- the first plan didnt work out for the key, so plan B it is. lets take the whole ignition to the locksmiths and get them to make a key from that instead.

Thank you for this video! I subscribed! I recently had a bad situation with my gs 500.. i was driving and then my key fell out and some bimmer driver drove right over it. And now i have to change the ignition and this video helped me achieve it! Support al the way from the Netherlands
Ah thats bad luck, hopefully you'll he back on the road soon. Glad the video helped. Thanks for the support. 👍👍
Nice, your video just safed me a lot of money. I read in forums about how to remove the ignition but couldnt really relate. this helped me a lot. Thank you
Great, glad it helped. Thanks for watching. 👍👍
Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe Rich
Cheers. You too.
Enjoyed watching Rich, progress is progress mate...the sv shock will make a big difference no doubt and the exhaust looks awesome too!..look forward to seeing the next update mate, ride safe, Mark
Cheers for the support. The sv shock made a massive difference combined with a set of sonicspring progressive fork springs. I could really throw it about then.
Good to see you can still find a little time in the man cave. Hope the little lady is doing well. Rich
I get out there when i can. Some very early mornings lol. Have to stop that when the grinder comes out though. Little lady is getting bigger. 2 months old today, and already in the joys of teething.
@@BareBonesMotorcycles It does get better, it seems like it goes on forever but it doesn’t. This time next year 😬
Im sure, she'll be out in the shed with me in no time
Wow, didn't know that about keys, good to know that this can be done in case of catastrofic lose of the keys! And you are lefthanded! the best by far... ;) keep going!
All the best people are left handed. Thanks for the support.
In the last video I was thinking that it's somewhat disconcerting how relatively easy it was to get the seat lock barrel off of the bike, now it makes sense since you wouldn't be able to use it to make an ignition key. Actually a pretty clever bit of design in order to let the rider use one key for both locks without too much of a risk of theft, without them having to over engineer the seat lock.
Like i said in the video, ive done it this way on some older hondas, mid 90's cgs and cbs, i guess that they realised how easy it was too, and changed the locking system for added security.
you forgot to mention that under neath at bottom of screw, beneath the nut, there is a cotta pin going threw the screw of bolt which is a complete nightmare to get detached.
I didnt encounter that, guess i was lucky.
@@BareBonesMotorcycles VERY!
Hey brother I got a new ignition and when it’s turned to off position and am able to take the key out that’s when the lights on the dash light up and nothing happens
Some ignitions allow a parking light to be used, could it be that? If not, then id say there is a wiring issue somewhere.
Do you by chance have a video on how to remove the ignition switch and also where can I get a key code
This video shows the removal of an ignition, and the key can be remade from the internals by any decent lock smith 👍👍
@@BareBonesMotorcycles man the future looks scary with this level of comprehension no the Internet 🤣
I took the nuts off the damper cuz I thought u said to and the shock tubes popped out and bike almost fell God dang
Yea dont do that. Just the nuts for the yoke cover. Hope you caught it in time
@@BareBonesMotorcycles It didn't fall but it was up right. I had to use an engine hoist to get pressure off the shocks and put the nuts back on haha
Lucky save
How the fuck did you get it off? I'm hitting it with a hammer and even have the pinch clamps pried open it will not come off.
...I guess it doesn't come off with the steering locked. Welp my easy fix is back to a shitshow.
If the steering lock is on, then it wont come off unless you get the fork tubes out the way. Jack the bike up so the front wheel is off the floor, unclamp the bottom yoke pinch bolts and slide the forks down a bit, once they are out the top yoke, it should come off.
Going back to your other comment, if you undid the bolts on the top yoke, the fork dampers shouldnt have moved, if they did, then your bottom yoke isnt clamped up enough. You should be able to undo the top with no worries.
