Stevie hit it on the nail. In Philippines we use Negro as a color a place and even our ancestors. Im from a place in the philippines called "Negros Occidental" and the first filipinos were called Negritos. As time comes by pure filipino blood start to mix with neighboring Asian and spanish colony. Thats why we filipinos come in different shades. Thanks Stevie for your reaction.
FYSA: in the tagalog lyrics, he mentioned that in the Philippines, it was easy and okay for us to say the word "negro" and call our buddies that word, (kahit sa tabi, bro) even in the corners/alleys, because the Philippines being a Spanish colony, the word literally means black. and the Filipinos being dark skinned and all, were also being called negroes (negritos, short black people) or indio (indigenous) by the colonizers. so that's why, when he immigrated to the States, he was really shocked that black-American people were offended by the "N" word. also, the reason why he composed that bar in Tagalog, his native language, is so as not to offend anybody. he kept it open for translation specially for his international fans. to be translated by his Filipino fan base.

Just some background, in Philippines Negro is not a racial derogatory word. We have black skinned Filipinos called Negritos and Negro is just a neutral adjective meaning dark-skinned much like we call lighter ones like EZ a mestizo, tisoy for short. I bet every single Filipino immigrant like EZ, was dumbfounded that the N word is a big no-no in America. It's initially confusing cause we hear the same offensive N word spoken loosely as a cool slang between black people or in songs. We arrive with no knowledge about the history of black oppression in America. So yeah, it made me snicker when EZ mentioned it cause I swear every Filipino immigrant went through that enlightening experience. We say Negro like you would say an apple is red - not an offensive word back home at all. 🤣 So if you hear a Filipino say the word, pls just educate them on what that word really means in America. I'm certain they will apologize and refrain from using it again. No need to jump or hate on the person, just pls educate.✌️
Hard core racism is only in the US. I have a friend we call nognog or nog. It means black-black or black. But we don't care. Nobody cares! Nice bruh 🔥 🔥🔥🔥 too bad they edited and cut it short. Originally it was 4-5 minutes long, but in his freestyle he spittin facts exposing the music industry
Thanks for giving this a listen Stevie. BTW, "Basta pag Pilipino ang nagsabi ng 'negro', kahit sino ang pwedeng magsabi n'yan sa tabi( 'tabi' literally means 'side' = Filipino slang for street/s) bro" = A Filipino just says 'negro' coz anyone can say that in the streets[in the PH] bro ) >> that word is not a slur here because it's not loaded the same way it is over there. In the PH, it just means the color. Culturally, it's a word we embrace instead of detest simply because of our ancestry/heritage which traces back to the native tribes of east & south Africa(or another part of the continent, I can't precisely remember sorry, as history was not my fave as a kid XD). We grew up being well aware of that fact because we start learning about it from the get-go, as in first grade, making it common for many of us from teens or later to get confused/surprised when we start to get exposed to western media and eventually learn about the word's additional meaning that's gotten attached to it, to the point where we literally ask, "What's this 'N-word' they keep talking about like some taboo?", only to later realize that you guys were simply referring to 'negro'. To us, that word stands for something that's part of us so it's casually said here since it wouldn't make sense for us to consider that offensive. Even the Spaniards who colonized us noticed it enough that they renamed our 4th largest island to Negros, pertaining to what our ancestors look like. The Spaniards did also try to make it derogatory coz we were also on the receiving end of their racism, which continued on with the next one who colonized us (Uncle Sam), but our ancestors just happened to choose a different reaction, so the hate attached to it in the American/European context did not manage to take hold.
