Nice & detail review, great job Mr Kon. By the way, i have a question regarding the remote engine start. Why the engine need to be turn off & restart again in order to move the vehicle. Doesn't it convenient that we can start the engine remotely, with the door lock, then we go the car, unlock it and just go. If it require to restart again the engine if we using the remote start, doesn't it will eat up the battery much faster? Hopefully can get a better understanding in this matter on why engineer choose to be it that way.
That's a very very good question. Keeping the doors locked while the engine is running makes sense from a security standpoint, but don't see why it needs to be shut off if the user unlocks the car, especially if from the keyless entry button on the door.
By far the best detailed (you seriously did your homework) for local Malaysian Market review is concern. I like the way you explain rear passenger row width and incline, engine and manual gearbox position, engine remote start, nature of hydraulic steering affecting safety suite. Haven't heard from any other review even other country review. Good job!
A really comprehensive review. Thumbs up!! Kon, if you are able to choose only one of the many pickup trucks that you’ve mentioned for an overland trip to Europe, which would you choose?
One question, I tested this truck and found that idling with aircond on, the truck will have a big vibration every 15-30 seconds (can't rmb exactly how long are the intervals) due to the aircond, the salesman told me it's common in all D'Maxes but I wonder if the big aircond vibration in all trucks or only in D'Maxes? And do ppl find it annoying?

can you give me an advise, which one i should get between dmax 1.9 and toyota hilux 2.4.?..for your info, my mainly purpose is for driving in town and sometime for long travel on highway. thanks.
Personally, I think the electronics gadgets of x-trail is overkill. With the hot and wet climate in Malaysia and East Malaysia in particular, I have doubt whether these electronics will survive. Premium variance be it 1.9 or 3.0 seems to be a more practical option.

Hi Kon, great review and I can sensed some disappointment in you as whole nation under FMCO...like your say, we have to take good care of our self and loved one, stay safe. Lindung Diri, Lindung Semua.
Oh, I'll definitely be in full compliance of the lockdown. I'm grateful for the luxury of being able to continue working from the comforts of home and being able to provide for my family; but my heart goes out to those who live paycheck to paycheck with no end in sight to this ongoing crisis. This lockdown gonna hit people much much harder than MCO 1.0, but those of us who can afford it, let's do our part and stay at home.
The Isuzu and Toyota are at par, the Isuzu edges the Toyota at comfort and the Isuzu even though bullet proof can be just a tad expensive to maintain compared to the Toyota, should anything go wrong..
@@KonWaiLuen yes speaking from experience, I have 3 Isuzu's and waiting for the new one. 2008 250d model at 547000km only never been tempered with since new just regular service, 2013 300dteq at 360000km had gear box issues and had to change the gear all together (expensive exercise) 2017 250dteq 198000km flawless and runs like brand new..
The new navara start stop pickup at junction response are pretty slow need to wait few seconds b4 it moves, dmax i feel the power on 3.0 so so only and the engine very noisy, n need to pay so high roadtax. hilux rogue power ok but slow drive very bumpy and Fast speed ride like a boat🤷♀️ finally i tested triton...i refuse to get in the 1st place because its a quite old model, but after testing.. Its real pretty responsive, technology also ok. So finally i get myself a TRITON. But feel a little bit high fuel consumption. 1 tank at most i can go around 650km instead of dmax i saw fb ppl post xterrain can get 900km easily.
900km can confirm. I drive a 2013 D-Max and the FC is ridiculously low. Imagine a 250km difference every tank, and multiply that by the number of years you drive. That's alot of savings
I bought Triton 2008 Model in 2009 (more than 12 years ago), fuel consumption is OK for my driving style (gently) where I can go more than 900 km when I worked in Sarikei, Sarawak..... I drive from Kuching-Sarikei-Kuching once every week.... 360km one way, very good experience with my old Triton during that time..... 😅
@@KonWaiLuen Here, we are starting of using pickup. so par very few people use truck for their daily life except professional demand. that button start is not to cool the cabin because it is recommended to turn off air conditioners before q=we hut down or start the engine. less current load on the battery but its meant to warn the engine and provide the engine oil flow peoperly in all parts before we take off hahahahahahahahahahahah dont make up bs please lol
The most impressive review for d-max so far, thanks Mr Kon.

Wonderful review....sufficiently technical without being too overwhelming on the details or jargon! I just love the Isuzu D-Max, so sexy!

Hi Kon, how about overall cabin experience and NVH compare to current Ford Ranger ?
Very good. The Ranger's NVH remains excellent despite being an aging product, but the D-Max is exceptionally refined.
Best review so far
I had been told 1.9 standard version still got 4 pieces of leaf spring, isn't it?
Is 1.9 bluepower sufficient for urban and light offroad usage?

In Australia, Isuzu demax has the problem of uneven tyre wear. Do you have this problem in your country?
Not that I know of. Have they ascertained the cause of this?

Fact: dmax, triton and Hilux has the same 6 speed automatic transmission
It's good transmission. When you're doing 180km/h the revs will be Below 3000. On no6

How did you get the wing mirrors to fold when you locked it?
There should be a button on the side mirror adjustment panel that enables/disables this feature, provided your car came with it.
