    Great review, thanks. Looks like the perfect head torch for camping at this time of year, light weight and still enough power if you have to walk out in an emergency. Beam shots in video very impressive.

    Great to see your channel doing really well Tom. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’m in the market soon for another headtorch, so I’ll certainly add this Ledlenser to my selection. The focusable beam looks like a very good idea, as does the magnetic charging.

    Thanks for another great review Tom, I don't do running or cycling so I have got have gotten by with a couple of wee petzel E lite + for my son and I, they are so small and completely fine for camp admin and reading. However I realised while walking with they they are not suitable for night walking. So I ordered the MH5 from bikester for £36 delivered just in case I need to abort after dark 🙄😁

    Hey tom hope you are well!.Great review as always.Looks a great bit of kit and at £49 a great price.Am a bit of an olite man myself.Looks a well thought out head torch.Ive had ones with the wider thicker head bands and my only criticism would be once they get wet depending how much water they soak up they start slipping down your head or you have to tighten them so much because of that they become uncomfortable.

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  3 года назад +1

      Hi Stuart, thank you for watching my review. Great feedback regarding the thicker head bands. The one on this MH5 is broad but not too much and feels very stable without having to tighten it too much. The Olite lights look very good as they have many different models with decent weights, features and run times. ATB Tom

    Thank you, this is the best video review of the MH5! I have just two questions - is the headband reflective and how powerful is the red light? Would the red light be useful for walking around at night? It doesn't matter if the range is low, but can you see what's in front of your feet 1-2 meters?

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  2 года назад

      Hey thanks for watching and really appreciate the positive comments. No the headband is not reflective.. I find the red light gives just enough light to see where you are walking and my night vision is not great... I hope this helps... Tom

  • @jaywon06

    If you are a runner, I highly recommend this headlamp, it doesn't rattle around as much as some of its competitors, you don't want the light bouncing around everywhere as you're running, it's annoying. The only complaint I would have is it is a little bit out of my budget, but I got a deal on it. Cabellas matched a rock bottom online retailers price!

    I'm nut sure weather to buy mh8 or the fenix hl60r.... The beam changing feature is really cool but i heard that it's inefficient and looses some Power. My dad got the mh5 and it's good but not bright enough for me when i'm riding my bike in the forest at night.

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  2 года назад

      Thank you for your comments. My choice would be the Ledlenser H7R Core which is a similar price to the Fenix. There is a fantastic tight spot on this lamp as well as the wide flood option. Its a bit larger but this means the bezel for the focus is easier to rotate and adjust when on the fly.. I don't have any experience with Fenix lights but have looked at the spec and reviews on line and they do very well...The H7R Core is definitely my favourite headlamp and I have quite a few current ones and many from different brands inn the past... I hope that this helps... ATB Tom

    If you may, Is it hard to change battery in the dark? How long does it last on normal AA batteries on 400lm mode?

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  2 года назад

      I always carry some sort of power 🔋 bank on any trip as my back to a number of devices in preference to an aa battery spare.. You get better use if you can use something for multiple purposes.. But I understand each person will choose different equipment.. I am sure it will run for a couple of hours on the aa but the lumen output will drop off as the battery loses power.. ATVB Tom

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  Год назад +1

      Hi Anders, 400 lumen is not a massive light output so it runs at this constant for the duration then goes into a reserve mode... This is honestly one of my favourite lights due to its light out put, weight, run time and changeable beam pattern... ATB Tom

      @andersriksson100 Год назад

      @@TOMHEANEY100 Thanks, thats good news. Had A SEO7 Ledlenser about 200 lumen, good enough for me so 400 is plenty for my EDC and fishing needs. I'll probably try one and hope the button lasts longer than 3 years this time. Or maybe I'll try the Fenix hm51r ruby V2.0, but prefer the availability of ordinary 14500.

      @@TOMHEANEY100 I believe you. I've researched many many headlamps and this is one of the ones that I like the most.
      There is one that is even BETTER, but has one big problem: LEDLENSER H5 Core. Instead of a button it has a dial, so you can regulate the brightness to exactly what you want, which is perfect. The big problem: it has no red light! No red light = bad for camping.
      I have a Streamlight Sidewinder II headlamp. It also has a dial, and has red/blue/green/IR lights. Can use CR123 or AA batteries, and is waterproof. Problem is that it only makes 50 lumens of light.
