Unlike some other versions of Robotnik, this one actually WON. He successfully staged a coup on an entire kingdom, transformed said kingdom into a metallic city, turned many of its inhabitants into mindless robot slaves, etc. All of these accomplishments just goes to show that this guy isn't a force to be reckoned with.

Granted the Eggman now is more comedic, but when he was introduced in the Archie comics, he was ALOT darker and even more ruthless than Robotnik ever was. I could go into the difference between the two, but that would go into spoiler territory.
Every other take on Eggman/Robotnik is an incompetent goofball. This take on Dr. Robotnik was so good at what he did that he'd already conquered the planet by the time the series began.

Basically this Robotnik is great but mostly he yells at Snivley for being incompetent and threatens him to be robotized yet he didn't but he could do so many times.
This version of Robotnik was the most serious version he ever took, there was no comedy with him, just a dark and horrible scientist. If Sonic Team is making Forces a serious game, they should have used this version.

No kidding. I would have definitely bought this game had they used this version of Robotnik and portrayed him right, especially if they brought in Jim Cummings to reprise his role. That alone would be worth the price of buying this game. I'll never understand how anyone could want Eggman over this robotic monster of a villain. Eggman is an ok villain I suppose, but he's small potatoes compared to this Robotnik. Let me put it this way: If Julian was the main villain of Sonic Forces, it would have been game over for the Resistance. There would be no 6 months of waiting for your OC to help them fight back. He would have snuffed out any trace of their rebellion within a week, a month at most, either killing them or making them his robotic slaves. THAT is how terrifying of a villain he truly was. What makes Sonic Forces all the more infuriating of a game, let alone massively disappointing is how they would borrow concepts from Sonic Satam, but did them so half-assed like, it was beyond pathetic. They even plagiarized the double boost concept from the show too. Remember Sonic and Sally using the Power Stones and running super fast together to destroy the Doomsday Device? Well, that's where the double boost originally came from. So yea, why SEGA wanted to make a Satam like game, but wouldn't put in the stuff that would make it work is beyond me. It's like they secretly acknowledged the series had some great stuff in it, but due to their pride and prejudice of the series, they wanted to do it their way instead. Yea, how did that work out for ya? Next time, SEGA, if you're going to do a Satam like game, DO IT RIGHT!

Do you know what Eggman did when Sonic was hiding in the woods on Angle Island? He send out an army of fire breaths and burned the shores of Angle island to the ground and send a carpet bomber after sonic that's what he did. And while Eggman manages to turn entire island if not even small planets into nothing but machinery (Little planet at the start of CD and Mecha Green hill zone) and this on a budged he had to obtain in secret because he didn't have the benefit of having an incompetent monarch around that was fighting a losing war to get rather easily an entire kingdom if not even most of the world given that he won this war with the most basic machinery that makes Egg Pawns look competent by comparison . And the less we saw about being able to exploited the massiv plot convenience that is Charles Robotoziser for him self the better. All he is is more generically evil something Eggman if he is really pissed can also easily be (see the finally of SA1's Tails story for that or his threat to the world in SA2 or his opening in 06) Now this is not mend to shield Forces that was still an afoul plot and Eggman really did start to soften ever since Deam Bristom wasn't voice him anymore.(Properly a coincidence) With 06 properly being the last game that truly had an monster Eggman while his comedy side ever since Unleashed swelled massively.
And to think the man who was voice of Robotnik from Sonic SatAM is the same guy who was the voice of Winnie the Pooh. When I realized that it gave me creeps which were in me for years.

actually, Eggman conquered the world three times. funnily enough one of those times was at the end of Sonic Chronicles Dark Brotherhood, the game that made Ken Penders throw a temper tantrum and made the Archie Sonic Series self-destruct. then in the IDW Series he nearly grey gooed the entire world with a robotic zombie plague because of his mixture of ruthlessness and lack of caution.
For the people who say that SatAM Robotnik accomplished nothing; 1. Most of what was accomplished happened prior to the events of the series. 2. You're missing the point, the PRESENTATION is what fixed him in fans minds as the EVIL Dr. Robotnik. Eggman typically is presented as a goofball who, while threatening, yes, doesn't present as such to the audience.
The irony of this version of Robotnik is that we essentially met the closest game version in 2006. ...plus the awkward moment you realise this theme has a little bit of an elm street vibe to it.
I remember him threatening a character with torture in the show. The exact quote, here, voiced by Jim Cummings at his most venomous: "I have machines of all kinds, you know. Marvelous machines! They can DO things...you would not believe!"
And did things they did. The character he threatened to torture, Kat, is never seen again. The audience is left to wonder whether Robotnik had him roboticized or executed. Pretty dark stuff.

Antoine, Rotor, from the comics and armor them up like the gears and they shoot down swatbots like the locusts. And the Robotnik emblem is their health meter. He's pure evil and he enjoys it. He's an absolute monster... yet somehow I like this version of his character more than all of the others... somehow... He's the perfect incarnation of evil genius and master strategist. He's the perfect Sonic villain imo.

Underground Robotnik NEVER held power and control in the same way as SatAm did. What underground Robotnik wanted and sought to take through others SatAm Robotnik simply had. There is no more telling differences other than SatAm roboticized and enslaved everyone that wasn't in hiding and had literal treasures on display in his personal rooms while Underground had very few roboticized and mostly had to haggle and bargain to get what treasures he wanted, like auctioning off a Nuke which he knew nothing about for gold, which again his SatAm counterpart would just roboticized those with the gold, take it, and save the Nuke for some other scheme knowing full well what it was and what it could do.
If Jimmy will create his Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 similar in behavior and design to Sonic SatAM's Robotnik I believe this will be the greatest Robotnik of all time. Think about it. In Sonic 1 he's still a military engineer similar to Ovi Kintobor. In Sonic 2 he is more similar to Robotnik from AoStH. If in Sonic 3 we will have somehow similar to SatAM's Robotnik this will be a masterpiece.
I loved the metal arm and the revealed backstory that of how he got it. I miss this particular cartoon a lot. Pity -as I've said before - that we never got a game centred around it.

Anyone of yall gonna read the comics and realize that the SatAM version of Robotnik was Mobius Prime Robotnik? ( This is before the retcon in the comics). That and "Eggman" is a Robotnik from an AU that came over to Mobius Prime after having succeeded in his universe in taking out the freedom fighters. Ergo, the one you're whining about dying in the series is still Robotnik, just Robotnik 2.0. I personally feel that "Eggman" is better than the first known Julian, seeing as he destroyed the opposition and seized absolute control, where as Robotnik Prime literally didn't have enough foresight to stop even his cousin ( Snively ) from eradicating him from existence. In short though call him Julian, Robotnik, or Eggman, either way, he's still the greatest villain personality wise, I'm sure we can all agree on that.

Some say this version of Robotnik is the most dangerous and serious. They did not reach Archies comic, Eggman has proven just how messed up he can be, fun fact in the comics Eggman has those same black and red eyes. Even in the IDW comics they showed how much of a monster Eggman can, I wouldn't blame anyone who read the metal virus arc would that think Eggman finally made Robotnik look tame.

Imagine a universe where this Robotnik was used in the games instead of the other “Egghead”. This is the true Egghead.
A Sonic satam Gam was in creation through Sega but was scrapped. A new game would be nice.

If Jimmy will create his Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 similar in behavior and design to Sonic SatAM's Robotnik I believe this will be the greatest Robotnik of all time. Think about it. In Sonic 1 he's still a military engineer similar to Ovi Kintobor. In Sonic 2 he is more similar to Robotnik from AoStH. If in Sonic 3 we will have somehow similar to SatAM's Robotnik this will be a masterpiece.

I loved the metal arm and the revealed backstory that of how he got it. I miss this particular cartoon a lot. Pity -as I've said before - that we never got a game centred around it.

Anyone of yall gonna read the comics and realize that the SatAM version of Robotnik was Mobius Prime Robotnik? ( This is before the retcon in the comics).
That and "Eggman" is a Robotnik from an AU that came over to Mobius Prime after having succeeded in his universe in taking out the freedom fighters.
Ergo, the one you're whining about dying in the series is still Robotnik, just Robotnik 2.0.
I personally feel that "Eggman" is better than the first known Julian, seeing as he destroyed the opposition and seized absolute control, where as Robotnik Prime literally didn't have enough foresight to stop even his cousin ( Snively ) from eradicating him from existence.
In short though call him Julian, Robotnik, or Eggman, either way, he's still the greatest villain personality wise, I'm sure we can all agree on that.
A-fucking-men! Finally someone who realizes that the Eggman now when he was introduced was a HELLOVA lot darker and more menacing than this version of Robotnik in the comics. Granted now he's a more comedic villain, but the shit he did in the comics was way more despicable than what Robotnik ever did to Sonic. Hell Eggman at one point in the comics not only brought back the original Robotnik, but almost killed him once he considered him useless.
I'm actually working on a fan comic that replaces The Chaos council with SatAM Robotnik and Snivley

Some say this version of Robotnik is the most dangerous and serious.
They did not reach Archies comic, Eggman has proven just how messed up he can be, fun fact in the comics Eggman has those same black and red eyes.
Even in the IDW comics they showed how much of a monster Eggman can, I wouldn't blame anyone who read the metal virus arc would that think Eggman finally made Robotnik look tame.
