    My 2001 SS is having the same problem. Do you think gasket maker along with new gaskets would be a good idea? Thanks for the video

      @HackSquadGarage  6 лет назад +2

      TysonD916 I used some gasket maker before this video and I'm thinking that's why it started leaking, in this video I didn't use any gasket maker and it hasn't leaked since, the main thing that causes it is letting the car sit, the rubber on the seal breaks down and it leaks. Thanks for watching!

      Hack Squad Garage Thanks man makes since love your Camaro looks good any tips on things to do to improve performance

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  6 лет назад +1

      TysonD916 Thanks! The best thing you could do for performance, bang for buck is a cam/valve springs and dyno tune. That's what I'm going to do, I've seen people pick up 75whp+ with just a cam/springs and a good tune.

    Nice car man but I been using dexcoo my whole life in all my cars we have a 06 Silverado SS with 180k and never had a problem with it, we have a 07 Suburban with 270k miles and not a problem and I have a 02 camaro SS with 72k miles and didn’t have problems so idk if it’s just where you live but here in Cali it’s perfect

      Thanks! Hmm well I had it in my 96 Jimmy and this car and they both started to get gummed up, the problem with dexcool is that it break down over time, so if you change your coolant at or before the recommended intervals it's probably fine. But with the horror stories that everyone has and the experiences I have had I want nothing to do with it.

      Hack Squad Garage I have heard if you use autozone dexcool it’s bad but if you use prestone dexcool it’s better and I can say I only use prestone dexcool and not other brands and our cars are fine but yeah man I love your car and hope to see more videos!

      @@camaroguy4390 oh OK I have not heard that before, brand could be really important. Thanks man! I am for sure, it's getting heads/cam/long tubes here in a month or so and I'm going to film the whole process, even the dyno tune. Hope you check those videos out too!

      Hack Squad Garage that’s awesome man my 02 is wrecked so I had to get a 01 v6 so a buddy of mine and me are swapping over my LS1 into the 01 and I just got a baby cam from Texas speed a 224r with a 600 lift I also got some Bilsteins shocks with BMR lowering springs

      @@camaroguy4390 that's awesome! Sounds like fun project, I went with a Elgin 230/232 cam at 585 lift, the "sloppy stage 2" cam. Some ported and polished 4.8 heads with bigger valves, bump it up to 11:1 compression and long tube headers. Hopefully make 400whp.

    Was it the gasket?

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  6 лет назад

      Pichael Thompson it's the water pump gasket

      Hack Squad Garage thnx i noticed there was some coolant on my rack and pinion boot by the passenger side im guessing it might be the same thing

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  6 лет назад +1

      Pichael Thompson yeah its possible, these gaskets go bad after a while, especially if the car sits. I've had to change them twice since I've owned this thing.

    I noticed a big ass puddle coming under... got a feeling its the water pump.

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  3 года назад +1

      Most likely is the gaskets. Just replace the gaskets or make sure it's not leaking out of behind the pulley of the pump. Then you need a new pump

    Didn’t like this video, didn’t show how to remove the pump and seems impossible as I am doing it right now, kind of want to remove the throttle body, probably the easiest way. Probably what I’m about to do and since this guy didn’t show it he did that or said if he did that, it’s annoying he skipped probably the most important detail.

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  6 лет назад +2

      you dont have to remove the throttle body to get the pump off.. there are 3 bolts by each water port, i didnt take the pump totally off in this video, i just moved it back enough to replace the gaskets. you can fish the pump out towards the passenger side of the car once you unhook everything. its a tight fit but it fits.
