Please make sure your cats *always* have access to clean water! Especially when they are locked in. Imagine being locked in somewhere yourself and parched with thirst with no way of getting a drink.
How is it that your local bldg. Dept will continue to issue you new permits yet your original home structure is still unsided for over 3 years now. Do you live in a community that doesn't require building permits/inspections? How have you gotten a certificate of occupancy when so much of your home is unfinished? Could you Do a video on these points and explain more about your process of building. That would be very interesting to see and might explain a lot! Thanks!
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving That would be great. I've lived in both kinds of places where building was highly regulated and where they required very little or none. Mostly just to hook to any municipality services and you seem rural enough that only your septic would require oversight!? I have loved watching every minute of you and your families adventures btw! I am a Idahoan too! 57 years now! Be safe when working! Thanks!
Looks Great! Worst part of painting is all the taping and plastic cover prep work. Best part of painting is when you take all the tape and plastic down, after painting, and see the fruits of your labor.
The wall paint turned out really nice, and I'll bet spraying it is alot faster and easier. It's one task in home ownership I find a way out of, painting and drywall...lol Love what ya'll are doing ❤️
I just finished using electric blowing and pushing the snow off our deck, 3ft of power, its dumping big time again until Wed morning.Per weather report another 4 ft at our elevationof 6,400 ft. I am so tired, having a cup of coffee and watching you vid with all of you working so hard and now I am exhauste. Looks great guys, keep up the outstanding work, love your channel and family.
when you roll you have to paint it twice plus your primer before painting also here a tip rent a floor sander and sand vacuum and mop floor before installing floor or you will have dust problems later and if you are installing an engineered floor lay a piece of 4mm or 6mm plastic sheeting to keep your floor floating ie all snap together are engineered - the plastic helps even a nail floor - the plastic is a problem if you glue the floor LOL
The house looks beautiful!!! So glad the sheet rocking and painting are done !!! I know that is a big burden off of you !!! Now to the fun part, adding the finishing touches !!! Can’t wait !! Love all of you guys !!!
It looks really good! I know you like the texture on the walls but I always go smooth finish on my own house ! If you ever have to make a repair to a wall you have to literally do the whole wall to get it to blend right! You guys rock with how hard you work on your house !
They make a roller that you use with a spayer system. Works great to roll a lot of paint fast. You just push the trigger for a second or 2 to add more paint. Then you have someone back roll behind you. Might want to look into it.
- I saw a old painter tip regarding painting clothes. Turn your work clothes inside out when you paint. - Use a thin layer of Vaseline on exposed skin while spray painting
That was a lot of work. Looks great guys. How many hours did it take for the last two coats of white to paint on? Good idea to roll it after painting it. Your getting there. Starting to look more like a home inside. Thanks guy.
Good afternoon good morning you guys hope you guys are having a great day keep up the good work and make sure all the kids are in the animals are going okay and the may God bless you 🌳🌵😄💙🏡🐶🐶💯❤️😀😀
Hey Martin I noticed in your video that when you were in the bathroom that you do not have a shower or tub installed. I mention this as I have installed two different showers and have used a shower pan that is really awesome. The pan that I used is from Redi Tile out of Florida. I am not connected or affiliated with them - I actually wanted to install a shower pan that I did not need to build and then Hot Mop and test. Anyways I would check with them and they might be interested in working with you and your You Tube team to show off their products. Just thinking. You are doing such a great job. The biggest things that I really like about your channel is that you are teaching your family how to build a house and all of the details that come about. You are also teaching a lot of others out there how to do this as well. Good Job Martin Johnson family!!!
Have been following your videos since you guys started and coming to this stage of the built is incredible. What a beautiful home you guys have created and its going to look like a million dollar home when finish.
I am so looking forward to seeing that home full of people! I think some ceiling fans should be on the top where the ceilings meet, to force air back down. That way the love loft won't be so hot!
Great job guy's! You are zipping along. What are you going to do when you actually get finished? You'll be wandering around the property toting a camera and talking to yourselves 🤣🤣🤣.
Another great video. A shoutout to Seth for his excellent editing skills. If I remember right, he started editing when you were doing your "video a day" challenge December before last.
when are you going a rail up there in the loft for safety it scares me one might trip and of off that something and that would so bad the paint job look great lol
Visit birchliving.com/martinjohnson to get 20% off your mattress, plus two free pillows. We have been sleeping great in this mattress.
You’re gonna want to remove the toilet and paint behind the reservoir
Papa Ompaloompa, looks Great guys. God Bless.
Please make sure your cats *always* have access to clean water! Especially when they are locked in. Imagine being locked in somewhere yourself and parched with thirst with no way of getting a drink.
When I saw the thumbnail... I was thinking Ooompa-Loompas
I did, too!
All of you are AMAZING! Your working so very hard. The great room is going to be STUNNING! I think your going to need a vacation after the Wedding!
safety sally's tag needs to be fixed safety is misspelled.
Painters tip,, rub a little vaseline on your face before spraying,, the paint will wash off easier, maybe even wipe off... great job lookin good 👍👍
Glasses for spray painting come with peel off layers of thin plastic lens that you peel off as needed when seeing becomes blocked
Awesome Pak Martin From Malaysia 🇲🇾
With that much painting to do, I would have gone with the 18 inch rollers.
My husband did spray back in his day,he was a racoon when he came home every day. You guys are doing great. Love the family affair!😀
Never understood why you guys decorated (paint) before you’ve finished, we’d never do that here in England 🏴

We don’t need a certificate of occupancy. I’ll try to remember to talk about it in the next video.

I hope Safety Sally doesn't melt, sitting so close to the wood stove! Wouldn't that be the definition of irony! 😂
Safety Sally is creeeeepy!!!😳😱
Spray and back roll!!!
We called the thin spots, Holiday’s
The great room looks so big now. Looks awesome!
How do you plan on heating the main home? Wood is great when you are at home but you must have something up your sleeve for when you are away.
The wall paint turned out really nice, and I'll bet spraying it is alot faster and easier. It's one task in home ownership I find a way out of, painting and drywall...lol Love what ya'll are doing ❤️
For large surfaces you should use the biggest roller that you can buy,for smaller areas use the radiator rollers that you've got.
When I saw the walls I was thinking "hang on the 80's are back in Idaho". Have not seen textured plastering used in 30+ years
It must be making a comeback. I've seen at least three other homesteader new builds using that technique.
I’m going to grow out some BIG hair too 🤣
You need accent colored wall or some wild tile like turquoise and blue in kitchen. Every room in my house is different color.
What was so embarrassing? Great job painting!👍
Our tellatubies suits.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving LOL you could clearly see from the paint in your hair and face that you didn't wear your hood.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving I'm an Respiratory Therapist and we have to put those suits on when we transport a patient into VIR or OR. I hate them.
It must be nice to be warmer while you are working.
Definitely one of the finest families on YT. Thanks Johnsons.
Thank you! 😊

I still know the day when Safety Sally came up the first time. From that moment on i was always waitimg for here, haha.
That’s why I use paint pads you get a better finish and without the mess of rollers
I found a white paint that goes on pink so I didn't miss spots.
I just did the same for the last 3 days hate painting got a great friend to help.
Why do you put texture on your walls. I’m in Australia and we don’t do it here.
What a wonderful thing to design and build your own home, I would love to do that. Can’t wait for Sarah’s wedding and to see the finished project.
It looks so good, especially after looking at the plastic for all those years.
When painting a textured surface use the fluffiest roller you can find.
Looking good.

LOL, that's actually Safty Sally, who is presumably Safety Sally's evil doppelganger
IT LOOKS LIKE THE SUPERBOWL HALF TIME SHOW! Just need the red suit! Lol. GOOD JOB!
Paint looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Place is looking really good!
WOW looks so nice! God bless you guy's!
My my my, now u can use ANY COLOR ANYWHERE!!!!
Use a flashlight, shine it on the painted areas. You will see all the areas you missed. I call them shadow areas.
Coming along so fast! You guys are rockstars.
Did we miss the video of installing that mini split in the loft??
Fantastic work. Very well done, the space, view and how it will be so much appreciate after such long hard work time in the large process ❤
Looking sooooooo good! Looking forward to the rooms completed.

Bug good goggles. And think about all of the overspray that went on the goggles would otherwise have gone in your eyes.

As I said in the previous video, you were smart hiring a drywall company to install & tape the sheetrock.
- I saw a old painter tip regarding painting clothes. Turn your work clothes inside out when you paint.

Yall are doing an Amazing job, FYI. Such a great job as a family building the dream.
Are you going to show your daughters wedding online I’d like to see that

You did an amazing job. Your Great room looks GREAT. Thanks for the video. Love it.
The daffodils are starting to bloom down here 😁
Good afternoon from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Great job on painting the interior of your house. 🇺🇸👍
When painting, use a bit of vaseline and coat your face and hands. The paint will not stick...
Good morgan Julie and Martin. You are getting closer to opening the last box on this project. Have good days!
Getting it done. Looks super good. thanks for sharing
Not sure I like everything white. I would have done a few walls different shades of grey. But.everyone is different.
If your goggles get covered in paint put a little cooking oil on your finger then smear it on your goggles and the paint will wipe off.
Great progress with the priming and painting!! Whew! What a job!
NICE JOB GUYS. LOOKING SOO VERY NICE. LOVE Y'ALL
Looking really great people. Will be interesting to see how it all finishes out
Great video thanks for sharing. Kevin

Looks great! Planning on an accent wall to add a libit color?
I am so looking forward to seeing that home full of people! I think some ceiling fans should be on the top where the ceilings meet, to force air back down. That way the love loft won't be so hot!
Wow, Seth is a really good video editor! Tell him he does a great job!

Great progress! You can see the finish line now. Yay!
Looks like a great yard sale find of ghost busters suits, love the videos. Keep smiling 😸
Great job you three, not or the feint hearted, looking great
Marty, you need a belt! I may have seen some "cracks" in your work. ; ) Great job, though. I can't wait to see it all done.
Having done a lot of what you are doing, I'm glad it's you and not me 😊. Y'all are doing an amazing job 👌
I wonder why did you chose to use roller instead of a paint gun?
HI YOU ARE GOOD MAN AND YOUR WIFE . VERRY GOUD WORK
I watched the whole video. What is embarrassing? What did I miss
What a huge change! You guys are doing great!
Great team work! It looks great.
Good job Seth on editing you’re doing a great job
