The Kung Fu series, back in the early seventies was an eye opener into Kung Fu, even though a ficticious programme it highlighted the Shaolin priests and their craft.- Iy was also something else on the entertainment scope of value- we were hooked!

fun fact, Kung Fu doesnt mean Martial Arts, Kung in Kung Fu means Work and Fu means Bitter, so together it make Work Bitter which means Hardwork.. and this video pretty much shows why it is called that.
fun fact 2, the kanji for Kung Fu is written as 功夫, which literal translation means Accomplished Man... yes, the word Kung Fu have double meaning... if you put in the work, eventually you'll become accomplished.

The ball-kicking anxiety thing could work, but only through the placebo effect, which is very powerful and should not be underestimated.
So, I think it probably does work to reduce anxiety for them, because of their strong belief in it.
