I saw this truck many times. The Orange Blossom Special was an exhibition truck, the weight box never moved, and it had minimal weights so he could wheelie down the track. That's not the point. This truck was an "attention getter", as Sheriff Buford T. Justice put it. On the other end of the spectrum, you had Art Arfons and his "Green Monster" disguised as two cans of horizontal busch beer cans, and that thing could pull a brick building down the block. But we didn't care. Just don't be sitting above the entrance when you hear Art''s turbines winding up, you WILL move quick. If you tell us Allen Gaines, Art Arfons, or Bob Chandler will be live tonight, we will tear up Charlie Daniel's Band or Rush tickets to go there instead - and I always ended up paying for everyone's tickets.
I was six years old the first time I saw the green monster. I'm 43 now and I have not forgotten nor seen it's equal.
Grew up watching Art; EVERY pull I saw him do he had to slam on his BRAKES as he slid past a full pull!!
