@@shujinkydink this game I just got and I regret buying it. I try to play online casually but your sweats 24 seven people beat me to the wall and I can literally not break it every time I do they just get right back to spam in the same combo there’s so many Johnny cages, I thought in the past 24 hours I am literally going to scream. I hate the duo part of this game, and I hate how stupid the combos are and how easily spammable they are. I literally thought the guy who won 500 matches by just playing Johnny cage. Spam the stupid sidekick. I cannot break it every time I did he jump in the air and keep me in a combo I’m like if you play like that play ranked. But it’s even worse in there. This game is a waste and I can’t wait for it to fall off.
This is my very first game in the series, so I’m pretty much as beginner as you can get, this video seems likes it’s going to help a lot! Thank you for taking the time to make it
I came in trying to learn mk1 but ended up actually really loving who you are. You’ve earned a subscriber! Thank you so much for being patient and humble enough to ask if you were clear or not.
Also: since the game is new, you're going to want to fatality every single match to add to your "F-Score". The higher your "F-Score" the faster your big D-energy charges.
Off topic but I’m glad you inserted the quote from your mother. I lost my Father this year and that kinda brought me some hope that; even though they are gone, their wisdom lives forever.
I’ve taken other fighting games pretty seriously but mk is one of the more jarring ones to learn. The ducking without blocking tip has already blown my mind as I’ve been frame trapped quite a fair bit in this game for crouch blocking too much.
Awesome video! I've been an mk player since MK9 and I've never felt I really knew how to approach the game. I always was a combo junky and wanted to do the best combos, clearly it's much more than that. Looking forward to your future tutorials!🙏
Awesome video man, exactly what I was looking for. A lot of the other guides on RUclips right now are a little too advanced for someone like me who just got into the game and Is trying to learn the mechanics.Great video!
New sub. You remind me of my uncle who taught me fighting games and how to enjoy them and get better. When he'd teach me I'd eventually become better and he'd say "good, steel sharpens steel now I'll get better too" didn't believe in that don't teach your students everything philosophy. Glad your mom instilled something similar.
your mother raised you right; a kind and respectfully spoken person. came here looking to get into mortal kombat, found a man who needs to know he's doing alright :)
Solid guide! I’ve always been a very casual player when it comes to fighting games but MK1 looks awesome so thinking I might spend some more time on it and git gud. Looking forward to your next videos!
I just got this game for my son and now I am watching this so I can play with him. Great explanations, A+ for your teaching style, and mom is proud I can tell you for sure. Thank you for your content.
Dude you are great, I love your vibe. Thanks for sharing all the way down from the most basic things. I've played mk before but just now really getting into it. you are the man
I've always loved mortal kombat from afar, fighting games in general just seem so intimidating to me, this series may convince me to give it a try. Maybe :) good work!
Only 1 min and I realized that you are amazing. This is how all humans should be let's help each other so many connections could be made.So many friendships ,relationships.Spead love ❤️ not hate.
Also for beginners: Kano’s laser is one of the best cameo attacks in this game. Damage wise and it can used close, at distance, anywhere. And it’s a good way to get them off you.
Goated guide been using thumb sticks most of my life for fighting games and I was wondering why I kept dropping combos so I made the switch to the d pad and can now perform them more consistently
Great vid Dink! On the throw section of the video you didn't mention the "shove" mechanic for forward throws when the kameo is already out or unavailable.
Dink you're amazing. Ive been following your channel since the mkx days and you were the most influential in terms of me learning fighting game fundamentals. Very entertaining and educational content, and just a real pleasure to watch
I’ll definitely be using this to learn Homelander once I get my hands on the character through the Kombat Pack which I don’t own but is on sale right now so I will probably end up buying it
Thanks for the tutorial! I have recently bought Mortal Kombat myself and have been wanting to learn how to get better at it. I have been playing through the tutorial trying to learn combos, however it has been very hard for me to do special moves with the dpad on the ps5 controller. I noticed in the video that you also use a ps5 controller and I wanted to know if use special/modified dpad buttons like the ones from battle beavers. I have seen some other pro players use them and I have been wondering if they actually make a difference in gameplay or is it fine if I just stick with the default ps5 d-pad. Thank you.
Thank you sir !!! I played mk9 alot even played you're Quan chi a few times !! But I was looking for a refresher to mk an I seen you're name an was like I know I can trust this guy he knows what he is talking about
You told me the other day you were here to help with any questions I might have and I thought “oh what the hell, he said he’s hear to help me as a new player to MK1 so, why not get an opinion from the guy that’s here to help, and then go from there.”
Thanks for the guide! I'm having trouble getting special moves at the end of strings to come out. What would you recommend setting my Input Window Timing on? Input Shortcuts on or off?
I'd have timing set to medium and input shortcuts are great to get inputs to start but they can be detrimental down the line for more complicated attacks
@Shujinkydink thanks man as a brand new Mortal Kombat player picking up this game as Homelander I must say this should be really helpful, as all I do is go online as Homelander and get my ass kicked more often than not as I don’t really know what I’m doing
you are so kind ! i loved the video, i'm new to the fighting games so i want to get good, thank you so much for all the work you put into this, keep it up!
@Shujinkydink I will definitely be using this to learn Homelander as my main character as I’m a huge fan of the show The Boys on Amazon Prime and I also, think the character has some really fun and swaggy combos despite them being kind of having some difficult execution to pull off
Thank you, i have to wait but id liek to jump right in when it does. I plan on getting the pc version since im cheap and cant afford ps plus especially if the 30% increase is true. so fingers crossed pc port isnt terrible :P
Hey there Dink, I have a question for you, I already have a 3 hour training regimen in play for every night before I go to bed however, as far as how to use that time wisely I have a question. I’ve been seeing guides online particularly on DashFight from pro players that say I should focus only on a handful of options at first, but as a beginner, do you think I’d be restricting my overall gameplay if I only stick to a handful of so called “key” moves if I don’t even understand yet what makes those moves strong in the first place yet? I guess what I’m saying is, should I avoid character guides until I understand what my character’s moves do as a whole and how they interact with the gameplay systems? Just wondering your thoughts on that because, I keep hearing conflicting opinions on the matter.
everybody learns differently. Some people like to dive in with everything and piece it together, others like to focus on one main piece at a time. I would try both strategies and see which one sticks. For me, my time is limited to train so I perfer to get stronger in one thing than focus on a bunch, trying to use my time effectively. Say tonight I only have 2 hours so im going to spend it working on fighting Kitana. Things like that, its good that you have a regimen started though, that tells me you're a little more structured in your learning!
Hey man thanks a lot for the videos been watching for a while (all the way in the injustice 2 days) although I did quit mk11 pretty early on. wanted to ask if you could maybe do a video about how to lab effectively would help me a ton and I'm sure more people. You're doing some great work man keep it up👍
Nice video thank you. I haven't played a mortal kombat game since the sega days but decided to buy this one on my pc. So far it's fun but tips help so much. I usually play rpg games.
Also, when it comes to attack strings aka dial a combos, do you just add how much each attack in the string does to get the total amount of damage that the entire combo string does? I know I’m asking a lot of questions that might seem kinda stupid but, as a noob to the series I’m genuinely asking because I want to start off on the right foot with whoever my character is.
no such thing as a stupid question my friend! the best way to see the damage is to go to practice mode and perform the string. This game uses something called Scaling. I'll make a video on it but certain moves cause the next move to do less damage if performed in succession, so adding it up wouldnt be accurate
Also, I’m on Xbox Series X Dink, if you have the game for Xbox and not just PS5 I wouldn’t mind if you have time getting some sets in once I eventually get a solid grasp on the basics and how reptile works.
Ya moms should be proud

I read this like there was something to actually learn lol
RIP shukinkydink mom, always honor the mommas
Off topic but I’m glad you inserted the quote from your mother. I lost my Father this year and that kinda brought me some hope that; even though they are gone, their wisdom lives forever.
I'm so sorry for your loss, as time goes on I find I appreciate her more and more
I’ve taken other fighting games pretty seriously but mk is one of the more jarring ones to learn. The ducking without blocking tip has already blown my mind as I’ve been frame trapped quite a fair bit in this game for crouch blocking too much.

Good point on the jumping topic. Too many times you do see beginners jump to get in or what have you and it’s not the best way.
