I'm nearly 70 and have been finger picking guitar since I was 17. I have lost some mobility and strength in my wrists and you made it possible for me to learn and play this beautiful tune.
Thank you Rob,
Mike.
Cheers Mike! 👍🏻😎
❤
I've been a finger picker for over 55 years. My fingers are automatic. The toughest part for me with this has been teaching my fingers a new pattern. They seem to be adapting well, so, don't give up, your brain will create new pathways, (just like learning to type in typing class in the olden days. Yes, high school offered typing classes).
I love this piece so much and have wanted to learn it for so long that I'm thrilled with each measure I get down pat. So, thank you Rob, for introducing an easier way to play this without the bar cord thing. Too, your downloadable charts you offer for free, easily explains how it all comes together. I never dreamed a piece so difficult could be so easy, with just a little effort. Brilliant! Thank you!

This piece is one of the most frustrating I have learned. One day I can play is ok with a bit of struggle, the next day I am fret buzzing like crazy.
Your version is genius.
Hi Rob. This is exactly how I play this. I capo to 4 like you and tune down low 6th & 5th to E & B respectively. Works a treat! Thanks for your wonderful post mate. Cheers from sunny Sydney Australia 🇦🇺👋🎸
What a brilliant teacher, I have been playing for some time now, only picking the guitar up when I was fifty. I have loved this tune for many years but the finger picking was always a little advanced for me as I had got into a rut strumming. The sheets of tabs I have down loaded so all good there and followed your picking rhythm, still working on that, so I feel that after time spent practicing I will get there. Can I say that yes there are other teachers giving tutorials on this tune but none come close to your absolute brilliance in getting it over to students.
Thank you so much Fennah you have inspired me, I am now in my seventies and it goes to show that with the right teacher opening the right door you can teach an old dog new tricks or in my case old man. God Bless you and keep your sense of humour it makes learning so much fun.

Thank the Lord! My fingers just can’t form the shapes required to play it the other way. Just impossible. You’re a godsend.
I'm 72 now Rob. Pulling out the ol' guitar again. Great encouragement ....thank you.!
Cheers Rob... all your time, skill and effort is truly appreciated.
I believe his knickname is the kascading kidd he definately plays a lot of them in his music and probably why it always sounds lively and happy i do dig what youve done with it ,i still working on it and will be forever but damn i just love this tune ( honestly i couldnt stand it ) until i picked up a guitar and started learning ,i came to quickly adore this circus of picking tune thanks everyone
Rob you absolutely rock! Great stuff and looking forward to get working on this.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into this great tutorial Rob ! You truly have a gift for teaching and playing the guitar. Thank you for the guitar tabs too. 😊
After a decade of failed attempts at this song I just picked this up in 15 mins. Great stuff, singing over it already. Learned the chain yesterday I've plenty of Fleetwood now:D
How did you manage to sing along,i just try since 2 days to sing along, but my brain stops working as soon the first serious picking starts!!
@@andrealamelia7847 Go slow, one tiny note at a time.
I own the May 1992 Guitar School Magazine with Yngwie and Nirvana on the cover and it has an excellent transcription the same way you play it by Mark Hanson . Relearning it from the same mag as back in 92 , Some music never ages .Challenging tune indeed . Excellent lesson .
You are a beacon of hope. Thank you a thousandfold❤
You are a life saver. Not only with your brilliant tuning arrangement, but your explanation and notation in the tabs of the exact picking pattern with the timing changed got me playing this song in a few hours. Sounds spot on.
you don't understand how wonderful it feels to finally learn this masterpiece without breaking my fingers, thank you for sharing everything, lots of respect!
Everyone who has learned this song knows how wonderful it feels :P
One of the best guitar tutorials I've seen. Great work.
What a great guy. So generous to share this. Nothing pretentious about this man. Much gratitude,
I love you!! I found you this morning playing Never going back again!
Brilliant started playing right away… my hand thanks you too!!!
I tried learning this song from other channels.....very hard. I finally learned it here from Rob with the easy tabs...... this is the best way for sure for me , keep up the great teaching bud !!
That was ingenius! Never thought I'd be able to play the likes of this song but this lesson made it possible. Thanks you, Rob!
Okay, mate,I subscribed immediately after this tutorial.if you can simplify one of the most notoriously hardest and beautiful tunes to play, then you are a bonafide legend. Thank you❤
You're the best guitar teacher I've ever encountered. That's an awesome lesson & so very clear & patently explained. I'm well impressed. I subscribed immediately.
Rob, just found you on you tube and i have always wanted to play this and never even got close and just given up frustrated but you have broken this down in such a fun and brilliant way it has inspired me to try again, love the way you teach mate, thank you for the inspiration. Chris
Hey brother, thanks to you I am enjoying playing this song. I also feel more confident about my guitar abilities. Much appreciated
Rob - Thanks so much for the tabs and brilliant lesson. You let this over 50 beginner guitarist in on one of the best-picking songs out there.
Rob you are a true renaissance man...love the attitude or lack of I should say.....YOUR GREAT
Glad I found your channel great lesson I’ve been playing the hard way for years but I’ve finally mastered it with this version , and it sounds actually more like the original 😀many thanks for this
You are by far the best guitar teacher on RUclips. You make it so easy to understand what to do, and the rest is muscle memory! Thank you x
Very kind to be putting this out here for free. Excellent human being . Thankyou
You’re most welcome. ✌️
As a beginner, I've been learning a few of my fav songs, and this song is so good. Couldn't do it Lindsey's way, but can ALMOST do it your way - the middle part with bar on the 14th fret gives me fits...little finger not strong enough yet...but I'm determined. Thank you so much for this tutorial...you're the best!
I have just recently discovered you on RUclips Rob. In 3 words, Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant. Thank you so much
Thank you! My arthritis was really making this a painful experience, this version has made it a lot less painful!
Brilliant! This will change my life. I've been trying to get this down for years. Cheers Rob, from another Wirralian Rob.
What a wonderful lesson for a magnificent tune. Thank you so much.
Absolutely Brilliant teaching -- the best I've seen ! THANK YOU
Fantastic videos and teaching Rob. You’re making guitar an easy and not always painful experience especially when learning advanced songs ha! 🤙🏼
Excellent video! I have got this version in a guitar magazine from 1982 (synchronicity, great minds, etc!), but your teaching style has inspired me to REALLY get this into my fingers! The picking patterns are useful for my classical technique too. One thing I would say is, regarding the high bit, that I'm playing this at the 14th fret on a classical, using fingers 3 and 4 on strings 1 and 2 for the first chord. It may not suit everyone, but many will find it ok.
You have a talent for communication, my friend. Very nicely done. I'm 75, do open mics for charity, and your work enables me to bring more music to more people, recreate the sounds and moods that people love, with minimal fistfight with adding new material. You nailed the sound, mood and feel without the contortionist thing. I fudge a lot and no one notices or cares, because the "feel" is what they came for. "Well played, my friend. Well played." :)
I've been working on this song for a couple of months but just could not get to that bar chord with the large gap fast enough no matter how long I practiced. Wow, this is great, now I can play it easily. Thanks! Nice sounding guitar by the way!
Cheers! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge for the love of the music and not for money!
Watching this again … as always … fantastic ! Thank you ! : )
This is brilliant Rob thanks so much for making this you tube one helped me so much when all fingers and thumbs
You are amazing i am so bad but you give me hope because your instruction is so simple and relatable. Maybe i can learn to play
Cheers Rob. Really helped with the middle section. Top man.
Thank you so much this is incredible! I’m actually playing it!!
This is the BEST guitar lesson ever!
Brilliant! I was almost giving up the original is so hard, thanks, now I think I can learn it!
I have been working on this song for 2 years (since I picked up the guitar). Apparently, I like complicated songs for a newbie….. but I wanted to say that your tutorial is THE BEST one I have watched …. Wish I had found this one 11 months ago when you posted it! I’ve been playing with capo on 4 trying to bar and stretch and I could only get to a very choppy version. This is making all the difference for me! Thank you for taking the time to write out the notes (16 pages!) and recording this tutorial!!! I’m giving this old favorite song of mine another chance!! 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️❤️
You’re very welcome Nancy. 👍🏻
@@fennahrob6934G'daytoFennah, hey Fen what a brilliant lesson, and you play like a true master.
Have been trying to play original version, finger just won't get me there.
I would like to buy the tab.
If you agree, How do you want me to pay
I am hoping tu ou get this message
Yours sincerely
Terry Sheridan
Brilliant! You saved my day, erm, my fingers! Thanks for sharing!
Great lesson and a great S&P guitar!
This is brilliant Rob thank you 🎶 🎸
Brilliant! Thanks a bunch!
This literally unlocked this song for me!
Cheers for this. Excellent tutorial
First time viewer, well impressed. Thank you.
Love this lesson and the way you teach it.
I love the song too, but as a beginner, it is still intimidating with the tempo and finger picking.
One thing I found is that in the settings I can slow the play speed right down and helps me focus and play along on the right hand picking. Just thought I would share for other beginners who might not know 🎸
Hi Rob. You are right that if I had to play that capo 4 version I would give up, (or never start). But with your version I am tackling it and I think I'm going to get it. 1000 thanks!
So grateful for this! Also been struggling for ages
You make it look real easy. Cheers!
I honestly thought that this was two guitars 🤓
I can't believe I'm slowly playing along with this 😎 almost cracked it.
Top man , great teacher; I will be looking back at some of your previous lessons once I've cracked this one.
Thanks
You are most welcome.👍🏻
I just jumped over here from your prior, and laughed right out loud watching the business with the first, then second, guitar. I'm new-ish and all for easier to learn complicated fingering. Cheers.
Love your version at the six capo position with tuning CG
Great version and lesson 👍
Great minds think alike! Also discovered NGBA was a snap while fiddling around in CGDGBE (FWIW, for the purpose of attempting Richard Thompson's "Vincent Black Lightning 1952"). Great job!
Hi Rob. Thank goodness I found your vids. I’ve been trying to learn this one for ages but those bloody chord shapes always put me off - and I’m a fairly experienced player. The fingerpicking i can do cuz I’m a blues picker already but the original chords just pissed me off lol. I only found you yesterday and I’ve pretty much got the gist of it. Thanks for making it so much more accessible!
Hi Rob, new subscriber. Fantastic lesson 👏. This will keep me busy. Love the alternative tuning which for me at least might make the impossible, possible.
Brilliant teacher now I may be able to play in a few weeks,!!
Great lesson! Great guitar player!
Enjoying Learning Rob... sooperb!!!
Genius! Thank you so much!
Really good mate.
I tried all sorts .... but your method is definately the easiest yet. GOOD MAN. Keep it coming .
This is brilliant!
brilliant tutorial thank you
Brilliant. Avoids the insane s-t-r-e-t-c-h for smaller fingers. And I've been playing for 30 years and can play songs like Solsbury Hill note for note.
Brilliant! Thanks for the tutorial!👍👍👍
You are a freaking genius...Einstein of music 🎶
Spot on with the rhythm, your right thumb is like a metronome!
Great idea!
thanks, great help for a tricky tune
Brilliant! Thanks dude!
Exactly. After struggling with impossible way for years, I figured that dropping the 2 strings was the best way!
Yeah Big Brother I would liike to thankyou for the lesson,AWESOME!!!!!!
Hey I have been working on the original cords for this song, and have been having trouble with the cord shape. Will it become a lot more easier when my fingers and hand gets accustomed doing it repeatedly.
you are the BEST! Thank you so much!
This helped a lot. cheers
Thank you very much - i love this song :)
Excellent,Thank you ..
You're an angel. thank you
Hey Rob! I'd love to have a pint with you mate! I've just started to learn this wonderful song, and I must say it's not easy. Thank you for giving me a chance by coming up with a friendly tuning. You really have done the world a favor!
Thanks, Rob! I'm going to give this a bash... 🎸🎤😊
Amazing!
I love your humor!
Thank you for your time mister.
thank you! I've finally found a lefty version of this song. Now I can stop struggling to learn the original (probably will still try tho).
Brilliant!
Love the left hand...I can do that but just cannot get on top of that picking pattern...but will keep going cheers Rob
Totally awesome
Wow! Thanks so much Rob. This is really helping me a lot! I’ve watched a few other videos on this song but yours is easily the most understandable! Another few weeks and I’ll attempt adding the vocal!😁 Do you happen to have charted Doc Watson’s “Deep River blues?
Love your style of teaching! Any chance you could do the 12 string opening section and chords of cinema show by Genesis.
