Hey quick question, how do you know if it's the holy spirit convicting you or if that voice is yourself or Satan or false guilt. Like if you feel "conviction or guilt" for doing something you don't think is wrong or doing something you felt the spirit was telling you was right and it wasn't. Like how do you distinguish the spirit from your own voice/convictions or Satan

I love Ecclesiastes, but my favorite translation is the King James Version. Vanity is a better word than meaningless to me because it’s less like punchy and in my face lol. I like to hear “it is all vanity” over “it’s all meaningless”

Okay so I just realized you are reading from NIV or something similar and I read it from NKJV Bible, I should have read it in NIV because it makes so much more sense. But thank you so much I have really enjoyed this!
Question I have about word use: I am reading from NKJV and rather than using the word "meaningless" it uses the word "vanity", "vanities". Does this change the meaning slightly from what you got from the derivative word hevel or can it still be likened in some way? P.S. Looking forward to this book, very intrigued already :)
Dude he was given wisdom from God so yes its all vanity basically because nothing lasts in this world does it. someone else will enjoy the money you worked for and left behind the author has good points, Salvation the only thing that is not vanity, came after it was written so the author had no idea about that.

Go read Matthew 6:24, I don't you want to be rich but remember Temptations doesn't always come with something big. Sometimes it starts with a few bucks and then builds itself up with every penny and the risk of putting money above God is more likely. Just remember God is always there to provide whats needed before we even ask Him, son don't stress about money rather work hard to show Jesus through your actions.

The new testament is contradicting towards the old testament. For example in Leviticus 24:17-23 God tells the high priests an eye for an eye but Jesus told us that we ought to turn the other cheek. In order to understand the contradictions you should read the whole Bible as one story. The Old testament talks about a law based life but the new testament talks more about a Faith in Christ based life.
Léonie Vuffray a change in rule is not a contradiction it's just a change. However if you read the Bible in context and think all the books are an instructing manual of "thou shalt dos" rather than having their own genres plus all new covenants and old covenant stuff, they will seem contradictory like the eye for an eye thing. Not sure what people don't get about 'that was then this is now' . The truth remains forever throughout though, in the new testament and old the wages of sin is death and death/blood must occur/be shed after every sin, in the old it was animals, but in the new its Jesus (because animals are finite beings and not enough to pay back an infinite God), the animals were a temporary solution because God had his own timing for when Jesus would come. Also there are some places where eye witness accounts differ by the amount of people there or minor details and so on, not a contradiction but proof that they were indeed eye witness accounts... Even with law, if eyewitness accounts seem too similar it's a sign it's fake, like the eyewitness colluded to make their story sound the same, real eyewitness account are where the main point sounds the same but the minor details differ a little bit cos people don't have everything in view from their vantage point. For instance in the gospels there's a main point about healing a blind person. But one talks about seeing two blind people, whilst one talks about one and mentions the one by name, clearly the witness in the second one was looking from a different vantage point or knew one of the blind man by name and that one was the one at the forefront of their minds. With the person asking you about the contradicting texts, first understand what they think the Bible is, then start from there.

Will musical instruments in 3000 years time really be able to produce any more amazing tunes than a three stringed lute ? Will it really make my life more interesting to see all the things round this planet rather than just the few miles i can walk to ? Who cares if we understand how the wind flows so well that we can predict its speed and direction several days in advance ? Will there really be any meaningful improvement in science and technology ? What does it matter if we knew that it is the Earth which is rotating causing apparent sunrise and set rather than the sun moving ? So what if infant mortality can be greatly reduced just be improved sanitation, discovering how to make clean water. Why would i want to ride a fast racer bike along a smooth tar road or go kite surfing in amazing waves ? What could be better than watching the goats grazing the bushes and listening to the cricket chirp ?
"Hevel" can mean breath, but in this context does not mean breath or vapor... it means... well... "bullshit" (like in the Hebrew phrase: "hevel havalim," which means: total bullshit). So everything is bullshit.
In the Bible 'hevel' was translated as Vanity,which doesn't make sense because everything Solomon enjoyed was actually from God,and how can u say God's creations are worthless the thing is that Solomon thought he could find permanent pleasure in all this things but soon discovered that all those things fade away as we all would fade away(he was greatly disturbed by this Hevel in ecclesiastes is actually translated as smoke meaning everything is like smoke there is no permanence, but we can actually get pleasure from those things but it doesn't last Don't be confused

How would "unfathomable" be as a translation of "hevel"?
Question I have about word use: I am reading from NKJV and rather than using the word "meaningless" it uses the word "vanity", "vanities". Does this change the meaning slightly from what you got from the derivative word hevel or can it still be likened in some way? P.S. Looking forward to this book, very intrigued already :)

Dude he was given wisdom from God so yes its all vanity basically because nothing lasts in this world does it. someone else will enjoy the money you worked for and left behind the author has good points, Salvation the only thing that is not vanity, came after it was written so the author had no idea about that.

Go read Matthew 6:24, I don't you want to be rich but remember Temptations doesn't always come with something big. Sometimes it starts with a few bucks and then builds itself up with every penny and the risk of putting money above God is more likely. Just remember God is always there to provide whats needed before we even ask Him, son don't stress about money rather work hard to show Jesus through your actions.

I have a question. Is it true that the Old testament does not match up with the new one? How can I prove that it is not contradicting?
The OT gives hints to Jesus all throughout. Jesus is the fulfillment of the OT. That's how you connect them. They do match up.
The new testament is contradicting towards the old testament. For example in Leviticus 24:17-23 God tells the high priests an eye for an eye but Jesus told us that we ought to turn the other cheek. In order to understand the contradictions you should read the whole Bible as one story. The Old testament talks about a law based life but the new testament talks more about a Faith in Christ based life.

However if you read the Bible in context and think all the books are an instructing manual of "thou shalt dos" rather than having their own genres plus all new covenants and old covenant stuff, they will seem contradictory like the eye for an eye thing. Not sure what people don't get about 'that was then this is now' . The truth remains forever throughout though, in the new testament and old the wages of sin is death and death/blood must occur/be shed after every sin, in the old it was animals, but in the new its Jesus (because animals are finite beings and not enough to pay back an infinite God), the animals were a temporary solution because God had his own timing for when Jesus would come.
Also there are some places where eye witness accounts differ by the amount of people there or minor details and so on, not a contradiction but proof that they were indeed eye witness accounts... Even with law, if eyewitness accounts seem too similar it's a sign it's fake, like the eyewitness colluded to make their story sound the same, real eyewitness account are where the main point sounds the same but the minor details differ a little bit cos people don't have everything in view from their vantage point. For instance in the gospels there's a main point about healing a blind person. But one talks about seeing two blind people, whilst one talks about one and mentions the one by name, clearly the witness in the second one was looking from a different vantage point or knew one of the blind man by name and that one was the one at the forefront of their minds.
With the person asking you about the contradicting texts, first understand what they think the Bible is, then start from there.

Improved quality of life and increased life expectancy who needs that ? Why would i want to enjoy 21st century dental care ? Why would i want to have tasty food from around the globe instead of just wheat & rice ? Who needs potato french fries with tomato sauce ? Will musical instruments in 3000 years time really be able to produce any more amazing tunes than a three stringed lute ? Will it really make my life more interesting to see all the things round this planet rather than just the few miles i can walk to ? Who cares if we understand how the wind flows so well that we can predict its speed and direction several days in advance ? Will there really be any meaningful improvement in science and technology ? What does it matter if we knew that it is the Earth which is rotating causing apparent sunrise and set rather than the sun moving ? So what if infant mortality can be greatly reduced just be improved sanitation, discovering how to make clean water. Why would i want to ride a fast racer bike along a smooth tar road or go kite surfing in amazing waves ? What could be better than watching the goats grazing the bushes and listening to the cricket chirp ?
Nothing matters its all meaningless and it is better to never have been born.
"Hevel" can mean breath, but in this context does not mean breath or vapor... it means... well... "bullshit" (like in the Hebrew phrase: "hevel havalim," which means: total bullshit). So everything is bullshit.
In the Bible 'hevel' was translated as Vanity,which doesn't make sense because everything Solomon enjoyed was actually from God,and how can u say God's creations are worthless the thing is that Solomon thought he could find permanent pleasure in all this things but soon discovered that all those things fade away as we all would fade away(he was greatly disturbed by this
Hevel in ecclesiastes is actually translated as smoke meaning everything is like smoke there is no permanence, but we can actually get pleasure from those things but it doesn't last
