Sad, but nowadays athena chest is not that hard to get. FotD, new fort, thieves haven voyage and athena voyages of all sorts - that's pretty much already. You'd better go for chests of rage steals. Now that's a challenge... ;)

I love summit, but these "RANDOM players" shit needs to go. You guys get given these servers. Someone messages you telling you that there is people doing FotD, Athena, whatever, you join on them and get your boys in there and go get them. You have all the intel and stuff already. I hate this acting like you guys just find these people randomly sailing. Thats why you leave the server everytime you do a big heist? It's because you are moving onto the next player given server. lol

8k from an athena? isn't that extremely cheap for the rarest chest?
The big thing about the Athenas isn't really the gold, it's that they give you Athena rep, which lets you purchase certain exclusive cosmetics.
Tbh, the chests should probably give like double what they do now. They didn't use to have so many ultra expensive cosmetics. Now you would be playing for SOOOOO long to get just a couple of the late game cosmetics. All of SumSums adventures over several weeks of real time playing amounted to just 1-2 of the cosmetics once he logged in somewhat recently and found new cosmetics in the Pirate Legends area.
That said, it's somewhat interesting design wise to have cosmetics so expensive one shouldn't really ever own them all. Means people spotted with them won't often have the same ones. Can stand out depending on what you choose.
Sink a solo sloop who's clearly new, afk and doesn't even have anything. Sure glad Rare enforces that pirate Code. Bunch of kids without dad's to teach em better cheering on a needless 3v1, real tough guys.
