Give these creators money to make a feature, or series or just more shorts. This is spectacular yet so achingly brief.
People won't watch. That general movie going public are idiots who prefer endless viewings of Marvel Disney movies and reruns of the Big Bang Theory.
People want they/ them /these/ that /those
@@rehanalbalushi7158what?
ah fuck just realized this wasnt a trailer lmao
It takes more than talented animators to make a good movie or tv show. Most of the time thoses artists works better with short format. You need a good writer to have something that would legit hold you for 75min or a full season.
I genuinely love how the psychopomp picks up the baby - gently and protectively but without hesitation, like they know what needs to be done and yet it's done with care. It really warms my heart.
Aww
From what I assume it's the God Xolotl, the psychopomp of the Aztec pantheon, the Jaguar playing the cello it's probably Tezcatlipoca, the god of the night, also related to death and the woman who blows is Cihuacoatl, a goddess related to early death in maternity
アニメも数年以内に日本は二番手三番手に落ちるな。
I thought the exact same thing
Also the little shine on his eye after he picks it up - it's like a little tear that falls for the baby 😭
This is my favorite one so far…
Mictlantecuhtli gave the Xoloscuintle to the humans as a gift to guide us through the underworld.
The creature is guiding the little baby to safety, finalizing his journey with his last breath…
What a beautiful animated short , I wish we had feature length movies like this.
We also see Xipetotec there. It's an amazing animation of such a deep concept
I'm pretty sure the black jaguar creature playing the contrabass represents Tezcatlipoca, the god of the night, jaguars, and death, guiding Xolotl to Mictlan, the underworld. I love how the strings swell when he comes on screen.
@@alejandrayanez8269 Xipetopec! Are you talking about the one blowing the wind almost at the end? I was wondering who that was since it seems to have a monkey mask, was hard for me to relate it to a certain deity, thanks man!
@@pareogo well said! Thanks for the extra input :D
what needed to be done???
Ohh, so from my understanding, the little baby has died and they are being carried(or in that matter, their soul is) over to the underworld through many different places/minor underworlds. And as the sun dawns on the lifeless, not-breathing vessel of the diseased, the flowers from the vase above the baby falls over their body, indicating that as the flower wilted and fell, so did the baby.
Thats a good interpretation
I think you nailed it. It would especially make sense after reading the description!
Yes! And also, the flowers falling show the passage of time, where you expect the baby to breathe, there's only stillness
Or just the representation of a dream world. Honestly it is magnificent but did not made any sense to me.
@@juanpablosanchezaveleyra6454 "A Mexican little boy discovers the Aztec mythological journey of the soul towards the afterlife." is the video description, so it's not meant to merely be a dream world, it references Aztec culture/beliefs
These directors/animators completely understood their assignment--- this is delighftul, sad, and a sublime representation of that other side of Mexican traditions and culture we don't often see represented in media--- the master animators in Guadalajara managed to capture it and so did these directors. I'm calling it, Antoine, Clement and Rayan will make even greater things in the future. Everything about the audio is perfect too, thank you. ¡Gracias desde México!
thank you very much for those kind words
❤
Can you please elaborate what mexican traditions are depicted here? It sounds very fascinating.
@@ufinc the travel of the soul when a human dies, a xolotl dog helps to deliver the soul to the underworld. At least at one of the four underworlds ot the mesoamerican mithology.
@@periclesperez103 ohhh now I dislike it less. I thought it was creepy for creepy sake but it's actually a story

@@narwhal5447 me too but hey was it the chicken or the egg again
The first scene is an homage to The Nightmare, by Henry Fuseli, I believe. I like how at first, the bestial figure, perhaps a representation of Death, appears to be hostile, but takes the child gently into the night.
What a beautiful rendition, almost made me tear up a bit….
The dog-headed character is the xoloizcuintli dog that helps the soul in their journey to the underworld. Just like god Anubis in egyptian mithology.
Noticed that immediately too! Such a beautiful homage
I thought so too!!
@@periclesperez103 we have a traditional lullaby in Russia about a gray wolf who's stealing a baby and carry in the wood. But as in this cartoon, the wolf is not bad - he's guardian.
When art has no boundaries creativity is born.....Thank you gobelins for this show
idk how much you can call art w/o boundaries "creativity". art with boundaries are still open to the same unlimited creativity, just in a more structred setting.
@@notavailableatthemoment7623its better to limit ideas ofc
The united states military is using technology and manpower to protect deviant sadistic Child SAers that are misusing their access to advanced tools to spy on, harass, and forcibly SA children. This sometimes follows them into adulthood. Children that are still too young to know that what they are seeing is not normal are being exposed to disgusting deviant content that is forcibly shown to them by hacking their devices. Many victims may not even know they have been targeted by this, because the majority of the actual SA happens when they are slipped something that incapacitates them or they are asleep, the only reason they might know is because the perpetrator may leave behind physical evidence, like bruises, scratches, or bodily fluids. If a victim discovers what has happened to them these worms will misuse equipment and manpower to stalk, shame, mock, and generally try to make the lives of the people affected by this as hellish as possible both offline and online. They follow victims in person and try to intimidate or harass them. They generally use different people who act as though they aren't affiliated with each other and don't do anything they can be arrested for at the time of the harassment. They think they can shame and mock their victims into silence because some of what happens is coerced. These are depraved cowards that gather in groups to harass women and children just to protect deviant SAers

Literally, France has one of the best animation schools in Europe. The quality of this work seems very competitive with Japanese anime. I wish there was a whole series of this creative work.
That is true, unfortunately there seem to be no way to convince anyone to launch a real industry for animation in France. Japan has many studios, the US too, french creators beg for jobs abroad.
@@backintimealwyn5736 there are a lot of studios here in france actually ! but they work a lot for companies outside of it, usually the us, but a lot of us do stay in france !!
In my opinion, France easily trumps Japan. Japanese animation is too commercial, shackled to the popular fads and the bottom line. French animation is more artistic.
@@backintimealwyn5736 You wouldn't be able to convince anyone nowadays to start an industry in japan either. Anime and Manga artists are notoriously underpaid and overworked in Japan, to the point of death for some
@@larsbijl3300 it's a shame. Japan is a sacred cultural hub that needs to protected by all mean.

I'm always amazed by how Gobelins creates incredible masterpieces in such short videos. It's always a big inspiration to me.
Goosebumps, this is beautiful !
Thanks for the explanation!
That’s so breathtaking!
This is exactly what I felt as a little kid when I listened to mum’s lullaby.
It translates from Russian like: “Hush baby, hush, if you sleep on the side of the bed, wolf will come and take you to the forest.
As an imaginative kid I felt an absolute horror but kinda liked it.
Thank you so much! This reminded me of my childhood memory.
Another beautiful one, as a Mexican, I couldnt be happier, this is an incredible work of art 😍💕
where did our culture go wrong depriving us of art like this? what’s stopping us from creating 1 or 2 such long features a decade? Miyazaki gave us Mononoke & Spirited Away and then there were a handful more, like Paprika… i don’t know anything creative like this coming from the west 🤷
No joke, this is my favorite short animation here on RUclips and one of my favorite videos ever ❤
Both the visual and menacing audio design are amazing!
So wonderful, made me cry thinking the little boy is going to the afterlife at such a young age but what a beautiful journey
this is crazy there are lot of hidden masterpieces like this that i'll probably wont be aware of
This is so dark and so beautiful. A short about the death of an infant rendered so poetically.
This is pure art and I would love to see this story continue.
The rows of chairs suggest it was either a wake or a viewing of the dead. The purple lips and white flowers also suggests death.
This gives a lot of the vibes similar to Felix Colgrave.
My dreams...after I've eaten some spicy chinese food the night before
Wow this is great, what cohesive colours! Scenes with the character jumping, or climbing out of the mouth, just so smooth, but solid. Lifelike.
This was mesmerizing, made me cry. It looks like worlds that live in the realms of my dreams. Thank you
How many times have you watched this clip ?

This is the second best French movie about rats
Devastatingly short film. Phenomenal job directors, animators and sound designers. I hope you guys go far. A full length film in this style with this kind of music... Oscar worthy.
No story, no coherence. Just someone training their animation skills...
agree
This is absolutely on another level of quality. I'm about to watch this 10 more times. THIS IS FILMMAKING! True art. I almost forgot what real filmmaking looks like. The marriage of sound and visuals, perfect transitions guiding the viewer through the landscape and stories of the artist's imaginary world. Impeccable 👏👏👏👏
These damn furries 😤

Incroyable, je suis impressionné.
I can't get enough of this short

everyone has said great things about the animation, but the sound design is so good too!
This is some of the most beautiful animation I have seen in a long time. Congratulations, incredible work!!
Wait this isn’t a full feature yet?! Omg someone start a gofundme immediately!
What exactly does this story mean I’m confused because feel really sad watching this
Once again, a french animation school has obliterated the animation industry of my country.
You still have time to prove everyone wrong, My beloved México.
I clicked on this because I thought it read: Anxiety Festival 2023. It was the best thing I've seen in years.
Reminds me of Playground by Rodrigo Sousa somehow!
Most happy european childrens cartoon
Bruh this auto played when my mouse scrolled over it and just like that I stopped breathing. Didn't even hear anything it was that striking.
im so confused???? like what are you doing in school when you should be now playing in theaters
Did you all feel that? That was your mind doing mental gymnastics.
Is the artstyle inspired by Takato Yamamoto?
Это невероятно красиво
This would make a disturbingly good feature film.
wow this is incredible. how quickly it went from an ominous, maybe malevolent creature 'taking' a child, to a comforting, parental figure whose desire to protect can be felt from the screen
Sadly, the creature is a protective figure of the afterlife… the baby died and is safely taken away
meh.........
Does anyone know how to watch the full film? Or is this it?

Felix Colgrave 2
Absolutely magnificent! Often I come here and I see one of the best, most beautiful and inspiring animations I have ever seen, such as this one hehe unbelievable.
Does anyone know which myth this is specifically referring to? I’d love to know more
From what I quickly read, the Aztec believe the dead must travel through levels of challenges of the underworld. Xolotl, a dog-headed man, would be the guide/companion in their journey. (This is why there's so many dog remains and sculptures in Aztec burials)
from what i looked into there are several aztec underworlds dedicated to specific deaths. For instance I guess the place with the god in the ocean is Tlalocan, dedicated to the drowned. I think the aim of the carrier is to reach Chichihuacuauhco, the place for children having died in childbirth or before baptism.
Thanks for the explanations
