Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler Case I launch aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in the Arabian Gulf.
This jam was my attempt at a "Band of Brothers-style" tribute to a man that was a truly remarkable Naval Officer and President. We don't make them like this anymore.
Here is the link to President Kennedy's speech at the Naval Academy on 1 August 1963.

    *Correction to the narration*
The Catapult Safety Observer in this jam is an ABE (Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Launch/Recovery), not an ABH (Aviation Boatswains Mare - Aircraft Handler). Thanks to my viewers for pointing this out.

I had to move my 94-year-old Dad to hospice today and I wanted to comment here that he was the program director at Hughes Aircraft for the radar system in the aircraft that GrowlerJams is flying. A brilliant, kind, and generous man with a wonderful legacy for our country. It makes me so happy to see brave and talented pilots like GrowlerJams using the radar system that my dad was in charge of developing. Fly Navy! Wag a wing for my Dad ❤

I am a proud Navy veteran and maintainer of the F-14 Tomcat. I served with, and under, truly terrific men, especially those of the Vietnam era who were my seniors when I was in, starting with my boot camp DI's, Chief Petty Officer Reyes and Boatswains Mate 1st Class Ramos. Even though I was in for only 6years, I bleed Navy blue and gold.
Pail, you Sir, are the kind of officer I would've been proud to serve alongside. Believe it or not, your videos have contributed to me continuing with writing my books when I had reached a point where maybe I was going to quit. Your videos, along with several others, reminded me of where I once served and how well I was taught; so well in fact that 40 years later, their lessons still resonate deeply within me. You're a teacher, not just a content creator. I've taught others, both in the classroom and individually and rest assured, Sir, you have that quality.
Thank you for all you've done. Believe me, if your buy me a beer was still active, I'd buy the next several rounds.

That brought tears to my eyes. I've never ever thought of Pail as a content creator until you said that. I mean, he makes amazing videos but when he started posting videos it was like he wanted us to understand that he risked his life every day to have the coolest job in the world. He showed us, taught us and we all hung on every word. He humbled me then and now and it's such a secure feeling knowing Pail is training the next batch of pilots.
If you ever publish a book, I would love to read it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.
      Sincerely,
      Tee

Listenìng to Kennedy and thinking about what you've done for our country for so many years and now getting the next generation ready to follow in your steps, got me way up in my feelings this morning. The quality of this video was off the charts. Wow. You've never posted a mediocre video and you can't imagine how many times I've gone to sleep listening to some of your older videos and hearing those engines jet you into the blue skies. Man, I love that sound. I can't even get started on your voice 😊. But, it rivals the raw sounds of those engines.... can't get better than that, Pail. THANK YOU for everything you've done for our nation. You're the best.

When I had stopped I heard someone following close behind begin singing the song where I had left off. It was a pilot absolutely drenched in sweat with a huge grin looking like he was having the best day. I appreciated that they tended to treat stooge-level minions such as myself like humans. What an opening! He did inspire generations. What a speaker he was, and let's not forget his Naval Service. There have been two traumatic national events in my lifetime - Kennedy's Assassination and 9/11. Each of us will always remember where we were when we first heard about it, in my case walking back from lunch while in the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M in 1963. The school voted to cancel our annual bonfire which had been started, but now was disassembled.
Years later while in VS-24 stationed in NAS Norfolk, I got a call from the pilot of the USS Kennedy's COD pilot who needed a co=pilot for a trip he wanted to make in the ships C-1. He was going to Texas and no one attached to the ship wanted to go. He asked me if I could go (he knew I had family in Houston) and so I went with him in "Miss Caroline" as the plane was named. They had really fancied her up, chrome prop spinners and the name painted on the sides.

Talking about "Pinky launches", did the "let's attack Russia from somewhere in the Pacific" on Enterprise with Midway and another (embarrassing that I can't remember which, but it was 40 years ago!). Because Midway was there, we were the "night carrier" usually launching around 2200 or so. The one thing I liked about that was, I figured that if I had to, I could tank till dawn!

It's so beautiful sunset, and warm! I enjoy being in the cockpit with you, far away what it could be; wet, foggy, windy and still snow on the ground making the weather really chilly. The most I love your calm and soft narration what's going on on deck and on the Sky!! 💖💖💖
    Thank you! ✈️⚓️🤍

My San Diego boot camp company was marching back from firefighting training on 22 November, 1963 when we got word of JFK's assassination. Boot camp was suspended for a week to mourn. I was part of the 50 state flag group and got to go to Los Angeles to participate in a memorial hosted by Lorne Greene. Your intro caused me to remember our great president. Thanks for the memory.
