That piece that you weren't sure what it was is a USB and HDMI cable clip. You can route the cable through it so that they don't get unplugged accidentally.

Nikon is still an iconic brand in the world of photography. It started in 1917 and about 4 years later they came out with the first binoculars and finally in 1933 with the delivery of Aero-NIKKOR, a NIKKOR lens designed for aerial photography. The rest is history. I had developed my very first photo in high school in 1976 and that's when my love for photography was born. Only shot with Nikon DSLR in recent years. From the Nikon D60 to recently with the D7200 and even with the D90. But now I switched to MFT because it is lighter in weight and the lens range is amazing. But I'm still in love with Nikon...
Japan really hits above its weight by having five of the most popular camera manufacturers originate there (Nikon, Canon, Sony, Panasonic, and Olympus). Pretty impressive IMO.
Congrats John ! I just got mine yesterday and I couldn’t help going over the top and grabbed the 70-200 VR . I already had the 50 1.8 and 85 1.8 so I thought I’d enjoy being able to grab those portrait shots between 100mm up to 200 mm . Can’t wait to try it out ! Thanks for the unboxing 👌🏼
Great video John! Though I am not usually into unboxing videos, I found yours straightforward and informative. I look forward to seeing some of the images you create with the Z8.
@@Photojouralist123 I’m sure. The Z camera we’ve been waiting for since the launch of the original Z6 and Z7. Oh, just got a notification from FedEx that it will arrive in a couple of hours from now instead of tomorrow. Paul’s Photo in California is amazing! Pre-ordered there and opted for affordable shipping, but ends up still arriving earlier than expected.
QUESTION: I bought my Z8 from Best Buy and though I have bought dozens of Nikons from Best Buy, I am always concerned that I am going to get one of their RETURNS REPACKAGED. When you unboxed your Z8, was there an acetate protector covering the top LCD of the camera or just one covering the REAR LCD? Mine only had ONE protective cover on the REAR LCD, there was NO COVER on the TOP LCD WINDOW. Thanks!
Why is the Nikon Z8 box not sealed? All my Nikon lenses and cameras (no Nikon Z8) are in sealed boxes. How do you know you have got a ""brandnew"" camera?
Congrats Sir! did you order this Z8 through a local camera store or you bought it online? I'm holding up to purchase it now in anticipation of a long long waiting list. I like it coz its the size of my ex body, which is the D850. In today's world, if one could obtain a good hybrid body for the money, then the Z8 is a no brainer actually. When it effectually gets to my hands, I only need to get 2 extra EN-CL 15C, when I go about using it. i hike a lot, so having spare batteries is essential. Camera aside, it is also those Z lenses that contributes to the overall shooting experience. Virtually, all f4 lenses in the Z family are way way better then their F mount counterpart. Even the little ZFC with its 16-50 DX kit lens is superb
With the Z8 Body (new) selling at RM18,338 and Z9 Body (used) at RM19k-RM20k, which model will be the better buy? For shooting Sports & Action photography Thank you Sir
Oh wow good question I think I would lean towards the Z8 just because of the weight and size which to me is a big difference with similar performance .
@@waynerm002 If you owned both model, which camera you will used more often on paid assignment. The confidence that this model will deliver the outcome as expected
@@ariffinaziz2072 Both will deliver as they are pretty much the same however, the Z9 is the professional version, built with no compromise. Based on the numbers you gave, I would get the Z9. @@Photojouralist123 I bought one today with the 12-28mm DX Zoom lens. I now have the complete FX/DX Nikkor Z Primes and Zooms under $1500. I also have the F mount Tamron 24-70mm and the 70-200mm F/2.8 lens with this collection. Cheers!
What causing the confusion? What are you looking for and want to compare? I have the A7R V, will do a video on them in a couple of days, once I get mine.
When unboxing a new camera, immediately upon holding it you should have commented on how it feels in the hand, ie does it feel solid or plasticky like so many Mirrorless cameras.

Moz, you know John, video isn't going to be done on those cameras, except when I get there and record him. He shoots with his iPhone. 😀
Hey thanks Mozman!
I have to say, props to you for actually nailing the lighting for a video. It’s not a common thing on RUclips.

From my point, Z9 will be your backup soon, Z8 looks so convenient, why don't you draw it out from your backpack first.
