HELL YES! Her live performances are incredible and she doesn't lip sync.
Yes she does. Every. Single. Performer. Does. Get it in your brain that that is NOT an insult, and it’s NOT a discredit to her abilities. No, it’s not entirely lip synced. Obviously. But she _does_ record lead and backup vocals for the tour version of the songs, which are played during the performances. This is STANDARD. Same with the backup singers. It literally is meant to fill out the sound, provide depth, under-harmonies, and vocal relief since she is literally performing back to back nights for so many weeks in a row. Just because she’s your favorite and she CAN and DOES sing live, doesn’t mean that every single show is entirely live. That’s so ignorant I don’t even know if I should laugh or not
@@Hey_Jamiedamn why you hate Taylor, there are obviously backup vocals and such and you can hear it at her eras tour, but she does sing live. If you listen to certain songs at the eras tour it’s only her singing with backup vocals and not even her backup dancers because she lets them get breaks but the only breaks she has is giving speeches to the crowd or changing outfits

Calvin Harris also didn’t want her to use her own name as the co- writer for This is what you came for song that Calvin & Taylor co- wrote for Rhianna. She used the name Nils Sjoberg. That name also appears on the headstone next to her Reputation headstone in the video for Look what you made me do.

You’re right that the media was horrible to her in the couple years leading up to this, she had those really public relationships with Calvin Harris and then Tom Hiddleston and then Kim and Kanye did her so dirty. So she disappeared. And the came back with this album. It was fantastic.

This song is not even about an ex 😂 it’s towards clapping back at Kanye (and Kim) after she’s had enough. The whole Reputation album is practically a clap back at all her haters, famous or not. Like Blank Space, she plays a lot into what the media says about her. For a while, she used the negativity towards her as a jump off for creativity.
And for the record, she didn’t date guys the way the media like to make it look 💀 god forbid she gets sat next to a male at some dinner party or award show and some poparrazi across the room gets a shot of them and BAM “who’s this new guy” headlines everywhere and then whatever song she puts out , “Omg it’s about him!” 🙄. The tabloids are evil like that. They need their scoops 😝😝
Thanks for giving us the correct information for this video. Remember, we are new to Taylor and we are simply giving our first reactions to what we see and hear in each video. With each new video we learn a little more about her. And, all the Swifties like yourself have been amazing at correcting us and giving us more information to understand Taylor better.
@@DANDJREACT I just wanna add that I think the first verse is about KimYe, but the second verse is about Calvin Harris. She actually wrote his song "This Is What You Came For" feat. Rihanna, but she wrote under a pseudonym so as not to overshadow him. Not long before they broke up, he did an interview and was asked if he'd ever collaborate with her. He said no & that he didn't see that ever happening (after she'd written his biggest hit). *if he drops my name, then I owe him nothin - and if he spends my change then he had it comin* After that interview, she let it leak that she'd written his song, and all hell broke loose. He had a tantrum and trashed her on Twitter. It was ugly.
The whole point is, she didn't really do anything bad, but since she'd been accused of it, she embraced that character and wrote this banger. Yes, she danced with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala that year while she was still with Calvin, but their relationship was toxic and pretty much over at that point. Idk if this is true, but a source close to her at the time said Calvin was intimidated by her success & stopped attending any event with her if he wasn't also being honored/nominated. She was co-chair of the Met Gala that year, and he didn't go.
Also, I know a lot of people have pointed this out, but she's not a serial dater and hasn't left a trail of broken-hearted guys in her wake. She's dated a pretty normal amount, and most of those relationships were when she was a teenager or in her early 20s. But because she started her career writing about fairytales and break-ups, that's what the media and general public have grabbed onto, as a way to dismiss her talent. Nobody fixates on how many women male artists have dated. It's a misogynistic standard that really needs to GO.
That being said, I don't fault you for your reaction, because that's pretty much the narrative when it comes to Taylor Swift and it's hard to see past it if you're not familiar with her as an artist. I still enjoy your reactions & hope you keep doing them :)
One last thing - I personally think her performance of this song is much better on the Reputation tour, which is on Netflix. It's🔥.

She is not a witch. She is just getting back at people who did her wrong and bullied her. Also, the old men reference from Don't Blame Me is her speaking about how media portrays her love life as. They call her a serial dater and player when she is not that person they try to portray her as.
That was Camila Cabello not Selena who was jamming along, but both Selena and Camila are Taylor's good friends.
And that guy who was smiling at her at the end isn't her ex, it's Shawn Mendes, he opened for Taylor's 1989 Tour and he also was a feature on Remix of Taylor's song Lover. Taylor and Shawn are just friends.

This, Look What You Made Me Do, and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things are directed at Kanye/Kim. Basically the running theme of the album includes a snake because that's what they and many people were calling Taylor at the time of their feud. She's a master at taking criticism and turning it around in her favor.
i love watching these videos cause even though you guys don't know everything about taylor, you're learning. i became a fan with reputation and some of the songs messages i didn't get until recently (she hides a lot of them haha).
fun fact: throughout the whole song she says "THEY SAY i did something bad", and only says "i did something bad" in the title!! (that's one i realized this year)

First half of the song is about her situation with her ex Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston. Second part of the song when the dancers dropped to the floor is when the songs shifts to the Kanye West and Kim Kardashian feud. The reason Taylor says "they’re burning all the witches even if you aren’t one" is because she was being cancelled for an edited phone conversation between her and Kanye, where they tried to say Taylor approved Kanye’s song of him calling Taylor a bitch. EVERYONE Started calling Taylor a snake and a liar. She was receiving so much hate from the media/social media etc and turned on her. But the real unedited phone conversation was leaked 4 years later and revealed Taylor was telling the truth the whole time. It was a horrible time for her and swifties.

This is more about how people believe everything that news says about artists
People often confuse the meaning of lyrics by only focusing on one part. "they say i did something bad"=>'they say' is the key section. It's what the media is saying. They say she did something bad. So she responds, "but why's it feel so good?"; meaning that it was not that bad or even not bad at all. Calvin Harris dropped her name of a song. Taylor wrote "this is what you came for" and used a pseudonym as a songwriter so that the focus would not be on the couple (Taylor and calvin) writing a song together. But when Calvin was asked if he would ever collaborate with Taylor, he said never. So Taylor is singing "if he drops my name then i owe him nothing". I think the song is also directed to Tom hiddleston. She dated him right after Calvin. But Tom was always using Taylor's name as a publicity tool. That's why she sings "i never trust a playboy but they love me, i fly him all around the world.." (Taylor and Tom traveled a lot). The bridge of the song is direct to Kimye+the media. She's not a witch or a snake but if people are gonna tell her what she is, she'll write songs from that perspective. It's always fun for us as fans to try and decipher the meaning, but everyone can relate to this song because rumours are always affecting people and people always judge people. The many layers of her songs is what makes her craft this powerful.

I really like I Did something bad bc its sort of the lord bad ass rebel version of blank space. While blank space is more of the petty sassy popular girl side of it, I Did Something bad is like A huge "fuck you" to the media where she actually admits she enjoys toying with men and breaking their hearts bc they deserve it in the end.

About Calvin Harris…In 2016 he had a hit song “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna…Taylor wrote it under a pseudonym and sang in chorus, yet Calvin while promoting the hit song cited during an interview with Ryan Seacrest that he could not foresee himself collaborating with Swift, he said “You know, we haven’t even spoken about it,” he told Seacrest while promoting the song. “I can’t see it happening though.”
Obviously she was hurt, they were still a couple, and she even helped him promote it.
Big mistake on national TV.
He should not have lied. He could have answered something like “who knows”.
So when it was known that she did write it, he went on a Twitter rant saying not so nice things about Taylor.
Apparently he was intimidated by her success.
After that came Kanye West lying and Kim Kardashian’s “snake-gate” editing a phone call, etc…
Taylor stayed away for a year, then came out with Reputation using the “snake” to her benefit. And the rest is history. Taylor is very talented, kind and generous, she’s also savvy.

She dated Calvin Harris for 18 months and he kind of neglected her. But what really did was that she had co-written a song with him, This Is What You Came For, and it was a hit. Then in an interview he said he would never collab with her and his tone and face made it seem like she wasn’t worthy of collaborating with, so she let it out that she co-wrote the song and provided backing vocals. While this was happening, she went to the Met Gala, alone, and Tom Hiddleston paid her a lot of attention and said things I think Calvin never did. Calvin really kind of took her for granted and I don’t think he really appreciated her success (he didn’t even go to the Grammys with her when she was up for AOTY for 1989, and she won). But Tom was very clearly a rebound, and after about 3-4 months she broke it off. A month or two later she started seeing Joe (though we didn’t know it). She wrote several songs about this time and what happened (I Did Something Bad, Getaway Car and Bejeweled).

Oof some of this commentary was quite hard to hear from you guys when its obvious you didnt understand the intent behind the song. Shes had partners use her for her name and fame which she doesnt stand for, then when she leaves the media label her as a serial dater etc or a psycho ex for singing about her own life (they're burning all the witches even if you arent one). I think I did something bad is one of her most powerful songs because its her standing up refusing to let others spin their own narrative of her, shes taking back her own voice to speak about her experiences. Most Lover songs are about Joe (those are not heartbreak songs), Shake It Off and Blank Space aren't breakup songs, many songs from reputation are about Joe and not about her exes or heartbreaks and many more to name. If you look at her career, you could chop it in a few pieces:
- The country origins:
It includes three albums: debut (self-titled), Fearless and Speak Now. It's country, it's fresh, most of it is a bit naive, and it is full of themes related to high school, teenage love, friendship and such. Her problems with kanye west start in this phase of her career at the mtv awards, when he jumps on stage, steals the microphone, and tell her she doesn't deserve the award she's won.

This transition takes two albums, if you want: Red is still teoretically country, but it's cristal clear that she's transitioning to pop, both in her music and her looks, while 1989 is her first full pop album, and is brimming with pop hits. She's not a teenager anymore, and it shows: some themes are similar (love and friendship), some are new - for example she starts to sing about her experience with fame (the lucky one, nothing new, i know places, wonderland...). The way she talks about the old themes is new though: it's no teenage love, it's something more complex and deep that she sings about now. Red is her only real break-up album, and it's believed to be about her relationship with one guy (jake jillenhal) and most of 1989 is believed to be about another (harry styles).

After the bad press and the hate that happend in 2016 she disappeared for a year, and the comeback was reeally something. Reputation is an album that had this really dark and "villanous" facade that played with her bad reputation, turning it in a rebrending, but to it's core it was a delicate and really romantic love story. On it you have songs that play with her new villanous persona (I did something bad, look what you made me do, etc), and others that are about how, in the middle of that mayhem, she found serenity and stability in a love story kept private away from the public eye (delicate, call it what you want, new years day...). It marked the beginning of a six years love story.
Then you have Lover: the rainbow after the storm. A mostly bubbly album, it's full of love songs for Joe, but it also includes songs about other types of love, like "soon you'll get better", which is about her mother's illnes. In this album she also touches on political topics in songs like the man, you need to calm down and Miss americana & the heartbreak prince. In this phase she also starts writing and directing her own videoclips, and since then she never stopped (it's rumored she's now working on a movie).

Covid disrupts normal life, and in isolation Taylor starts writing songs about fictional caracters and other people's stories, plus her and Joe start writing music together. Two "sister albums" come out of it: Folklore and Evermore. The vibe is reminiscing, introverted, delicate.

Taylor starts re-recording her old records, the ones she still doesn't own, which she re-publishes adding some songs that, at the time, didn't make the cut - she calls them "from the vault tracks". While going down memory lane because of the re-recordings she also writes a new album in which she looks back at 13 sleepless nights that happend at different points of her life, and calls it Midnights. Then she goes on a tour which could be the biggest of all times if I'm not wrong, with a tracklist which includes 44 songs from her whole discography. This is where we're at.

Pretty sure verse 1 is about Calvin Harris and verse 2 is about Tom Hiddleston. But saying she did something bad or more about her reputation and less about reality. Like people are saying what she did is bad and twisting her actions. So she's taking back the narrative. But she dated Calvin for a whole year. She wanted that relationship to work but it was toxic and so she used Tom as a Getaway Car.
