Open the mechanism completely and the sides (the round part) will come right off leaving the cake sitting on the flat round bottom part of the pan. You can leave the cake on that plate and finish making the cake. You can serve it from that plate or remove the plate later once the cake cools. Sorry I was smiling a little watching you trying to knock the cake out of the pan like you did. I understand you are not experts with such a pan. LOL! Next time it will look better. 😊
The sand oven is a great idea and, as you saw from the melted pan, it can get REAL hot. Once you perfect the technique you can bake anything: cake, bread, chicken, meat, vegetables, etc etc. Sand absorbs a LOT of heat, so you can heat the sand oven up, take it off the grill/fire, put inside the food you want to cook, and let it cook while the sand releases all the heat it stored. That way you can save charcoal and time: while something is being cooked in the sand oven you can put other stuff on the grill/fire.
You added too much liquid. Add less next time and allow to cool before you remove cake from pan. Also put less liquid in icing and ice a thoroughly cool cake.

Make sure next time you follow the recipe you can used a table spoon to do your measurements if you you don't have a measuring cup I think the recipe said water or milk not water and milk. I love your oven
