Godard is a genius , eh makes movies by speaking, Dick Cavett did very good questions, he know what he is asking, we can learn a lot by seeing this interview
YES! YES! and YES! (It's been 10 years since your comment and I cannot agree with it more! My appreciation for him has certainly grown more than 10 times in the last ten years)
It's such a shame Godard's English isn't very good. Cavett makes considerably more sense here. Godard can be quite be perceptive, in a very cryptic way, when he talks in his native French.
@@kayem3824 I watched the Cavett show when it was on. I was in my early twenties then. I liked his guest roster. It seemed to me then, as now, that Dick was not as hip as he thought he was but clearly pretentious, imo.
+Shifty1940 I took the Metro, went across town when they opened the 1st McDonalds in Paris back in 1972 (or was it in '73).. not that I was big into Big Mac (or as John Travolta calls it in Pulp Fiction "a Royale w/Chees")...
Dimitri Korsakov listening comes hand in hand with understanding. You need to visually understand art if it’s needed. Looking at the sound, you’re aware it’s there, but you’re not looking deeper into it, hence why he doesn’t say listening.” It’s a weird way to describe it but he meant more to it.
@@Moonlight-mz7mu This gobeldygook is as bad as what he said. I'm not gonna attempt to make sense of what you said, but here's the proper explanation of what he said: Something that sound sexy, but is utterly nonsensical. Just like so many lines in his films "What is cinema?"
Dimitri Korsakov dude you don’t even understand what he’s trying to say. Just say you don’t understand and leave. My explanation might have been confusing but it makes sense if you actually pay attention.
"We can't seem to touch without bruising" - what a genius line.
Godard has shared some neat ideas. I think he has consistently tried to be honest and give us something of value.
I love Jean Luc Godard. He speaks about such interesting ideas and concepts.

English is not just so sophisticated language.
Cavett didn't come up with good questions. They were kind of cliche.

Has it anything to do with Hamburg?
Listen to the image and look at the sound -> LOL, what pretentious, pseudo artsy garbage
