Kadcyla Chemo Round Two (and Coronavirus chats!)

  • Kadcyla round two was a challenge! And the Coronavirus is starting to become a headache. The world needs to stop hoarding toilet paper! Lol guess I’ll start making the reusable stuff 🧻
    Information about my diagnosis and treatment plan:
    My first round of chemo was on May 17, 2019. My first four rounds (out of eight total) were AC chemo, Adriamycin “Red Devil” (Doxorubicin) and Cytoxan (Cyclophosphamide).
    July 12, 2019 I started the second part of my treatment; four rounds of Paclitaxel (Taxol), done every two weeks and eight rounds of Herceptin, done every week (and then every three weeks until January 2020. Switched to Kadcyla February 2020 until the summer).
    Oncoplastic reduction with complete axillary dissection of lymph nodes (ALND) was on Oct 4, 2019 (yay for being cancer free!)
    Radiation therapy started Nov 15, 2019 and continued for 16 regular sessions and four boosters. Rads were Monday to Friday with weekends off.
    Diagnosis: Locally Advanced Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in left breast with node involvement (three)
    Type: HER+ | ER/PR-
    Stage: 2B
    Date of Diagnosis: May 1, 2019
    Age at diagnosis: 34
    Genetic testing: Negative, variant of uncertain significance BRCA2 retesting in two years
    Chemotherapies: Adriamycin, Cytoxan, Taxol, and Herceptin/Kadcyla
    Surgery: Oncoplastic reduction with complete axillary dissection of lymph nodes (ALND)
    Radiation Therapy: 16 full coverage plus four boosters
