@@danbaker8965 my mom wants me to be grown enough to pay pe my own shit, take care of my brothers and essentially be their parent, but when I go against something she says or I try to tell her she did something I didn’t like, all of a sudden I’m just a kid.
Luckily, as a kid in today's world, I think everyone is a lot more accepting of people. I could walk into school yelling to the world that I like anime, and like "nerdy" stuff like star wars, and no one really cares. That wouldn't be the case in the previous generations! Edit: I'm realizing that this came out as aggressive towards you, and if you took it that way, whoops, that wasn't my intention
@@ecliiipsssse didn’t feel aggressive at all and I think it’s awesome that kids today are more accepting, I’m rooting for younger generations to break that cycle
Absolutely, I feel like I was a really annoying kid/tween looking back, but also I wish I had the confidence that those kids in the video had. I’ve started realizing recently how much I hold back talking about things I like because I was told I was annoying or told that my interests were weird by some people close to me back then. I’m slowly getting more comfortable sharing the things that matter to me with my friends and awesome roommate though :)
@@ecliiipsssse Nerdy stuff has also kind of been in fashion since maybe the 80s or 90s, but it seems like you guys are more accepting of lgbq communities. When I was in high school the number one insult I heard was the f slur or calling people gay. But I dont really hang out at high schools so I cant say what you guys are like now.
ugh, people who hate on children for just being themselves are the worst. Those kids singing a fortnite song made me smile. Like they're so happy. Maybe I wouldn't smile if I was on the bus because the singing may get annoying after a while, but they're just kids having fun and not hurting anyone.
Making fun of kids is not cool, most cringe is literally just hate towards lgbtqia+, neurodivergent, people, if they are not harming or putting themselves or others in danger, and not doing immoral stuff let them be
The bullies are hating behind a screen because they don't have an ounce of the confidence the kid in the video has. He is dressed how he likes and singing out loud in the middle of the bus because he likes it and genuinely does not care about people who think he's a "weirdo"
they always say "people should mind their own business" until it doesn't match their aesthetics or personal style 😭 those poor kids/people in general that just want to enjoy themselves in the stuff that they like but can't because it's considered "cringe." it's so sad.
i’m an artist with a decent following on tiktok, and overall the community’s been great! but there’s also been a disturbing amount of people who have no concept of boundaries (or basic human decency). i used to get a ton of sexual comments aimed either towards myself or the characters i drew, some of said characters having (very clearly) been minors. there was also a lot of anti-lgbt+ behavior that went on towards my stuff, for whatever reason-despite the fact that i’m a part of the community myself, i never really made any content that had anything to do with it. my activity went from posting a couple times a week minimum to what’s now a couple times a month max, which i ultimately have no complaints about since tiktok’s never been my main platform anyway, but it still sucks to see a place full of so much pointless negativity.
im really sorry youve had to deal with that. the tiktok art community has a shocking amount of toxicity compared to other social media platforms from what i have seen. people just really suck, being on tiktok has genuinely made me feel really hopeless and want to stop caring about other people because of how sick some people can be. Hope you are able to keep doing what you love though!
With the Addison rae thing, we really can't be mad at her for getting tons of likes for making low effort content. *If anything,* be mad at the people liking the videos. It really isn't her fault for blowing up.
Exactly, but unfortunately, irrational people need someone with a face to direct their ire at and you can’t do that with a large group of fans, you see the same thing with like OnlyFans for example when creators there get harassed even though it’s the people paying lots of money that allow them to flourish and they’ve done nothing wrong
I believe it all stems from envy. Trying to pull someone else down or wish bad on them for them having something you don’t have. Bringing someone down doesn’t benefit you in anyway other than the feeling they get of release so it’s really just coming from a deep pit of envy.
the second tiktok makes me so mad bro. like society claims that kids are growing up way too young and looking 20 years old when they’re 13 (which by the way i do agree with) but then when kids try to actually act like kids they get dunked on by teens and adults twice their age… back when i was 12 i WAS that cringy cosplayer but hey i LOVED that and it was an escape from my home life… now to see people make fun of it so much and then turn around n complain about “kids growing up too quickly” astounds me.
A girl I went to high school with used to make videos/posts of her dressing up and acting in a really exaggerated manner and I guess general ”cringe” content. One of her videos ended up going mildly viral because someone shared it on Reddit and I remember the comments were absolutely vile - calling her names, threats, etc. And thinking about it now, absolutely like 90% of those comments had to be grown adults, mocking and threatening a young girl for no reason.
I hate how normalized it is to film people without their knowledge or consent. Like even if you think someone is cringe, filming them is so cruel. As someone with social anxiety disorder, it REALLY irks me that people do that :(
yes, 100%. if you disagree with someone for their actions or beliefs, criticize them for that. as soon as you start criticizing them for something unrelated, i.e body shaming, making fun of the way they dress, making fun of their interests, etc., you’ve invalidated the points you were making, and made a lot of people who agree with you feel bad about themselves in the process
THIS. i’ve always thought body shaming was weird, because you’re never just shaming that one person. you don’t even have to look like that person, you just have to think you do, and it can still affect you.
This is why the TikTok creator Drew Afuelo (I think that's her name?) has never been someone I can 100% get behind. I love that she's getting back at horribly misogynistic dudes on TikTok, but so much of her criticism of the (admittedly shitty) dudes is based on their looks, and I feel like that doesn't get us anywhere. Does that person deserve to be roasted for what they put online? Yes. Do other viewers with similar hairlines or features etc deserve to be roasted? No. So I'm always torn. Also, as a fat person, the fatphobia is still RAMPANT on all social media platforms. I really don't like when anyone, with any beliefs, uses that as an insult. Period.
The second one made me disappointed and a little angry ngl. Who tells people that they deserve to be bullied or even k***ed for something that they enjoy? They're just singing to a song. I've been on busses, as an older student, where people sing that exact song because they find it funny. Its awful and downright cruel to say those things to pre-teens living their lives.
Tbh im 13 and i was kinda infected with this it kinda stoppedcme from engaging with stuff i love and started hating ppl who do cringe stuff as well i wanna do better abd im kinda better rn
Exactly, I know Juniors in college who do this in the dorm lounges lmao. The only difference is that one is with friends who enjoy their presence, and the other is with people online who don't know these kids and will forget about them and the comment they wrote an hour later. I get some things can be a bit cringy or don't seem like a fun thing to enjoy to others, but why should that involve them (ESPECIALLY when the kids getting made fun of were not even the ones to post the video.).
If someone isnt causing any mental or physical pain to you or someone else. Let. Them. Be. Like seriously even if you think they're cringey or weird, are they hurting anyone?
exactly! I can’t come up with any real reason to hate people for enjoying harmless things. if anything, it makes me happy to see other people enjoying themselves and doing what they want to unapologetically :)
@@mooselove I feel like because you get to choose exactly what RUclipsrs you watch, it's sometimes not as bad. If you generally watch unproblematic/uncontroversial RUclipsrs, the comment sections are usually fine, especially if you sort by top comments. The issue with TikTok is that the algorithm is more random and most people use the for you page so any toxic person could find a video and leave a hate comment. I do think that there are some very toxic comment sections on RUclips, but I usually don't run into them and sometimes I don't even check the comments, whereas I feel like more people on TikTok read the comments.
@@mooselove i think that really depends on the youtubers you watch and their specific audience, obviously other people can come onto videos and hate but on tiktok i feel like it’s a different level because of how the algorithm works
It’s starting to seem like the people who leave these comments on tik tok are doing the thing where they project their self hatred onto others and it gives them this little mini boost of serotonin. And power
This is true, most of them have anger problems and can't stand that the world won't confront to them, and most of the time their parents messed up raising them, I don't have TikTok cause I like myself to much,
@@screamingbanshee1282 Most of those types of people either way spend too much of their time on social media or were raised by social media and the wrong content creators. I may sound like a "boomer" but 6 hours of social media is bad. I've been trying to keep myself from my laptop and iPad but everything is orientated around electronics.
@maia 👹 I was one of those kids who spent most of their days on their devices, the many hours I used to spent on my iPad and laptop have gone down significantly, but I wish everything wasn't orientated around electronics now. Thank you and you like watching Kurtis Conner too? :)
I 100% agree, a good amount of negative tik tok comments come from insecurities. Don't hate me, but in 2020 I was in a dark place and took out my frustration on tik tok creators. The notifications from the reactions people were giving me was definitely a mini boost of serotonin. Don't worry though I have changed and reached out for help!!! I even deleted tik tok as a whole just because the communities on my fyp were negative and promoted unhealthy lifestyles. :)
those kids on the bus were probably having so much fun. Honestly, I'm 25 and if my internet friends and I were ever able to meet up and go on a drive, we'd be doing the exact same thing music blasting windows down. Idk what kind of adult can take themselves seriously going on tiktok and shitting on middle school-high school age kids memeing on a schoolbus..
I got so tired of Tiktok. Everyone’s either fakeclaiming, romanticizing SH with no trigger warnings, or just being annoying as hell. Happy 2022, everyone.
I think for some people there's a disconnect because it's online, most of these people would never bully these kids irl but as soon as it's online they just forget to think about the fact that these are just literal children that they are straight up bullying to the point of telling them to kill themselves. People really need to think more before they type.
I’ll always support new video ideas, dunking on ppl is fun but it’s not everything. I deleted all social media except yt and it’s made me so so much happier. Even though I love it, the commentary community is in need of more positivity
Did all the same as you and totally agree, way happier just on yt! It feels like yt's algorithm pushes certain topics to us more and maybe some topics creators work on that they enjoy don't get better views or even the normal amount so it's discouraging but I feel like if people were to comment specific ideas, Nick would give us an ear and give em a try 😊 best wishes, Happy New Year all!
Yeah I deleted tik tok for a bit and felt so much better aboit humanity in general 💀😭 installed it again and I am back to seeing so much negativity. I avoid going on it a lot, main reason I have it is because my friends send me tik toks.
Deleting all social media is a massive vibe. I do it at least once a year and have basically cast em all out except IG :/ It's one of the worst ones to me lol but it's like my last outlet for artistic expression.
I stopped using TikTok because it just made me angry when I used it, I'd see a cool video and then read the comments and it's just so disheartening. Or people I followed "clapping back" at dumb comments, it was just such a negative experience, not to mention it ruined my attentionn span. Eventually deleted it after a month of not using it because it kept sending me notificatons but it was just "here's a video youve not seen"
@@thesevenkingswelove9554 TikTok is SUUUUUUUUPER toxic, since the algorithm shows you content based on what you like and what likeminded people like you get HUGE echo chambers, so someone with a dumb opionion will be validated by, what seems like, loads of like minded opinions which reinforces that opinion. Then when one has been in an echo chamber for so long and sees something that doesn't align with said viewpoint they become super toxic
they fuel the shit they hate. it’s funny but sad to see how angry people get in those comment sections.. they don’t realize that any kind of attention online is good attention because it boosts someone’s posts.
that's true but it's mostly 8-13 year old kids spending 9 hours a day on tik Tok liking everything that is easily digestible and short enough for their deteriorating attention span
for the part 3 dilemma, even if she was being exploitative what is there to gain from commenting mean spirited things towards her? the disparity between small creators working their ass off for nothing and big creators putting out something of little effort and making bank is infuriating but i dont think shitting on that big creator helps anyone. especially not those small creators that are struggling
yea they’re literally just bullying her, same w charli and dixie, like they’re just posting on social media as everyone else does?? and people think its funny to be straight up mean for no reason ??
@@froggie97 it’s like when charli had her blm profile pic and she was getting harassed daily about it saying ‘she’s only keeping it up for false activism’ and then she swapped it and people started attacking her for ‘admitting that she doesn’t support the cause’?? she’s a 17 year old girl who’s job literally involves getting cyber bullied everyday it’s ridiculous the poor girl can’t win
Honestly, of all social media sites, tiktok has some of the WORST and most vile comments. It’s especially concerning because so many of them are directed at kids. Tiktok has normalized wishing death upon people and harassing them simply because they cringe at their content
This is exactly the main reason why i removed myself from most social media apps, the veil of anonymity the internet allows enables people to be toxic and it just drains me emotionally to see that constantly on everywhere on my feed constantly
Celebrities only posting "perfect" pictures- Tiktok: You're setting unrealistic beauty standards Celebrities just enjoying life- Tiktok: You look different to 5 years ago, you must do better to look "perfect"
@@Lemoncakelover678 i think it should be a balance of both. celebs and people with a lot of influence need to conscious of their audience. and people should be taught to responsibly consume media.
the cosplay one really made me realize how toxic tiktok can be. it’s really pathetic to be making fun of a kid’s harmless interests as an adult. don’t you have anything better to do? go pay bills or go outside or something :/ some people are so quick to say how kids ‘don’t act their age’ when they’re the ones who bullied them out of their hobbies, like cosplaying, because they think it’s cringey.
And with the kids it seemed like they didn’t even know they were being filmed so they might not even know they’re on tiktok and being bullied in such a horrible way. Can you imagine being showed that or finding out?
It always was normal. People just did it behind each other's back before the internet but with anonymity there's enough distance especially with creators with a bigger platform for people to do the shitalking in a way the person might see but still don't feel guilt because the person might not see it in the flood of it. But it was alwaaaaays a thing. As someone who likes history trust me on that. We have found ancient texts of people shitalking other people. It sadly is a thing and it's still seen as a way to form social bonds with other people and feel a sense of community and validation. I do think we'll be past that eventually but there's no guarantee. At least let's promote shitalking only done on active bullies and bigots for now. If we can get there that's a step up.
it really doesn't sit right with me how easily people will mock "cringey" or "weird" kids/people when both of those are so often used to describe autistic people, everyone says they wouldn't openly mock autistic people but they'll mock behaviors associated with autistic people without a second thought
The addison rae comments about "how does this have so many likes she's doing nothing" are so funny cause the vids get that reach from so many ppl commenting on it yall are literally helping her HGSDFG
Honestly this video was really eye opening, for me specifically. I got the Cole Sprouse tik tok on my fyp and I had watched newest season of Riverdale and noticed he looked different I had laughed at a few of those comments, when now I realized that that's hurtful to people. And it's the same with the tik tok cosplaying on the bus, I used to be one of the kids, not the bullies, but the cosplay kid, and now I'm the bully. In middle school I was a huge nerd, and now a few years later a totally different person I am embarrassed of who I was, but I was just happy to have friends at the time. Now I see middle schoolers and laugh at them for going to school in cosplay, I'm a damn highschooler how am I still acting like a middle schooler? So anyway, thank you Nick for being eye-opening to me, I didn't understand what I was doing was wrong and hurtful, but now I know. People just be happy and do the things that make you happy. Life is rough and don't let someone who acts like a middle schoolers ruin your day.
Hey you're still a high schooler don't be hard on yourself. It's absolutely awesome that you had this change of heart and realized it but don't feel bad for it. That's actually surprisingly early on for you to realize this kind of thing. I still see a lot of adults around me, my age or older, about 50% of people actually that still haven't realized things like that. It's not an easy thing to realize that you could be one of those that hurt people when you've been the one hurt before. It feels removed from you so it's easy to feel like it's impossible for you to be in that position.
I also don't know how I feel about Addison Rae but the comment "remember you are famous for absolutely no reason" is interesting to me because you could say the same about a lot of celebrities. Like there are celebrities like the Kardashians and Paris Hilton that people have said that about. Not that they're great people but it is shouldn't come as a surprise that it would also happen on tiktok. And unless she paid to have those likes, people chose to watch her stand there and then liked it. That's their choice. Commenting on it on tiktok just helps the engagement so I really don't get why people feel the need to comment.
Great points in this video. How hard is it to understand that people like when creators they like put out content, no matter how big or small it is?! If Nick were to put out a TT of himself lip-syncing a song for 5 seconds, I’d 100% still watch it, like it, and ask for more. Because I just enjoy engaging with his content because I like him as a creator. Not every piece of content needs to mean anything. There are plenty of valid criticisms of creators like Addison Rae; but, the shit those commenters are bringing up are not it.
i work with kids and honestly when they do “cringey” stuff it makes me kinda happy bc it makes me realize that they are so innocent. they just do the things they like doing without worrying about what anyone else thinks. one of my kids made a edgy wolf drawing and i just couldn’t help but smile. some of the kids like pretending to be animals at recess. this one kid thinks that naruto and sasuke are originally from fortnite. it’s funny but to me but i just accept that this is how kids are and i move on. as long as they aren’t hurting anyone i don’t really care about the goofy shit they say. it’s cute.
my problem with addison rae isn’t that she’s famous, it’s that she’s said the n word along with almost her entire group of friends. even if we ignore that (like most of y’all did), her and her friend group also get/have gotten monetary gain and fame from stealing from bipoc creators. it just makes her doing the bare minimum a huge slap in the face to those who could’ve had the spot and done a much better job.
This right here, we don’t hate her because she’s famous for nothing, we don’t like her because she got famous off the backs of more talented and deserving BIPOC creators and she’ll never acknowledge it. The n-word incident just makes it worse
I love this. This is such valid criticism. Instead of people using her as a punching bag and bullying her. I wish people would make her atone for the wrongs that she has done to bipoc creators/people. Her and the privileged people in her cohort.
When I was in high school my friends and I were like the kids in that second video because the shows and that we watched were the only thing holding us together from how we were treated (especially cuz most of us were disabled and mentally ill) so seeing shit like that and the “cringe” compilations really reminds me how not far we've come
Yeah I see it on all social media I interact with. We may have progressed so much with sexism and racism even lgbt+ inclusion but bring up ableism anywhere and it's just not a conversation our society is ready to have. We have not gone far even with more and more people getting diagnosed easily and rates raking high up. I can't even enjoy being in autism focused places because the self-hate is just too much for me to handle. It's fun when it's memes but there's some serious deep rooted stuff going on, being spread around and normalized that makes me feel shit.
@@ArturGlass.C yeah it's truly horrifying, I mean our history is just not listened to. Disability overall is just ignored and are genuinely told to just die from covid
i love anime/cosplay middle schoolers they just enjoy life and dress in their my hero academia cosplay! i wish i could have been that open and loving about my interest!
I think Addison Rae is a great case study of how the algorithms work. Instead of shitting on someone who beat the system they're in, blame the system itself for rewarding the videos she posts by being pushed more
I have younger siblings near the ages of 11-13, and they’re all kinda weird homeschool kids - and that’s cool! I shudder to think if they got TikTok tho, if that would be like their source of self-esteem issues.. They watch Pokémon with me and play animal crossing and Minecraft and they let me make them watch Adventure Time! That’s so cool. They’re my favorite people to hang out with (most of the time - they’re kids lol). We have to foster the joy and empathy and positivity these kids have and let them inspire us too❤️ they look up to us cool siblings and uncles and aunties - don’t make them grow up too early. Take them to the zoo, go on a hike, ask them what books they like. Ask them what their favorite character is! Anyway, rant over. I miss my little siblings. 🥺
I felt the second one so much like yeah if someone wants to wear a dog collar or be a furry it might be a little weird to you but still doesn’t affect your life in anyway so let ppl enjoy what they enjoy & also why does Addison get SO much hate for low effort but guys like vinnie hacker get none even though his content is similar
Furries get bullied for existing. Like sure make fun of the n*zi and zoophile furries because they're horrible people, but normal furries? Leave them alone man. I remember watching a RUclipsr called Bluesdank who would often talk about how he wished all furries were dead. Like bro?? You good??
Also the dog collar might be a fashion choice for some but as an autistic ive heard of others using it as a pressure thing. we like certain sensory inputs and its either calming or stimulating so having that collar lightly pressing on ur neck could be very calming qnd it makes total sense as someone that learned they like deep pressure in occupational therapy (basically i got to be squished between 2 giant heavy pillows and it was an amazing feeling)
@@ghoulishtoad exactly and it’s so bad in schools because from what I’ve seen, majority of these kids that get picked on are super quiet and/or very nice but get so much sh*t just for dressing for themselves
ESPECIALLY WITH THE PANDEMIC!! “covid really only effects people who are already sick or elderly” ok so those people don’t deserve to live? people with chronic illnesses should just die??
Honestly this channel is so amazing. I love the more off the cuff-type videos and editing on this channel compared to the main channel. Nick really lets his comedic channel be in focus, I am absolutely here for it. Keep it going Nick, and 2022 will be a great year for you. I did not commit multiple accounts of vehicular manslaughter on I-95 in 1983
That second part with the kids on the bus resonated (?) with me. In middle school and highschool, I had this nasty mindset that I can’t be “cringey” or “uncool”. Made me unhappy and unable to enjoy things. Thankfully, I grew out of that. I really hope those kids don’t see that video or get bullied, they’re just having fun with their friends
i used to get harassed for the second type of thing because i was weird when i went to public school , and it really sucked :( i got bullied out of in person stuff for bringing a cosplay thing , i got stuff posted of me and mocked for completely other things ( such as my meltdowns ) and yeah it sucked lol .
I like your content Nick! You seem like a decent dude and you make me laugh. However, I think it's worth reexamining your stance on body shaming. I understand the instict to clown on shitty people. When people do bad things it is reasonable that there should be consequences. However, is body shaming really a reasonable consequence? Can you guarantee that consequence is *only* affecting the person who has fucked up? A personal example to clarify: I am a leftist fat woman who is deeply anti-Trump. I am likely to aggree with most any criticism directed towards him because he is a racist, misogynist, capitalist piece of shit. However, when friends aggressively make fun of him for being fat (calling him gross, ugly, etc because of his fatness) it makes me feel like shit. Yes, I am logically aware they aren't saying it to hurt me. Yes, they aren't directly saying being fat is bad. However, it doesn't really matter *why* they are saying it or *who* they are saying it about - they are implying that there is something inherently gross and ugly about being fat either way. Body shaming isn't just cruel....it ultimately distracts from the problem at hand. Trump, for example, isn't a bad person because he is fat. He is a bad person because he says + does bad things. Whether you know it or not, that kind of toxicity absolutely translates to real world harm. When you mock part or all of someone's body you are more than likely also hurting innocent people who share that body type/physical trait. Those people don't deserve to be punished because of someone else's actions. My advice to anyone - content creator or not - is to criticise people's actions and not their bodies.
tiktok has set us so far back literally any video with a (usually physically) disabled person that’s gone viral has an ableist top comment with hundreds of thousand likes. it’s so disheartening to see cause these people are just making informational or normal everyday videos.
deku cosplayer looked like really cool too that was a cool outfit :-(( as someone who cosplays theres so much joy in being "cringey" in the moment because youre having fun!!
the second video with the kids on the bus really makes me sad because you see so many people talking about how kids seem to grow up so fast now and there's not really a 'preteen' stage anymore, but then they'll turn around and make fun of kids just having fun. really sad stuff
mhm, they complain about how kids are too childish and say how you look "7" but then complaing about how kids are growing up too fast. i literally get this in some of my videos (i am 13)
i'm friends with those kinds of like "weird cosplayer kids" or whatever and the hate they get for absolutely no reason is insane. like they are genuinely harassed for just how they dress. it seems funny to joke on them over and over sure, but it can really impact a kids mental health if they're constantly hearing negative things about them from all of their peers. laugh with them, not at them guys!! people like that are genuinely so fun to be around.
literally, vocal outburst said it so fucking well and the fact that people just get so riled up over PEOPLE WEARING CLOTHES it just baffles me, like even when I was still in highschool and thought that those "kids who dress up in etc are weird" but I never judged them or had any beef with them as people. Most of the time theyre a whole hell of a lot more interesting and genuine then the people who constantly try to put them down for social brownie points
The same people who bully a kid for being different and being themselves are the same people who look, act and sound like everyone else and their life is the same as everyone else who bullies those kids lmao
I find it comforting that it’s possible to make a living by not doing anything too spectacular. It’s terrifying to think that one day RUclips will be full of people that have reached peak comedy and have superb editing skills and a shit ton it production money. Imagine trying to top that. Growing as a creator would be a nightmare. I like to see people get their bag off of doing stupid harmless bullshit
Watching that video with the kids on the bus genuinely reminds me of myself when I was in middle and high school. Like fuck I was such a weirdo and I had such weirdo friends, and I can remember some of the most fun things we did back then with other kids looking at us funny and rolling their eyes at us from afar. Like,, it’s just bullying- and over what? People having fun doing things that they enjoy?? There is 0 point to it. Fuck cringe culture. Don’t dull anyone else’s shine without reason.
Nick I gotta keep it real with ya, the number of times you mentioned the fact that there is root beer in ur drank has led me to be suspicious whether or not there is roooooot beeeeeer in ur draaaaank
K but those bus kids seemed like they were having so much fun, as an ex-band kid who participated in bus-wide Disney sing-a-longs on band trips, like let these kids have fun, those were amazing memories and tbh I kinda feel sad for kids that think it makes them look cool to record dorky kids
with the cole sprouce thing, they’re saying the “BBL” comments in reference to the second photo she showed of him pouting. he’s doing the stereotypical “bbl face”. some of the commenters are definitely calling him bad names but the BBL comments are harmless
Good for Addison Rae that she can make absurd amounts of money doing virtually nothing, using tiktok in basically the same way any random person might. I can say for a fact that I and loads of other people would use the resources at her disposal to make much better stuff, but she got lucky and fell into a position where she can live comfortably doing very little and can hopefully pursue whatever life she values, even if that means just posting a video of here standing and looking off camera. In a world full of people who are obscenely wealthy as a result of actively exploiting people, I can’t find the energy to get all that mad at a person who literally just stands there. Edit: Also some of the anger at people in her position feels like it comes from a similar place to people getting mad at women selling pics of themselves.
I agree like if people want to not see her you can ignore it or click to say you are not interested in those videos. If we ignore these things it will fall into its own sub genre and not be as relevant. Whats funny I don't know anything about her other than tik tok, but the one criticism could be given and idk if she does this or not is making sure to credit the choreography she uses, other than that she fine. Not trying to say she's in this field but it's similar to people who hate on Strippers or OF creators because they make good money quicker. Like as long as no ones being problematic why bother with it?
@@PinkDonutPatrol Yeah, that’s part of what I was getting at saying “selling pics”, I just wasn’t sure if YT would remove my comment if I mentioned onlyfans or sex work related stuff.
omg the second tiktok where the kids were singing chug jug with you was so cute 😭😭 i'm around their age as well and i wish i could've sang that song on the bus with my old friends. their cosplays are great and it's sad that people are shaming them for having fun.
This may be a bad comparison but the whole Addison Rae thing reminds me of the hot tub streamer controversy that happened on Twitch. Everyone was mad about it, mainly because "they're just sitting around barely clothed, taking away viewers from other streamers!" But once you unpacked it, the truth is that none of it was the hot tub streamers' fault at all. They were doing it because they enjoyed it, or it was fun, or it was something to do, or it just made them money, all of which are valid reasons (and why most streamers do what they do). If people enjoy a certain type of content and someone is willing to make it, the real issue at fault (if there is any) is why people want that kind of content in the first place, not why someone would be willing to market to them. (Also, they weren't taking away viewers from anyone else, because let's be honest, the type of people who seek out one type of content will probably not be suited to a completely different type of content.) All this to say that Addison Rae is just a person doing something that makes her happy. Maybe she knew she would get rich and famous from her content, maybe she didn't, but if enough people are willing to spend their time and attention on her content, that is on them, not her.
Very true. Imo you can reasonably blame the platform for allowing/ promoting it, and/or the viewers for watching it, but blaming the content creators for simply capitalizing off of it is very hypocritical and stupid. People who get mad at Addison (or the hot tub streamers) and act like she should be ashamed for how she became famous, have very overbearing self-righteous "holier-than-thou" attitudes and seem to view themselves as being morally superior. They act as if they wouldn't be doing the exact same thing as Addison if they were in her shoes, when in reality everyone would be doing what Addison is doing (it would be stupid not to, if you had an easy way to make money that didn't hurt anyone else smart people would take that in a heartbeat). I don't believe that her popularity/ success was deserved, but I also don't blame/ hate on her for it, I blame the public for making her famous and the platform's algorithm for rewarding it.
with the cosplayer kid, it's really sad to see kids recording and posting each other without permission as a way to make fun of someone. before, there might be a few bullies, and even a large school, but the kid could always leave and go somewhere else. today, a kid can become a meme and have a concrete number of how many people think they're a loser. that video had 800k likes, that's a large city. that's how many people have died so far from covid in the US. i have younger siblings in high school now, and these school have instagram pages dedicated to catching each other sleep and have bad posture, and many others schools do too. being so young they don't know how to not cross those boundaries, and its important to teach them these things. it's not fair that at any moment, people can be recorded and made into a joke without knowing. like bullying is definitely wrong, but if you're going to, at least have the courage to say it to their face.
senior year of high school i delivered appointment passes to students for a period, one day i was wearing a choker and a kid fuckin barked at me when i came into the classroom 😐
hate comments are just people projecting their anger, self-hatred, jealousy, bigotry, etc onto random people. + the majority of those haters have blank accounts or a few posts that never show their faces. they can dish it out but they can't take it. ultimately, tiktok is a great vehicle for pathetic, bitter people to anonymously cause harm and feel powerful doing it.
on the Addison Rae thing, my stance is more the society route - it's not really the creator's fault that they got famous, and now there's a lot of pressure on them that they wouldn't have if they hadn't gone viral in the first place. the first person I think of is that girl who got the most likes on the app just for bobbing her head along to some music - like yeah, she didn't put a lot of effort on it, and it doesn't deserve the likes it got, but it's not HER fault that she got famous from doing it. it's frustrating that the people on the app favour that content over people whom I think are more deserving of that attention, but the content creators aren't to blame for that, it's just society in general and the general audience on the app that makes these people famous. it's not really tiktok the app's fault either - obviously tiktok has a LOT of problems, but ignoring any technical problems, tiktok has the same problems has every single social media - even on youtube, the people with the most likes and views are rich people doing low-effort family content and getting 10m views a video. and of course in SOME cases it's definitely the creator milking what attention they have and creating scandals and all that, but it all boils down to the fact that they have an audience for that. no matter how little effort was put in, there are still millions of people willing to give attention to that. so yeah, my general view is that the audience and really society in general is at fault here, and there's nothing really to be done about that tbh.
@@gibsonn2018 a) I had no idea she did any of that, but b) that's kind of unrelated? that's more to do with who she is as a person and not to do about why she's popular, but the fact of the matter is the fact that she did all of that and is STILL getting as much attention and fame as she is is just proves my point more, so
I don't like commenjng on ANYONE'S body even if their bad bc if their bad make. Fun of them not their body bc at that point ur not shaming them ur shaming ppl with that body or similar bodies
I deleted TikTok long time ago but oh my god the comments people would leave like: “these comments are so mean😔✨💖listen to them girlie🥰💫🧚♂️” are awful. especially when someone isn’t doing any thing wrong and they’re literally posting a piece of art or a makeup look they’re proud of.
I know I'm not the first person to say this, but like this culture we have rn where it's just normal?? to film people without them knowing and then posting it on the internet. Like these are just people and even if they are doing something you find cringey or funny or whatever just the lack of any sort of respect and human decency is so gross. Like how would you feel to find out later that someone (often times a stranger) filmed you without ur knowledge and hundreds or thousands of people are laughing at you
I have really been thinking about this topic lately and it has been really upsetting to me because so many people are so mean online for literally no reason??? Like it really aggravates me when someone posts something that isn't harming anyone or just someone having fun and I look at the comment section and it's a whole plethora of random people saying rude things and if the person responds to the hate comments, there's always someone that says "well you put it on the internet for the public to see so you should be able to handle people's opinions" and I think that logic is pretty dumb because I may choose to go outside and wear a funky outfit but that in no way means that anyone who sees me is entitled to approach me and give me their opinion on it. And it literally takes a second to just scroll away and forget about it than it does to actually write out a hateful comment. TLDR: the internet is dumb and being negative towards people who essentially have done nothing wrong is stupid.
My two cents on TikTokers like Addison Rae, Bella Poarch, Charli D'Amelio, etc. is that you can't blame or criticize them for something they post that goes viral/having a lot of followers, but rather for what they do with their platform. If anyone deserves criticism, it'd be the people that engage with their content. We live in a society >:)
tiktok is soooooo volatile because anything can blow up, i had the misfortune of being the bullied guy of the day once for [checks notes] doing a dance i thought was silly and fun, but everyone thought i was "too fat" for it and it got to the point of ppl seeking out my other social media accounts to keep making fun of me for it wherever they could find me? but it's so normalized that everyone just moved on to the next unfortunate target because to them it's inconsequential and just "fun" and didn't think anything was wrong with it cuz being mean's their whole personality (i asked someone to take down a video making fun of me cuz i was breaking down over the whole incident and they told me it wasn't that deep) meanwhile i was dealing with the mental consequences for months after :( people simply don't think about their actions and it sucks!
People get mad when kids don’t act their age, but when they do they get hate on and are told to grow up.

That guy is so right, this is how you get bland adults afraid to openly enjoy anything because they got all the fun bullied out of them as kids.

How does this have 2.6 k likes and yet not ONE comment???
ugh, people who hate on children for just being themselves are the worst. Those kids singing a fortnite song made me smile. Like they're so happy. Maybe I wouldn't smile if I was on the bus because the singing may get annoying after a while, but they're just kids having fun and not hurting anyone.
and i feel like at this point the song is a meme, there's probably even a lil self awareness in there. just let them do their thing!!
Making fun of kids is not cool, most cringe is literally just hate towards lgbtqia+, neurodivergent, people, if they are not harming or putting themselves or others in danger, and not doing immoral stuff let them be
I especially hate when it's ADULTS attacking children on the internet. It's disgusting. It's bad enough to be bullied by other kids.
You're right. I didn't hate Justin Bieber until he turned 18.
The bullies are hating behind a screen because they don't have an ounce of the confidence the kid in the video has. He is dressed how he likes and singing out loud in the middle of the bus because he likes it and genuinely does not care about people who think he's a "weirdo"
As a “cringy” cosplayer, that second one is _definitely_ something I’ve seen before, directed at me or not. Like they’re just kids having fun??
exactly! i'm a cosplayer and have an alternative style outside of that, and the amount of people that name call out of nowhere makes zero sense.
they always say "people should mind their own business" until it doesn't match their aesthetics or personal style 😭 those poor kids/people in general that just want to enjoy themselves in the stuff that they like but can't because it's considered "cringe." it's so sad.
i don’t get why people feel the need to be rude to people who aren’t hurting anybody and are just enjoying life.
Jesus christ!
I always see negative comments like "if you were my kid I'd put you up for adoption" or "people died in war for this" and its kind of sad and scary
i’m an artist with a decent following on tiktok, and overall the community’s been great! but there’s also been a disturbing amount of people who have no concept of boundaries (or basic human decency). i used to get a ton of sexual comments aimed either towards myself or the characters i drew, some of said characters having (very clearly) been minors. there was also a lot of anti-lgbt+ behavior that went on towards my stuff, for whatever reason-despite the fact that i’m a part of the community myself, i never really made any content that had anything to do with it. my activity went from posting a couple times a week minimum to what’s now a couple times a month max, which i ultimately have no complaints about since tiktok’s never been my main platform anyway, but it still sucks to see a place full of so much pointless negativity.
this feels like the wrong mood but what’s ur @? i wanna follow you
im really sorry youve had to deal with that. the tiktok art community has a shocking amount of toxicity compared to other social media platforms from what i have seen. people just really suck, being on tiktok has genuinely made me feel really hopeless and want to stop caring about other people because of how sick some people can be.

And isn't tiktok the one that only pushes attractive white people to the forefront? It's not her fault she gets money for low effort content
True
@@CanIswearinmyhandle Exactly!! The problem with TikTok isn't the users at all
I believe it all stems from envy.
Right. We were all cringy as kids. I was a cat girl lol
FR, why can’t ppl let kids be kids
exactly what I was thinking. kids really can't grow up without being made fun of for everything they do
A girl I went to high school with used to make videos/posts of her dressing up and acting in a really exaggerated manner and I guess general ”cringe” content. One of her videos ended up going mildly viral because someone shared it on Reddit and I remember the comments were absolutely vile - calling her names, threats, etc. And thinking about it now, absolutely like 90% of those comments had to be grown adults, mocking and threatening a young girl for no reason.
Going on what Nick said, we were all weird because we were kids. We’re just doing things because it’s fun and we like it.
I hate how normalized it is to film people without their knowledge or consent. Like even if you think someone is cringe, filming them is so cruel. As someone with social anxiety disorder, it REALLY irks me that people do that :(
Reminds me of that poor target worker who got famous for a vid he wasn't aware of n didn't like it
i think body shaming is always bad its just makes someone watching who may look similar feel bad :)
yes, 100%. if you disagree with someone for their actions or beliefs, criticize them for that. as soon as you start criticizing them for something unrelated, i.e body shaming, making fun of the way they dress, making fun of their interests, etc., you’ve invalidated the points you were making, and made a lot of people who agree with you feel bad about themselves in the process
THIS. i’ve always thought body shaming was weird, because you’re never just shaming that one person.
you don’t even have to look like that person, you just have to think you do, and it can still affect you.
@@eternallustformedusa4844 right! i was going to comment exactly what the original commenter said but im so glad someone else has said it !!

Yeah it's insane how awful people can be, I've personally had countless people try to push me to s*****e just for being trans
I get some things can be a bit cringy or don't seem like a fun thing to enjoy to others, but why should that involve them (ESPECIALLY when the kids getting made fun of were not even the ones to post the video.).
the three pillars of the nickisnotgreen nation:
1) root beer
2) positivity
3) not knowing what the eff is going on
3a) being okay with it, too
When someone online bodyshames someone who looks similar to me, even if they did something wrong, it sucks. I feel worse about myself.
I totally get it, but try to remember that a stranger's critisicm says nothing about your self worth. You're beautiful, no matter what you look like
If someone isnt causing any mental or physical pain to you or someone else. Let. Them. Be. Like seriously even if you think they're cringey or weird, are they hurting anyone?
thats a hard concept for many people to grasp sadly
It's also a commonly ableist issue too, most “cringy” stuff is especially autistic people existing or doing “weird” things.
exactly! I can’t come up with any real reason to hate people for enjoying harmless things. if anything, it makes me happy to see other people enjoying themselves and doing what they want to unapologetically :)
@Jabari Johnson the physical pain of it all woe is me /j (didn't even realise people were saying that in the comments)

I've deleted TikTok because of the hate and toxic environment in the comment sections and I'm glad you talked about this issue
But have you been on RUclips comments? It’s gotta be = or worse
same I deleted it like a month ago and I don't miss it at all
@@mooselove I feel like because you get to choose exactly what RUclipsrs you watch, it's sometimes not as bad.

I got so tired of Tiktok. Everyone’s either fakeclaiming, romanticizing SH with no trigger warnings, or just being annoying as hell. Happy 2022, everyone.
Why do people feel the need to make fun of kids for being kids just let them be.
cause people are miserable
I think for some people there's a disconnect because it's online, most of these people would never bully these kids irl but as soon as it's online they just forget to think about the fact that these are just literal children that they are straight up bullying to the point of telling them to kill themselves. People really need to think more before they type.
I’ll always support new video ideas, dunking on ppl is fun but it’s not everything. I deleted all social media except yt and it’s made me so so much happier. Even though I love it, the commentary community is in need of more positivity

the cosplay one really made me realize how toxic tiktok can be. it’s really pathetic to be making fun of a kid’s harmless interests as an adult. don’t you have anything better to do? go pay bills or go outside or something :/ some people are so quick to say how kids ‘don’t act their age’ when they’re the ones who bullied them out of their hobbies, like cosplaying, because they think it’s cringey.
And with the kids it seemed like they didn’t even know they were being filmed so they might not even know they’re on tiktok and being bullied in such a horrible way. Can you imagine being showed that or finding out?
omg that would be horrible. or if everyone at school saw it except them and were laughing...
Thank you, I hate how everyone just accepts being an asshole and even make it a personality, how did saying shitty things about people become normal
Are society, at least in America, has become very self-involved. Education is also shitty here.
it really doesn't sit right with me how easily people will mock "cringey" or "weird" kids/people when both of those are so often used to describe autistic people, everyone says they wouldn't openly mock autistic people but they'll mock behaviors associated with autistic people without a second thought

People put more energy into hating Addison than Addison puts into her own content
By commenting they also promote engagement and push her content into the algorithm for more people to see so who's winning there really ?!
I can’t imagine how I would feel if I was any of the people being put on blast. Let people live of they’re not hurting anyone!!!!
into the intro and I already want MORE of that voice
tik tok comments really just make me feel so disappointed man. like kids can't even be kids without being told to fucking d1e???

This is the comment I’ve been looking for, you’re 100% right
Who cares
I didn’t know she said the n word wow
It’s just sexism.
Furries get bullied for existing. Like sure make fun of the n*zi and zoophile furries because they're horrible people, but normal furries? Leave them alone man. I remember watching a RUclipsr called Bluesdank who would often talk about how he wished all furries were dead. Like bro?? You good??
Furries are usually rlly nice and chill from my experience. I think Jesus would fuck w furries

I hate trump too, but I seen him videos trying to back track the hog mob he made trying to get them vaccinated,
agreed 100%
It's like when people make fun of Gabbie Hana's nose. It's just not okay, regardless of what you think of her.

The “popular” kids that bullied me did always ask to copy my answers on homework in highschool. Vocaloutburst hit the nail on the head with that haha
tiktok has set us so far back literally any video with a (usually physically) disabled person that’s gone viral has an ableist top comment with hundreds of thousand likes. it’s so disheartening to see cause these people are just making informational or normal everyday videos.
deku cosplayer looked like really cool too that was a cool outfit :-(( as someone who cosplays theres so much joy in being "cringey" in the moment because youre having fun!!
love watching your room setup progress, can't wait to see everything come together 😁👍
the second video with the kids on the bus really makes me sad because you see so many people talking about how kids seem to grow up so fast now and there's not really a 'preteen' stage anymore, but then they'll turn around and make fun of kids just having fun. really sad stuff
mhm, they complain about how kids are too childish and say how you look "7" but then complaing about how kids are growing up too fast. i literally get this in some of my videos (i am 13)
"i'm fostering positivity" call him nick foster
this better be top comment or else lmaoo
Imagine hearing kids singing in public and not providing back up vocals smh
the second one is so vile omg… let kids be kids. we should be leaving cringe culture behind instead of reinventing it.
I appreciate Nick Fostering a positive attitude.
i'm friends with those kinds of like "weird cosplayer kids" or whatever and the hate they get for absolutely no reason is insane. like they are genuinely harassed for just how they dress. it seems funny to joke on them over and over sure, but it can really impact a kids mental health if they're constantly hearing negative things about them from all of their peers. laugh with them, not at them guys!! people like that are genuinely so fun to be around.
literally, vocal outburst said it so fucking well and the fact that people just get so riled up over PEOPLE WEARING CLOTHES it just baffles me, like even when I was still in highschool and thought that those "kids who dress up in etc are weird" but I never judged them or had any beef with them as people. Most of the time theyre a whole hell of a lot more interesting and genuine then the people who constantly try to put them down for social brownie points
I've realized that people LOVE to rob kids of their innocence and it makes my blood boil.
The same people who bully a kid for being different and being themselves are the same people who look, act and sound like everyone else and their life is the same as everyone else who bullies those kids lmao
The bus video reminded me so much of being a cringey band kid in middle school but like that was the most fun I've ever had
How refreshing to have a RUclipsr call out commenters for small-minded negativity. THANK YOU NICK. About time.
Opening the comments on tiktok can really be a gamble. Sometimes they’re funny and they make the video better, but sometimes they’re straight up vile

@@claireelizabeth9431 Well said 👏
with the cosplayer kid, it's really sad to see kids recording and posting each other without permission as a way to make fun of someone. before, there might be a few bullies, and even a large school, but the kid could always leave and go somewhere else. today, a kid can become a meme and have a concrete number of how many people think they're a loser. that video had 800k likes, that's a large city. that's how many people have died so far from covid in the US. i have younger siblings in high school now, and these school have instagram pages dedicated to catching each other sleep and have bad posture, and many others schools do too. being so young they don't know how to not cross those boundaries, and its important to teach them these things. it's not fair that at any moment, people can be recorded and made into a joke without knowing. like bullying is definitely wrong, but if you're going to, at least have the courage to say it to their face.

hate comments are just people projecting their anger, self-hatred, jealousy, bigotry, etc onto random people. + the majority of those haters have blank accounts or a few posts that never show their faces. they can dish it out but they can't take it.
ultimately, tiktok is a great vehicle for pathetic, bitter people to anonymously cause harm and feel powerful doing it.
My favorite memories of going on trips was belting songs on the bus TOGETHER. We all did it together and it made it more fun.
on the Addison Rae thing, my stance is more the society route - it's not really the creator's fault that they got famous, and now there's a lot of pressure on them that they wouldn't have if they hadn't gone viral in the first place.
the first person I think of is that girl who got the most likes on the app just for bobbing her head along to some music - like yeah, she didn't put a lot of effort on it, and it doesn't deserve the likes it got, but it's not HER fault that she got famous from doing it. it's frustrating that the people on the app favour that content over people whom I think are more deserving of that attention, but the content creators aren't to blame for that, it's just society in general and the general audience on the app that makes these people famous.
it's not really tiktok the app's fault either - obviously tiktok has a LOT of problems, but ignoring any technical problems, tiktok has the same problems has every single social media - even on youtube, the people with the most likes and views are rich people doing low-effort family content and getting 10m views a video. and of course in SOME cases it's definitely the creator milking what attention they have and creating scandals and all that, but it all boils down to the fact that they have an audience for that. no matter how little effort was put in, there are still millions of people willing to give attention to that.
so yeah, my general view is that the audience and really society in general is at fault here, and there's nothing really to be done about that tbh.
It’s not society’s fault she said the n-word and never credits the black content creators whose dances she does in her TikToks lol
@@gibsonn2018 a) I had no idea she did any of that, but b) that's kind of unrelated? that's more to do with who she is as a person and not to do about why she's popular, but the fact of the matter is the fact that she did all of that and is STILL getting as much attention and fame as she is is just proves my point more, so

are awful. especially when someone isn’t doing any thing wrong and they’re literally posting a piece of art or a makeup look they’re proud of.
"We live in a society" reminds me of Answer in Progress. xD
tiktok is soooooo volatile because anything can blow up, i had the misfortune of being the bullied guy of the day once for [checks notes] doing a dance i thought was silly and fun, but everyone thought i was "too fat" for it and it got to the point of ppl seeking out my other social media accounts to keep making fun of me for it wherever they could find me? but it's so normalized that everyone just moved on to the next unfortunate target because to them it's inconsequential and just "fun" and didn't think anything was wrong with it cuz being mean's their whole personality (i asked someone to take down a video making fun of me cuz i was breaking down over the whole incident and they told me it wasn't that deep) meanwhile i was dealing with the mental consequences for months after :( people simply don't think about their actions and it sucks!
