Thanks Ron. This has not been a stop on the "journey" that I've enjoyed and I've tended to skip it over. But you bring a real beauty and flow to it I that would never have discovered on my own. That's the wonderful thing about rigorously sticking to the project of doing every and all of the numbers in the book, even the ones that don't at first appeal. It pushes you (and us, your followers) to hunt for the more elusive treasures.
Just a wild guess. Mahjong is a game of Chinese origin. The tune has some pentatonic textures found in Asian music. Bartok has composed similar things based on his influence of Asian music.
Very nice lesson!
Thanks Rick - I'm glad you're finding this helpful!
I've been waiting for you to get to this tune for a while and it didn't dissapoint. Thank you!
I know the feeling - I'm waiting for Ruby My Dear!
