Wojciech Kilar is a Polish composer of film and classical music who studied at the Academy of Music in Katowice and then in Paris. At the same time, he continued to compose symphonic music, chamber music and then works for solo instruments. He also wrote several pieces of religious music, to which he attached great importance, notably his « Missa pro pace » (Mass for Peace). His style rightly prefigures contemporary music. « Orawa » for chamber string orchestra crowns a series of Wojciech Kilars compositions inpsired by highland folklore. Since its first performance in Zakopane in 1986 it has been a success in concert halls, delighting with its spontaneity, energy and temperament. In an interview the composer mentioned that he had dreamed of creating a piece inspired by highlander band and realized this dream in Orawa. It is a pretty piece for a magnified folk band and one of the rare examples where the composer is happy. Tradition is respected until its last note. It is a melody where the harmony follows poetic inspirations. *Lucien*
Wow ! A wonderful music with a lesson ❤ ! Its sequence gets the mind moving. It begins with a suspense & slowly grows to a pursuit, indicating that in life,we should always be active & not give up hopes but continue till we are successful ! Thanks ❤

Fascinating! Seldom you can hear minimalistic music with a Chamber Orchestra with only strings.
Fits best into our time and yet..
Maravilhoso. Curtindo aqui na madrugada do Brasil com um ótimo vinho. Paz e Bem!
Lindo demais!

This piece of "art" is like a banana on display in a modern art museum.
Me recuerda a Nikos Skalcottas, con sus danzas.
:-/ knap gedaan maar het is geen muziek, zeker niet voor de doorsnee mens
I’d be interested in hearing what your definition of “music” is?
Je zal toch maar een doorsnee mens zijn...
