mother, we can clearly see that.

In 1978, Joe Franklin could have his pick of old Hollywood stars to interview because almost everyone else on television though they were old news. WOR-TV had a hole to fill in their schedule and the Joe Franklin Show was cheap to produce. In this interview, Joan Fontaine says how cheap it is to live in New York, tea in her London hotel cost $5.00 and it was so-so. That was New York before the spoilers took over.

This isn't 1988 because she released "No Bed of Roses" in 1978, she refers to Cary Grant in the present tense (he died in 1986) and gets emotional over Charles Boyer's demise which sounds recent (this also happened in 1978). Otherwise I enjoyed watching this very much! Thanks for sharing.

@Alan Eichler, Thank YOU for sharing this Interview with us!!!!! I have honestly watched this video dozens upon dozens of times!!! I love it. Joan here, is so sophisticated, witty, charming and every bit the Legendary Star!!!! I consider Joan Fontaine and Gene Tierney to be the 2 MOST Beautiful Ladies of Hollywod's Golden Era. 100%. Do you know if the two of them were friends? or at least friendly with one another? I have always hoped that they were indeed friends. Thank You Again!!!!!!!
