Dear India Today There many minority communities in India. Please bring out series on being a Parsi in India. Being a Jain in India. Being a buddist in India ,being a Christian in India. However, what General Shah tells us that since AMU Aligarh had departments like Urdu, Islamic Studies, and other related to islamic culture and religion is the reason for more muslims being there. There is serious flaw in this argument. I would like General Shah to correct himself before he uses this argument in his speeches. What is the reason that department of computer science, dept of electrical engineering, civil engineering, faculty of medicine have more than 90% faculty from muslim community only. It is not just more, at is overwhelmingly 90 or 95% more. There is no issue if there are more muslim students due to minority character of AMU Aligarh. But is it through statutes or parliamentary acts that there is reservations for faculty and teaching staff in AMU Aligarh. It is fine if it is due to reservation policy, if not then rather than muslim community, the non muslim community should complain about the biased and communal oriented behaviour being practiced at the AMU Aligarh for many decades. My personal opinion is that muslims should be supported and encouraged to go for education. Govt must support through a policy framework. However a cover up won't help muslim education or General Shah does not seem to has the understanding of factual situation, and he rather bases his argument on hearsay.

Yes, for your information, there is reservation for internal students for admission in professional courses like engineering, medicine, management etc. Internal means, thise students who have passed their qualifying examination from the AMU.
