Underlying questions...why would the wealthy want the population to remain undereducated and denying the very science that has improved lives for generations? Additionally, why would the same wealthy heavily promote blind obedience to religion? Please, deeply consider these questions. Be well, be kind to one another❤
They want the masses undereducated and when their religious, it's even easier to control them with fear. They assume that some will have enough intelligence and/or luck to break through all the obstacles that are holding most people back and they're fine with that.
Do your homework. For one, an uneducated population doesn’t know the wealthy can make and use laws against them to benefit the oligarchs. Good example is trickle down economics. Look into that. Another is the wealthy and power brokers use religion for their same gain because now you have “god” involved telling you the same. Since 1980, 60 % of the population or more can just barely make it in life. This was all predicted by the economists . Your oligarchs and religions told you the opposite.
Blind obedience to religion prepares you to believe other stuff "on command". Gets you accustomed to take one's word as true just because he has some image of authority. That makes you more susceptible to believe things like advertisement, buy some product just because you saw it on TV and the guy (the actor) was so enthusiastic. Or on the documentary channels, believe all these reports that are fantastically inscened with lots of experts that tell you God is real, aliens come to earth, free energy and and and other nonsense. "They" (a good portion of the ultra-wealthy business elite) love to have people that are great at exactly that task you need him for and NOTHING else - what we germans call "Fachidiot". The less he knows about anything else, the more he is dependant on you and the job you give him. Especially do not teach them critical thinking, to look over the rim of your dish plate, so that you can maintain a healthy dose of scepticism AND a healthy dose of openness as you know how to quickly factcheck some claim. Obviously dozens of millions of US people have not the ability to look at Trump beyond his entertainment facade and how he appeals to ANY audience with what these want to hear, that he is a saleman and actor in TV advertisements, that his slogans have been hot air hundred,s thousands of times. That he ranges between "That is only because of ME, ME, ME" (not of what he did, but that he exists) and "I am not responsible for ANYthing", sometimes about an issue in minutes. In short, that such a person is absolutely untrustworthy and totally unpredictable, outright dangerous. Quote from Trump: "I love the poorly educated".
My thoughts for Daniel...I have watched almost every episode of Grey's Anatomy, I am furious that Cardiothoracic surgeons don't consult me on difficult cases. I mean despite not going to medical school, I certainly have an opinion too!
I will also add, for the conversation around the 50 minute mark- I heard a new argument someone made recently that might tie it all together. Paul keeps using these weird keywords that he would only be using if he had gone through a specific ritual in Jewish mysticism that is wrapped up into several other practices we now call Kabbalah. Back then, the Jews had just come out of the revolts against Rome & were working to repair their relationship. They were considering the ethical dilemma of whether or not all Romans counted as Jews & whether outsiders would or should convert to Judiasm, but when they tried, very few outsiders were interested in converting. During the revolts, several leaders had claimed to be the Messiah & this was started around the end of the reign of Herod by a Rabbi named Judas of Galilee, who founded a new order of priests called the Zealots. After the revolts ended, they threw Judas & the Zealot order under the bus & outlawed every form of thought in Rabbinical study that favored Judas' teachings- which included the form of mysticism in question. So, here is the funny part. This mysticism had a cultural memory of polytheism amongst the Jews & professed that Yahweh was secret two gods at the same time named the Father & the son (El & Yahweh), that they could take you on a tour of heaven to meet God & there your mind, body & soul would be transformed & an angel would be assigned to teach you everything anyone could possibly ever know about Judaism. By the end of the ritual, you should be a fully trained Rabbi, with all the knowledge of years of Rabbinical school imbued within you all at once. So Paul comes out of this thinking he is a fully trained Rabbi, immediately confuses the Messiah with the Son, mixed together about five different Jewish heroes, including what seems to have been a very influential & beloved Rabbi named Ieshua Ben Hananiah who was still alive at the time into a since person named Ieshu who was the Messiah & also gets into fights with several other such leaders popping up all around the exact same time for teaching false information.

Please tell me what field of research uses the logic of "If you don't personally have access to 100% of all data ever collected, and haven't personally reviewed it all, then it can't be afforded any significant level of trust". Complete BS. He wanted to soapbox. Also his take on global warming research. Maybe it would warm up anyway? Did you misunderstand the whole point about believing something based on the weight of evidence or do you believe the scientists are just guessing? There's no way he has any even remotely advanced science education. He's just convinced he's so much smarter than everyone else, that they just don't see what he sees.

When we ask the theist for the evidence of just one of their claims, we either find that their evidence does not meet the definition of evidence, or their evidence leads back to the Bible, or scripture as their accepted authority, which does not meet the standard of evidence. When a scientist makes a claim, whether they represent the scientific community solely, or they work to provide data to governments, we find that the evidence for their claims is legitimate evidence and that evidence can be traced back to their original hypothesis. The research, their experiments and their conclusions can be verified and tested. In the majority of cases, your conclusions will match the conclusions of the scientist through logical analysis. If you discover a conflict in the scientists data, they will need to rationalize the conflict, or dismiss their claim.
Regarding the flat earth boy friend: If this boyfriend is open to changing his mind if presented with evidence, maybe you are ok. Decide whether you can trust this person to make good, rational decisions for you if it ever comes to that.
25:40 I've been in a cult, against my will, a real cult, one which it is very hard to leave - in a very physical way: you are supervised all the time, even at night sort-of, and you cannot leave the premises. All the brainwashing techniques you can think of were employed, except for direct physical torture - but I'm sure it has happened, it's just not the standard way. You were physically brutalized don't get me wrong, but through the useless and extremely physically demanding tasks you were forced to accomplish from dawn till dusk. Every morning when I woke up I was depressed to still exist. Obviously it was a deviant organization rooted in the Catholic church. Not in the US. I found my way out eventually, I'm fine, the trauma mostly subsided even though some stuff is still holding me back. I don't take offense when people loosely use the term cult, but I do agree with the caller that even though cults and religions go hand in hand, it probably doesn't do good to anyone to call anything with a bunch of rules and a charismatic leader a cult. My point of view might be skewed from yours, Seth, by my experience of religion. In my country Catholicism (the dominant religion, even though most people are atheists) is extremely relaxed in general. It does quite often turn to hell in small groups which unite around it, this is true. But from what I'm seeing on RUclips about the US, our relation to religion is way less cultish than yours, I think. So maybe you're not abusing the term that much, in the context of the US at least.
I don't think the discussion is bannable or should be... Wether someone agrees or disagrees about cults and cultism and or how all religions are cults.. But they are clearly cults. Every church, of every religion is a cult.. those involved are in a cult, the ideologies and concepts and practices are of cultism. Not every part is dangerous or harmful and not everyone is as harmful as another part. But it still is cultism. It qualifies under the BITE model..it does have behavior control, information control, thought control and emotional control. Just because some aspects are not as harmful or it has developed into a religious institution ..it does not step out of being a cult and being in cultism ideologies. Just because someone can leave or step away does not mean it is not a cult. Mormonism is clearly a cult..I walked away from it.. me being able to walk away and escape it doesn't change it from being a cult. Often those in cults don't see it as a cult..that's why they are comfortable in it. Very few people go in looking and saying...I think I will join a cult today .😂 I think the exposure of how each religion and denomination is a cult .. exposing the areas that make it a cult.. educating people what a cult is, what cultism is and how to identify cult ideology is very critical to taking another huge leap forward to getting people to step away from religion and its ideologicalisms and beliefs and following in it. Make them aware, get them to start looking. All religions, in all denominations qualify as a cult.. pure and simple.. clear as day. You can test the bite model to ideologies and concepts and things of beliefs held taught..the way it is taught. Positions held, ideologies about things, the way they govern themselves and followers..the ideals behind all these things.. you will clearly see they fit all areas of the bite model and taking each individual specific area, subject, and point as a score card and scoring it on a scale..all of these areas will score in various areas of the bite model and in every area multiple times. I shared this before in a discussion with someone who argued the same point as the caller. I shared that even if the test group scored just one point in each area of the bite model . It is a cult. It does not matter if you compared it to the one that scored 100 points in each area or ten points or five ..or a few points here and there and more points in one area and just one point in this one spot.. it scored points in each category area and thus it is a cult Give it the label it deserves and fits.. educate people about cultism in general and what it is..then guide them through the steps to watch and put whatever denomination of whatever religion through the tests.. let them score it.. get them to be honest. Honest to themselves and about the subject..be neutral about it. I did this to a friend who was a Protestant Christian and had him write up a test scale of questions and areas to each of the categories of the bite model and sub categories.. branch it out.. then I told him to test it with Mormonism...then Catholicism and the areas of other Christianity... Methodist, Lutheran, Calvinism, Protestant, JW, and others.. He saved his for last and got only half way through and started to see his has all to most of the same answers and scoring as all the others. Now he is still a believer..but it shook him up.. he rather just forget about it than address it
I think some people, like Seth, use the most expensive definition of religion. I don’t consider those expansive beliefs as religion, they are beliefs or communities (ie the UU’s). Religions are cults because religion needs the control, the coercion, and the power disparity to make it a religion separate from a belief system or cultural group.
Sociology makes an easy and accurate distinction between a religion and a cult. Religion is a belief system that offers believers a way to view reality and accepts that there are other valid views. A cult believes that it has the exclusive and only valid answers for reality and believes that all who don't see it their way are wrong and damned in some way. By this definition, only Christianity among the major religions is a cult. In the text it clearly says the ONLY WAY TO THE FATHER IS THROUGH THE SON....it is an exclusive view of belief that is undeniable. Islam believes itself to be the "final" revelation, but does not believe Jews, Christians etc. to be excluded.
In original Eslaum you get what you deserve. The Truth/Justice...Goodness is above all/Allauh/Lord or call Him/It whatever you want, a true believer does not love even their own son if the son acts in opposition to Allauh, so if his or her own son wrongs a stranger then the true believer protects the stranger and punishes the guilty son. In the Qur'an Allauh did not even order Ebrahem or Abraham to slaughter his innocent son. Islam on TV with a moon symbol is fake, its Judaism and Freemasonry. Also, blind following is forbidden in Eslaum as it is same as worshiping, it is idolatry/sherk, there is no "sheikhs" in Eslaum, there is no rabbis/experts/gods/masters and laymen like in Judaism. Images are not forbidden in Eslaum. The Zion "news" is lies. There is no evidence of invisible thing floating around that can make you die if you dont let the sorcerers inject something in your blood, just like there is no evidence that Osama destroyed Jew York with civilian airplanes, and he even said in a video that he and Afghan people did not do it, and then the Zionists killed him in 2001 and used an actor with a rubber mask or whatever to say crazy things on TV. Kabbalah teaches conformism. USA, Russia, Saudi, Iran, China...are all one same thing acting to be different and enemies of each other. Biden, Trump, Putin, etc are actors. The elections are not only rigged like that actor Trump said and then won the elections trying to convince you that elections are not rigged and Democracy is real. The elections are completely fake, it is a TV show. They have these actors to act like clowns, and then the Zionists associate these clowns and their dumb supporters and their stupid and fake conspiracy theories to real people who were saying for years that elections are fake and that the news is literally fake. Palestine is a trick. We are ALL occupied.

That last caller is a classic contrarian.
Game recommendation: Baldur's Gate 3. One of the best soundtracks ever, heavy on role-playing, plenty of stuff to explore if you want.
I PLAYED BRAMBLE THE MOUNTAIN KING, i love that game ❤
That's one of the craziest sounding titles I think I've ever seen LOL
Daniel.
What is causing the current global warming 🤔?
I think global warming is caused by man. Others think it's just god hugging us closer.
My thoughts for Daniel...I have watched almost every episode of Grey's Anatomy, I am furious that Cardiothoracic surgeons don't consult me on difficult cases. I mean despite not going to medical school, I certainly have an opinion too!
Bwahaha we made our child (age 20 now) start on the Atari so that he could appreciate how awesome games are now!
Seth, my first gaming console was the Atari 5200 which I enjoyed for a while but eventually got bored with. Traded it for a good used lawn mower.
Good show, Bubs.
Regarding flat earth, the "Final Experiment" has just been performed, where a bunch of flat earthers were shipped to Antarctica to experience the midnight sun (that would be impossible on the FE model). Quite interesting
34:02 I had a friend whose parents named him fish. 😵💫
34:55 oh wow, didn't expect to hear shin megami tensei
I still don’t understand the point Daniel was trying to make. I’m glad you understood it😂
The last caller rambles on and then accuses Seth of "talking too long"...
Sure he's mad that he _feels_ like he's not being heard, he thinks his questions aren't being answered, when he probably is being heard AND answered and just ignores it.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
51:00 This guy rambles all over multiple subjects for minutes at a time, and yet wants to criticize you for talking too long for him to answer. Curious
Yeah the last guy was another one where I believe he's lying about being something. "My field of research".
Bro im seconding the shin megami tensei games! I will note that the games have different alignment based endings 4 and 4A are on the 3ds, so you might need an emulator. SMT5 has 2 versions on the modern consoles and i think that one is peak gameplay, but the story isnt as good as 4. Some of the best turn based combat ive played. 5 is also very referential to smt3, but its not needed to play 3.
Damn Daniel!
Daniel is such an annoying caller. Refusing to listen and avoiding question
Decide whether you can trust this person to make good, rational decisions for you if it ever comes to that.
...and their not multibillionaires pushing buttons of the common people.
Where does that last caller draw the line between skepticism and misanthropy?
Very few people go in looking and saying...I think I will join a cult today .😂
I think the exposure of how each religion and denomination is a cult .. exposing the areas that make it a cult.. educating people what a cult is, what cultism is and how to identify cult ideology is very critical to taking another huge leap forward to getting people to step away from religion and its ideologicalisms and beliefs and following in it.
It does not matter if you compared it to the one that scored 100 points in each area or ten points or five ..or a few points here and there and more points in one area and just one point in this one spot.. it scored points in each category area and thus it is a cult
Give it the label it deserves and fits.. educate people about cultism in general and what it is..then guide them through the steps to watch and put whatever denomination of whatever religion through the tests.. let them score it.. get them to be honest.
Now he is still a believer..but it shook him up.. he rather just forget about it than address it
All religion, apart from mine, is a cult... Said by everyone in a religion
These skeptics won't trust scientists but they will trust their auto mechanic and their insurance agent.🤦🤦🤦🤦
