I accepted Jesus as my personal lord and savior at 12. so i always knew about HIm and his work on the cross and why he died for humans. as i grew up i fell short of God and really turned my back on HIM. though i would pray here and there. I was weak and living in my sins. i even at one point denied being a Christian. I got into new age beliefs instead even though i knew the truth. i was in a very dark place because i had left a 12 year abusive relationship. I was broken and lost and in need of a savior. Once i begin to want to come back to Jesus i started getting attack by demons and then one final night i cryed out to Jesus repented and accepted back as my Lord and Savior and gave me a new heart and the Holy Spirit. I know without a doubt i was sealed at 12 but i had to go through such dark times to find my way back to HIM. looking back i grieved the Holy Spirit. I finally feel at peace with my past and where i am headed in life because i know i am no longer alone or dead in my spirit.

Please don't take this as an interrogating question, just curious. Do you think that you would have gone to Heaven if you were to have died while rejecting God? Or were you sealed as in He will win you back?

@@elijahpales3953 Yes because i was sealed with the Holy Spirit but again i fell short for many years mainly because i spent 12 years in a horrible toxic relationship in which i loved a man more than the man whom saved me and the left me broken lost and confused after it ended and i was traumatized and i just had no motivation in me to ask Jesus back into my life. but for some reason i was praying through spirit to Him. what was wrong is i was into tarot cards for quick answers and because i was dappling in that paganism i felt it was wrong to call myself a Christian because God does not like that stuff and i was letting my flesh lead me in life rather than my spirit even though my spirit was desperate for Jesus and deep in my heart and spirit i knew the truth and my mother had been praying for me to find my way back to Jesus she is the one who raised me to know the truth of Him. I believe if you truly believe in the gospel and the finished work of Jesus on the cross than you are saved and sealed. You belong to Him despite what you might do in your life with living in sin and being bound to them or overcoming them and a changed lifestyle. my life is now filled with joy and praise for Jesus and i am reading Gods word everyday. all i think about is Jesus now.

@kittydawn Our stories are pretty close. I answered the alter call at 10 but for the following years I got worse and worse throughout my teens and finally at 21, I’d had enough, I knew to Whom it was I belonged. When I repented and was re-Baptized there was a profound change in my thinking. As I’ve said before, this change in thinking wasn’t my own intellect, it was a new Presence altogether. The Holy Spirit.
Looking back, I remember doing things in my teens that left me hating myself, even though these things didn’t bother my friends or others a lick. Even when no one knew, the circumstances would remain hidden and no one really thought the actions wrong, I was convicted with self loathing. I remember one day thinking I just need to get away and as I thought of places to go I realized, I wanted to get away from myself.... away from the conviction. Was I actually sealed at 10? I don’t know. I do know that God has always had a hand in my life. There’s simply no other explanation.
I would admonish everyone to read Romans as many times as it takes to understand it. If you are saved, sinning should not provide anything but misery to you. That’s the best touchstone I can think of to be assured of salvation, that and the constant call to repent. Lastly, if you’ve not run across him on YT yet, look up Dr. David Barnett, his ministry is DTBM. He’s an amazing, rock solid BIBLE TEACHER/SCHOLAR. NOTHING BUT GOD’S WORD. Traditions can be stumbling blocks. The only TRUTH in this WORLD comes from God’s Word and Dr. Barnett teaches it unvarnished as it should be taught. God Bless and look up, I don’t know about all of you, but it sure feels like the beginning of the end.

By grace are you saved through faith and not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. Believing that you can help God save you by being good enough is by works or your behavior. Man's righteousness is like filthy rags as God says. He who has Christ has life. Grace through faith in Christ and what He did for us on the cross is what saves us. We were never good enough to be saved in the first place and never will be. God's grace is sufficient because He gives us what we don't deserve, eternal life. If you have accepted Christ as your savior you are saved. If you could loose your salvation by sinning, which we all do, nobody would go to heaven. We all struggle with sin because it is the nature of the flesh to war against the spirit. It is a spiritual war of good against evil, but if your saved you will fight against doing evil. Feed your spirit and you will win most of your battles. God bless

If we can't save ourselves (and we can't) how can we possibly keep ourselves saved? If we were born again, how can we get unborn? If we're sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption, how do we break that seal? Salvation is not a work of us, it's the grace of God. If someone has known the love of God and experienced the touch of Jesus Christ, how can we then go into unbelief? Once you've been given eyes to see, you can't be blind again not knowing what it is to see.
The true born again believer will never deny God, even if it means our death. We'll never leave our Lord and shepherd. We'll never want to either. Anyone who says they used to be a Christian and isn't anymore was never a Christian. They maybe went to church, sang the songs, read the Bible or even served but their faith was not real and it wasn't in Christ. They were never born again. They were religious at best. So they left nothing because they had nothing.
All God's people will overcome and endure till the end. We'll forsake everything in this world if need be but we'll never forsake our great God and Savior. There's no going back to the world (why would we want to?) and the true Christian couldn't be dragged away from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Terence, you must know that feelings of terror, hopelessness, and futility are not of the Lord but of the evil one. Any sins you have committed are in the past now; what you must do is focus on the present. "Php_3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." So long as you live, you have God's grace and a brilliant window of opportunity to return to the Lord for He is rich in mercy and faithful to help you overcome sin. His good news (gospel) is not a reason to despair but to rejoice in His mercy and kindness. To return to the Lord, you must have heartfelt genuine sorrow over your sin(s) towards a Holy God. "Psa_51:17 a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.". That would be your first step in the right direction and a cue that you are earnestly willing to draw near to God. You have done well in starting praying and reading the scriptures for that is how you start knowing God. A believer's walk with God is a journey rife with ups and downs. If we abide in Him whatever life throws our way, we emerge triumphant in Him in the end for He is faithful and will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). One way you can know if the Holy Spirit is working your life is if you find yourself resisting temptations to sin, to which you had earlier so easily succumbed. The more you pray and study the scriptures, the stronger your relationship with God and the stronger the armour God weaves around you is. "Eph_6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." "Jas_4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you". Remember, do not despair but have hope. "Php_4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."

What the vast majority fail to understand is that there are works of the Law or Works of the Flesh which only produce pride and condemnation. The answer is not "It's all done! We do nothing!" The answer is to strive to know His will for us through an abiding and obedient faith. This is the narrow and difficult way. And few there are who find it. It amazes me that some of the same people who say we are saved by grace also say we have to stay in the faith to stay saved. Which one is it because a wise person will see that you can't have it both ways. Here is the truth I stand on: if that person had genuine faith but let's say they never studied, went through tragedies and went to another religion or became an atheist, they ar...well, here's what the word of God says for this dispensation of grace.
      2 Timothy 2:13 KJV
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
      How is this possible?
      Colossians 1:25‭-‬27 KJV
Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Once saved always saved because Christ can't deny himself in us because we are sealed with the holy spirit unto the day of redemption and Jesus is in us, also it was a mystery kept secret until Christ, after his resurrection reaveled the gospel of salvation for today.
      Ephesians 4:20 KJV
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
      Ephesians 1:13 KJV
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
And for anyone who wants to bring up 2 Timothy 2:12 let's discuss that.
      2 Timothy 2:12 KJV
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
This isn't talking about salvation. It's about resigning with Christ in the millennium.

God bless you JP. I was a slave to sin that leads to death for 60 years after baptism. It took a Road to Damascus Road experience for the scales to fall off my eyes. I had the same thought you did ie. I was sick and tired of all the sin in my life. It was shortly after that, someone told me something I had never considered before. That was that I actually needed to stop practicing sin. I'm not Reformed but Calvin taught that the elect would necessarily persevere. I once asked a well informed Reformed Chritian (who, like Calvin, taught Baptismal Regeneration) why I fell away from my faith for some 60 years after baptism. He said that the faith can lie dormant until the soul embraces the grace given at baptism. I personally believe it is more of a matter of obedience based on what I know now. I will say that, God has truly done His part to free me from my practice of deadly sin. Of course, we all commit sins that do not lead to spiritual death most every day. We just need to confess those. If we abide and remain in Christ, the Spirit keeps us from sins that lead to death. Only with God's grace can this be accomplished. Our part is to strive to be obedient by striving to put to death the deeds of the flesh and to avoid the occasions of sins that the world places in our paths. I could suggest many reading sources but I will leave you with one very ancient primary source that is easy to Google. The Didache. This early Christian writing was written before the NT was completed. Scholars believe it was written while one of more of the Apostles were still living. It was considered when the Canon of Scripture was being considered. It covers things like Baptism , the Eucharist and how to deal with Apostles and prophets but I mostly want to draw your attention to the opening section which deals with the two ways. The way that leads to life and the way that leads to death. Read it slowly and let it sink into your heart and mind. If you have not been struck by the conversion experience I mentioned, do not loose heart. The fact that you no longer want to be a slave to sin means you are at a place where God's grace can do the work in your wounded soul that we all need. Seek the truth. Read the primary sources of the first Christians. They are mostly easily accessible online. My favorite are the letters of Ignatius of Antioch (107 AD), a disciple of John, Justin Martyr 155 AD) and Irenaeus of Lyon (180 AD). In my humble opinion, these are some of the best commentaries on the NT you will find :). God bless

JP, I was the same. Sick and tired of all the sin in my life. I found the clearest teaching in the Catholic Church. They were the first that told me I actually had to stop practicing sin. Many denominations don't have a category for sin especially the once saved always saved ones. They only preach salvation as a one-time decision which evolved during the Great Awakening revivals. Many of them defaulted to a confused antinomianism. I will pray for you. God bless.

      @yestothetruth 3 месяца назад

@JPJoaoPaulo619 Make sure you approach God the way He expects you to with the right mindset. Prayers work together with what you need to have a resolve to do yourself.
You must submit to God. That is essential:
      James 4:7-8
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
That's what your attitude needs to be when you are going through the process of *repentance* and committing to be obedient to God for the rest of your life (that's the kind of "change of mind" God wants to see). You must sincerely regret having sinned against God, and come to the point of hearing and agreeing 100% with Jesus' message saying, "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11). Your obedience as you choose to follow God's ways is key--that's how you show your faith to God (John 3:36, Luke 6:46, Hebrews 3:17-18). That opens the door to receiving his *forgiveness* for your past sins (2 Peter 1:9), *healing* (Luke 5:31-32), *freedom from sin/addictions* (John 8:34-36), and the gift of *a new life* that you will live for God and no longer for sin and the passing things of the world (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15). That is the salvation you must make sure you have experienced: freedom from sin (John 8:36, Romans 8:1-2) versus bondage to sin (John 8:34, Romans 7:23).
Approaching God in genuine repentance will lead to you receiving the Holy Spirit to lead you to "walk by the Spirit" (Acts 2:38, Galatians 5:16)--with a pure heart and self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Any habit that controls you reveals idolatry in your heart. You have to choose to be done with that and it will be part of your past. That's one thing that will come out of your commitment to be obedient to God for the rest of your life. Please see 1 Peter 4:1-3 and 1 Thessalonians 1:9.
      James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls [that's repentance]. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith, which implies obedience], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
      Hebrews 5:9
And having been made perfect, He [Jesus] became the author of 👉 *eternal salvation to all those who obey Him [...].*
Please stay in the word and obey it (James 1:21-22). The word of God is fuel for your faith. To live as a follower of Jesus you must go out of your way to put the word of God in your heart and keep it there, rejecting all distractions. It's a fight and that's how you need to stand to not fall down. The truth will set you free from all sin (John 8:31-32, 36).
Remember, change comes from you really desiring it. Jesus puts it this way:
      Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
It's your own hunger and your own thirst for the life that is centered on godliness that will lead you to that new life that is the gift of God in Jesus (Romans 6:4). The square one is genuine repentance.

It's clearly in the context. Hebrews is about the Old Testament sacrifices. If they go back to those goat and bull sacrifices. Christ's sacrifice was once and for all sins to those who believe on Him.
What keeps us believers in the family of God is through the power of God. Human power can't overwhelm the power of God. 2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. We are sealed and kept until the day of redemption. There is nothing we can do to lose salvation once we believe on Christ alone who died for our sins, buried, and rose from the dead. Think about the thief on the cross, the very moment he believed on Christ, he was saved instantly. How did you miss that?
    1 Peter 1
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

The question that needs to be answered first is: What is a covenant? Very simply, a covenant is an agreement that either party can break. The scriptures that appear to "guarantee" our salvation are really only God's promise not to break His side of the covenant with us. Scriptures such as Heb 10:26-31 are God's warning to us not break our side of the covenant with Him. Let me ask another question: Can you go to Heaven if your sins are not forgiven? God warns us again in Matthew 6:15 that our sins will not be forgiven if we refuse to forgive others. How about Gal 5:19-21? We are warned that we will not inherit the Kingdom of God if we live in "the flesh" (adultery, fornication, hatred, etc.). What about Matthew 5:22 where Jesus warns that you are in danger of the "fire of hell" for calling your brother a fool. Is He just bluffing? Having said all that, I believe that God is a loving, forgiving, merciful God who is patient with us and helps us get back up when we fall. I believe that God will forgive anyone who comes to Him with a sincere, repentant heart. But, He says to fear Him (Matthew 10:28)...and for a good (loving) reason...fear of the Lord keeps us from sin (Prov 16:6).

So it is too assuming for you to consider a person goes back to being a sinner losing his salvation. In fact you and me can't maintain faithfulness right? Have you lost your salvation already? of course not.

When Jesus says “depart from me I never knew you”. These people were not saved. They may have gone to the mega churches and delivered food to the hungry, helped widows and the like but it was not because they were saved. Whatever their purpose for doing these things that are typical of the actions of a born again believer it wasn’t at the prompting of the Holy Spirit. More than likely they did the things for their own vanity and pride which I believe Jesus makes clear throughout these passages. In my experience one must test oneself for no one else knows your mind and heart. It’s true we judge others by their actions as to what type of character they have but that doesn’t always work for judging whether or not they’re saved. However, if someone tries to publicly justify their sinful actions in direct opposition to Christ’s word, then I would say they are likely not saved.
In my own experience I cannot and will not pardon my own sin because I agree that IT IS SIN. Gods word is a part of my make up, my mind and my soul. There is something apart from me that makes clear what is right and wrong and I long to do what is right though I fail early and often at it lol. When I do fail it’s tough to come before the Lord and repent sometimes as I’m ashamed of my failure; and yet I do get on my knees, give thanks and praise and repent.
So, my question to those who believe they can lose their salvation is: do you have a relationship with Jesus? When you sin does it bother you? Do you feel the need to repent of the sin because you long to return to fellowship with Jesus? If so it’s a safe bet you’re saved and assured of salvation and Jesus will leave the 99 to come after the one that belongs to Him. If none of the above is familiar to you I would get on your knees and speak to Jesus like He is right there (He is), repent of your sins and ask Him to save you. You need to mean it. Take care all!

However a week later I go hit with a slash to the heart when I read about willful sin and deliberately sinning consequences. And it left me in a depression and doubt with lead to illness and body complications. Sexual dreams and nightmares. Loss of sleep and overthinking. Time after time it got harder and one day I said I don’t know if I can continue with this. I’m tired. I don’t know if I said I’m done but I know a brother called me and talked to me and we prayed and then I prayed to God for help. Went to sleep and woke up to a burning feeling in my chest, stomach, and back of my head. Thought the Holy Spirit left me and became scared. When the Apostle Paul warns the early church in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?Do not be deceived:Neither the sexual immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderes nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
The Apostle Paul sent this warning to the early church, born again christains so dont be so naive and blinded by believing you can live in habitual sin and still go to heaven when the Apostle paul warns crystal clear you will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Example: a born again christain who likes to get drunk therefore he is a drunkard and will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Can you lose your salvation? Yes you certainly can and will lose your salvation if you remain living in habitual sin.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but if you continue to sin you will die ,and that doesn't mean when you die your going to heaven, this is talking about Spiritual death and going to hell, the bible has numerous scriptures about Paul warning the early church ( born again christains) sometimes with tears on how to live to please God and fall for any other gospel which is no gospel at all
The main sign Jesus told us about is deception and to believe that you can live in sin and still get to go to heaven is from the enemy satan, a lie and deception.

I believe someone can't lose their salvation. There's many Christians who believe you can lose your salvation, and there's many Christians who believe you can't lose your salvation. A person's belief about whether or not they can lose their salvation doesn't determine whether they are saved. Accepting Christ in your heart and really meaning it in your heart is what determines whether you're saved.
One of the main reasons why a lot of people think people can lose their salvation is because many people think once saved always saved teaches that once you accept Christ in your heart, you're free to live your life any way you want to and still go to heaven, but once saved always saved doesn't teach that. Accepting Christ in your heart by just mouthing the words and not meaning it in your heart doesn't save someone. In order to be saved, you have to accept Christ in your heart and really mean it in your heart. Once saved always saved teaches that when you accept Christ in your heart and really mean it in your heart, you're always going to be saved, you're never going to live a lifestyle defined by sin anymore, and you're never going to abandon the faith and walk away from the faith. 2 Corinthians 5:17 explains how when people become Christians, they are new creations; old things are passed away and all things become new. When a person accepts Christ in their heart and really means it in their heart, God changes them by them never living a lifestyle defined by sin anymore, having a new heart, never abandoning the faith, wanting to live for the Lord, etc.
There's a lot of Bible verses that are strong evidence how you can't lose your salvation. 1 John 2:19 mentions how there's no such thing as an ex-Christian. If there's no such thing as an ex-Christian, it implies that someone can't lose their salvation. Matthew 24:13 mentions how true Christians preserve to the end. When a person accepts Christ in their heart and really means it in their heart, they're going to preserve to the end. 1 John 5:13 explains how you can know for certain that you have eternal life. If you can know for certain you have eternal life, that's strong evidence how you can't lose your salvation. Revelation 3:5 explains how Christ won't remove true Christians from the Book of Life.

My friend, because of the freedom of will, a believer can choose to decide whether to follow God or not. To put it simple, God didn't force us to believe him before we became believers; and neither will he force us to continue with him if we choose to leave. God will never force anyone into heaven against his will. The parable of the prodigal son will tell you exactly that believers can still go astray from the faith; hence Paul said that "If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: *_if we deny [him], he also will deny us."_* (2 Timothy 2:12). Even the Lord himself has made it so clear that even if you are believer, yet you do not bear the fruit of your faith, you will still be cut off from him (see John 15:1-5; Romans 11:22). So, salvation is a condition. You will have the hope of salvation if you continue to abide with the savior (John 15:6).

@@paeng46 Thanks for your comment. You make great points. I agree with you how God doesn't force people to follow Christ. God gave people a free will. God gave everyone a free will because he wanted people to be able to make their own decisions. God doesn't want people in heaven with him simply due to them being robots; he wants people to be in heaven with him due to them choosing to follow Christ. God didn't just make everyone good because being good without free will is being good due to being a robot, and being good due to being a robot isn't genuine goodness. Genuine goodness is being good due to choosing to be good.
It is true that true Christians display evidence that they are saved. True Christians have the fruit of the spirit in their life, persevere to the end, want to live for the Lord, want to serve the Lord, don't live a lifestyle defined by sin, don't want to take advantage of grace, etc.

@@philipbuckley759 Thanks for your comment. Excellent questions. You are correct that salvation is in three tenses in the Bible. When salvation is in the past tense in the Bible, it's referring to justification, being saved from the penalty of sin, being saved from hell, Jesus dying on the cross to pay the penalty for sin, etc. When salvation is in the present tense in the Bible, it's referring to being saved from the power of sin, sanctification, being changed from someone who used to live a lifestyle defined by sin to someone who doesn't live a lifestyle defined by sin anymore, etc. When salvation is in the future tense in the Bible, it's referring to glorification, being saved from the presence of sin, being rewarded in heaven, etc. Salvation in the past, present, and future tense isn't referring to people losing their salvation.
You are correct that the Bible talks about how people who endure until the end will be saved. Matthew 24:13 talks about people who endure to the end will be saved. I believe that enduring to the end doesn't mean people can lose their salvation because people that are true Christians do endure to the end, persevere to the end, etc. The point of Matthew 24:13 is that true Christians do preserve to the end, endure to the end, etc, and another point of Matthew 24:13 is how to tell whether someone's a true Christian. 2 Corinthians 5:17 explains how people that are true Christians are new creations; old things are passed away and all things become new. There's positive changes that happen in someone's life when they become saved, a Christian, etc. 2 Corinthians 5 talks about changes in someone's life when they become a Christian. When a person accepts Christ in their heart and really means it in their heart, they're going to preserve to the end. Preserving to the end is a positive change that happens in someone's life when they accept Christ in their heart and really mean it in their heart.
A true Christian is someone that accepts Christ in their heart and really means it in their heart. When a person accepts Christ in their heart and really means it in their heart, they experience positive changes in their life such as never living a lifestyle defined by sin anymore (Christians sill sin, still aren't perfect, still make mistakes in life, still make bad decisions in their life at times, etc but they don't live a lifestyle defined by sin), being born again, having the fruit of the spirit in their life, wanting to live for the Lord, wanting to serve the Lord, wanting to persevere to the end, wanting to endure to the end, not wanting to take advantage of grace, and not going to walk away and abandon the faith (true Christians do backslide at times, but true Christians never walk away and abandon the faith).

For those of you who didn’t like Dr. Schreiner’s answer to this problem, good luck finding a better one.
He acknowledges the reality of preservation passages, the reality of warning passages, and the exegetical difficulties with trying to explain away the idea that the warning passages aren’t intended for real Christians (because they are!). The fact is, no real Christian should ever have confidence in their election unto salvation when they are living in sin. Peter says: “Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:10-11). This doesn’t mean that real Christians won’t ever fall into serious sin in their lifetime, but the Holy Spirit’s role is to convict true believers to increase in holiness, while decreasing in sin. As such, and as usual, the Holy Spirit uses means to accomplish this purpose.
God knows who He has elected and who will therefore, persevere to the end-no one else does, including those who are saved. This is why we should never rest solely in a one time profession of faith. Instead, our confidence in Christ’s substitutionary death rests in our life long confession lived out in holy living. Yes: faith alone, in Christ alone, by God’s grace alone. But no to a faith that “is” alone: “faith without works is dead.”

Ahhhh! "Once Saved, Always Saved!" I would agree that OSAS is often presented as a synonym for antinomianism (a heresy). However, the doctrine of election is not the doctrine of OSAS. True Calvinists, such as Dr. Schreiner, never separate election from effectual calling. Here is the WCF Article 10.1
"1. All those whom God hath predestinated unto life, and those only, he is pleased, in his appointed and accepted time, effectually to call,[1] by his Word and Spirit,[2] out of that state of sin and death, in which they are by nature to grace and salvation, by Jesus Christ;[3] enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the things of God,[4] taking away their heart of stone, and giving unto them an heart of flesh;[5] renewing their wills, and, by his almighty power, determining them to that which is good,[6] and effectually drawing them to Jesus Christ:[7] yet so, as they come most freely, being made willing by his grace.[8]" (taken from reformed.org)
God is a God of justice. He is also a God of mercy. His justice and his mercy are perfectly satisfied on the cross. Of course, salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, but salvation is never by a faith that "is" alone:
-"faith without works is dead" (James 2:26).
-"If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old is gone, behold the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
-"seek out your own salvation in fear and trembling for it is God who works within you both to will and work according to His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:12b-13).
Of course, believers bear good fruit. They are the "good soil" those to whom the mysteries of the kingdom have been revealed.
-"And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father” (John 6:65).
It is not the one who hears only. But the one who understands; and that understanding is not simply mental, it is spiritual.
-"The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).
"For what was sown on good soil, this is the word who hears it and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundred fold, in another case sixty, and in another thirty" (Matthew 13:23). The ones who hear and understand are the ones to whom "[[[it has been given]]] to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven..." they are the ones who have (knowledge) and to whom more will be given. Who then is the one who has, and will have more? To whom the mysteries of the kingdom of God has been given.
      Thanks for the reply!

i agree with you Andrew Summers. God is the initiator, He call us first, He drew to us first that's why we draw to Him.I believe our salvation is instantaneous but our sanctification is a process. Its a day to day process. It's is the Holy Spirit who will sanctify you not you. And oh when you encounter Jesus, if you truly encounter Jesus, you will want what He wants. You will do what He wants you to do. The law will be written in your heart and it will just be natural for you to obey it.

“Being Saved” is accepting the Grace of God by faith in the cross and Christ’s victory over sin. The debt owed God by man has been paid and no longer exists. Belief in that puts us at square one with God in Christ. This is the new covenant and it is no longer based on the law....why...
Because repentance means we reject the ways of the flesh and become a “new creation in Christ.” We have put aside the old for the new. We no longer need the law, we have walked through the door directly to God through Jesus Christ.
Since we are in the process of sanctification, we are “yet sinners”. Satan preys upon your guilt for sin and plants seeds of doubt. That is intended to destroy your faith. The difference between the old creation in the flesh and the new is two fold . Our faith, which saves us and our DESIRE to “walk in the ways” of the Lord instead of the sinful desires of the flesh and ourselves.
Your desire to do this is in your heart, mind and soul and cannot be lost, if you meant what you said when you believed. God becomes part of you and you become part of Him because you want to.
Satan is trying to rip you away. Talk to God often during the day and share your doubts, fear, joys and pains. He loves nothing better than to be in constant communication with you.
Think about it. There is nothing unclear about this. Ask yourself where is my heart? You know the answer.

      Remember when Peter failed?
He even denied Jesus! Not once but three times!
      What a terrible sin! As:
Matthew 10:33 (KJV) "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."
But remember what Jesus said, even before Peter denied Him?
Luke 22:32 (KJV) "But I HAVE PRAYED FOR THEE, THAT THY FAITH FAIL NOT: and WHEN thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
      Can Jesus pray and fail?
      Of course Not! Never!
After that event, we can read that the assurance of Peter's salvation is 100% guantere despites he will at one time denies Him 3 times. Because Jesus said he will repent when He said :"WHEN thou art converted" and that "NONE IS LOST" even though at that moment Peter have not denied Him yet:
John 17:12 (KJV) "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and NONE OF THEM IS LOST, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled."
That's how powerfull is our GOD!!!
HE guard us from falling away, He pray that none of His sheep is lost.
Jude 1:24 (KJV) "Now unto HIM THAT IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU FROM FALLING, and TO PRESENT YOU FAULTNESS before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"
That's what it mean to be a SAVIOUR!
It's not that He just forgive our sins, but fail to bring us to heaven.
But He's not just forgive our sins, but He make sure HE PRESENT US FAULTNESS before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"
      WHAT A GOD!!!
Jude 1:25 (KJV) "To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."

There was one word the good Dr. played down in Paul's ship wreak story which was the little word 'if'. Instead he said the warning passages served to save all the men. Yes, they did serve a purpose but some of all of those men could have still disobeyed Paul's warning and then not be saved. Such warnings apply to us but the 'if' is still the linchpin. That is we will be saved 'if' and only if we are obedient to the warning verses that are all directed at the saved. What good is t to say to Jesus 'I believe in You but I won't obey You'.
Scripture is clear that there are 3 periods of salvation that can be lost at anytime if we do not continue in obedience. We have been saved ( Ephesians 2:8-10), then we are being saved as we work out our salvation in fear and trembling and we remain in Christ (ie. avoid sin that leads to spiritual death which are spelled out in Scripture: fornication, adultery, murder, etc and these warnings are directed to Christians and Paul warns them all that, if they live that way, the being believers, will not inherit eternal life) and late we will be saved if we endure till the end. That makes a lot more sense. The truth is God simply has fore knowledge of who will chose life and who will reject life. That is what is meant by we were predestined. That is God gives the grace needed for salvation to everyone but we each have to be obedient to that grace. We have to cooperate with that grace. So, Scripture is both/and and not either/or and it is clear that if we remain in Christ, nothing can separate us from God but, 'if' we don't, salvation can and will be lost. God bless.

@@Tommythecat007 Your first statement is a form of Pelagianism which was condemned by the church at the Council of Carthage in 418. Pelagius taught the primacy of human effort in salvation ie. we could save ourselves through human effort. The church teaches Christ's death on the cross provided the grace we need to cooperate with God's salvation but we must be cooperative with that grace. The church teaches God created us with freewill and, though He wishes for all men to be saved, He will not saves us against our will. In the end, we will reap what we saw.
Your second statement makes me think of Universalism It was taught by Origin but condemned by the church at the Council of Constantinople in 543. I'm not sure if Origin taught that the blood of Christ would provide the salvation of ALL humans and perhaps the fallen angels at the end of time but the idea is similar ie. that all will be saved. I'm told we still have Universalism today maybe in some Unitarian churches.
I know when I was a Protestant, I can see now that I read the Bible as either/or instead of both/and. So, I read verses that seemed to say I could not lose my salvation and ignored any that seemed to say I could. Once I learned that the assurance verses were for those who are 'abiding' in Christ (to me that means not guilty of sins leading to spiritual death eg. adultery, murder, etc. that need to be confessed) , that helped me see the reasonableness of the warning verses that contained words like 'if', 'provided', and 'I warn you'. Hope this helps. God bless.

This will be my final reply. This reply is in response to James McAllister. If someone continues in habitual sin with no effect on their conscience, without regret, without dread or without an overwhelming desire for repentance, they were never saved in the first place.
If you’re truly saved, you have received The Holy Spirit from The Father because of The Son’s (Jesus) sacrifice on the cross. You receive The Holy Spirit to be you’re helper, to convict you of sin, demand repentance and continually sanctify you in your walk with Jesus. Romans 7:14- 8:1-39 explains my point of view. If you are truly saved, you will ever be called to repentance when you do sin and ever be called to eliminate sin in your life. This calling is from the Holy Spirit who dwells within you. To say you can lose your salvation is to deny salvation by Grace. Jesus’ admonishments showed that sin is in all of our lives and none are justified apart from Him. He also says He will send the Helper/ Holy Spirt who enables us to do the Fathers will. This would suggest to me that had Jesus not sent the Holy Spirit, even in believing, we would fail. Once again this also suggests Grace and that it is God doing all of the work so that we will not fail. We are saved by Grace, through faith in Christ Jesus, lest any man should boast. God Bless

My biggest problem with this thought is the example of King Saul in 1 Samuel 10 it says God's Spirit was upon him and he prophesied with the prophets, God clearly chose him and anointed him. Yet he still fell away. And even after God punished for his sin, it still seems that God's desire was still to redeem Saul if you follow David's mercy on him, and his unwillingness to kill a man God had chosen. I do not think they are idol warnings against falling away, but in the same regards, I don't think it is easy to fall away as slipping up either.

    • @yestothetruth

You are thinking well about the example of Saul, but don't be too confident to say "I don't think it is easy to fall away as slipping up either." The thing is if you define slipping up the wrong way, or someone who hears you gets the wrong idea, for instance, committing any sins of the flesh as those mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21, Colossians 3:5-10, Ephesians 5:3-5, even once every several months, that would be a deadly slip up. You cannot think lightly of any deliberate/willful sin. You can see how the warnings are given.
      Peace to you!

I think in studying this, the best conclusion I can draw and the reason for such confusion I can see is this. First we have assurance form God that no one or nothing can TAKE our salvation we see these ideas in Rom. 8:33-39 and John 10:27-29. But Salvation boils down to 2 simple things Rom. 10:9-10. 1 confess with your mouth...., and 2 believe in your heart. And a lot of the debate rest on the 2nd. The believing in your heart. Whether they did believe when they confessed and still do now.
There is but one way, one thing we can do to be saved, and it revolves around the believing and receiving of Christ's sacrifice. With that there is just one way, one thing you can do to loose Salvation at its core, is to stop believing, to freely walk away. Nothing can TAKE it from you including our sin, that is our assurance as believers, but John 15:5-7, Jesus makes it clear it is possible to stop remaining in him. Other Scriptural warning back this up. Essentially no one TAKES your Salvation, you freely GIVE it up, by stop believing.
Might I add that though sin can't take your salvation, it's continual practice clouds and corrupts the heart and mind, and leads you astray, further and further away from Christ. No Christian wakes up and simply says, I don't believe anymore, but they can slowly wonder further away from the truth, and the firmness of their belief and acceptance of Christ's gift, to the point they do no longer believe and then have Given up their Salvation.

That does not mean you have no free will to walk away from God, and lose out on the promise. This makes more sense to me that warning people about something that can not happen.
One of the best examples is John 15. You see people already attached to the vine, who is defined as Jesus, being pruned off and gathered up and burned. I think that shows you have freewill to stay attached or not.

Read when Peter denied Jesus 2 times.
      After warning him, jesus said:
Luke 22:32 (KJV) But I HAVE PRAYED FOR THEE, THAT THY FAITH FAIL NOT: and WHEN thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
Jesus even said in next event when He pray:
John 17:12 (KJV) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and NONE OF THEM IS LOST, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled."
      BEFORE PETER COMMIT HIS SIN!!
      What part did Peter do?
He didn't do something that made him not lost, he did the opposite! He did what Jesus warn him!
So technically he lost at that time
Matthew 10:33 (KJV) "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."
But because of these: "But I HAVE PRAYED FOR THEE, THAT THY FAITH FAIL NOT" and these saying "NONE OF THEM IS LOST" so there would be "WHEN thou art converted" for Peter.
      Because:
Jude 1:24 (KJV) "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"
What kind of a saviour if Jesus forgives sins but failing "to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy?

So the warning passages are explained away so as to keep the preservation passages. This is what happens when people don't understand how to harmonize passages. Is it a contradiction when the Bible says that Judas hung himself and in another place it says he was splattered on the rocks...no. You harmonize the two to get the complete story. All the preservation passages are CONTINGENT upon people remaining faithful until the end. Thus, the warning passages are meant to guard against not remaining faithful. It's like if a guy says to his fiancé "We're going to have a great married life." This is contingent upon the girl no sleeping with some guy during the engagement period. What man says is a promise so long as the girl remains faithful. In like manner, "...He will complete it..." is contingent upon a person remaining faithful to Christ during this "engagement period" prior to Christ's return.
His explanation about the "warning" passages doesn't apply in any area of life. The whole point of a warning is because of the actual possibility that the negative consequences associated with not following the warnings may come to pass. If a person can't actually succumb to what the warning is all about then it is not a warning. If I told someone "Don't invest in that company or else you'll lose $50,000" it's not a warning if the possibility of losing the money doesn't actually exist. If there is no possible way that I could lose the $50K then it's not a warning to be heeded because I'll never lose the money.
The issue with Paul is not an issue because the warning was heeded and thus the promise kept. You can't use that story to justify saying "All warning passages are therefore going to be heeded by everyone it is given to down through church history." The promise is contingent upon heeding the warning. This is exactly what Paul is saying.
In 1 John 23:19 John is NOT saying that what he said is a way to discern everyone who leaves Jesus throughout church history. John is writing about a specific group of people they dealt with.
Most importantly, no one in the Bible ever even states that the warnings are the "Means" by which God keeps people. This is a concept created by men so as to keep so version of "once saved always saved".

God is simple. I think it was overcomplicated. There are other scriptures as well. There are goats who have never been known by Jesus, though, they are big believers and miracle makers. Who is lookwarm, also will be spit out of His mouth. Who is not like a child, has not even gotten a chance to get in. Overcomplicated Bible explanations make people like clever adults, not like a child. The letter kills, and the Spirit gives only life.

I like the example with the fiancé..Spot on. I was replying recently to an adherent to OSAS and said: If a doctor gives you a pill for your bad heart and says: "you will live if you take this" it does not mean you will live if you take it and then jump off the Empire State Building. When a Christian returns to habitual sin he no longer believes the Gospel that saved him. The testimony God gives of His son is that He did indeed free you from sin but the professing Christian, in returning to a sinful lifestyle, is saying they can have God (eternally) ANDNOT BE FREE OF SIN. Right there he has made God a liar and therefore the word of eternal life is no longer in him (because God cannot lie) 1 John 1:10 and 1 John 5:10).
1st John was written to dispel the OSAS myth creeping in in Johns' time. The gnostic teaching of dualism, from Plato and hellenism, said: "body, bad and the spirit, good". The immature Christian saw how that related to them having a body from Adam, capable of sin, and a born again spirit, from Jesus, that is righteous. They then said: "Well, if body is bad it does not matter what we do in it (sin wise) because righteousness is in our spirit and that is the part of us that is saved and heaven bound". That is exactly what OSAS says. OSAS says you will be saved no matter what you do in the body because righteousness is in your spirit and that can't sin. OSAS is gnostic.

Dandara, You are not fallen away. We must use context when reading any passage and understand to whom the writer is speaking to and what was going on during that time. I feel strongly that because of the audience (the Hebrews) and the pressure to “go back” to Judaism, that the author of Hebrews meant that was the meaning for “fallen away”. Ask for yourself some questions, are you relying on ‘your’ works to get you into Heaven? Because that is basically what Judaism, and many Christian denominations for that matter, operate in….observing Jewish feasts, adhering to food laws, “trying” to be good, all this in order to ‘be right’ with God and maintain/obtain everlasting life (salvation). Once you believe Dandara, believe who Jesus is, what He did and why (the Gospel), You are saved! He does not take back the eternal life that he gave you. You are saved BY Grace THROUGH faith, Amen! Now, stop living in terror/fear and serve the Lord, abide in Him daily and TRUST in His finished work on the cross. God Bless you.

You will know that you are not fallen away from the grace of God if you continue to live by obeying and doing the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ; otherwise you will be tossed out.
Yes, you can lose your salvation my friend. We only have the *Hope of salvation* (1 Thessalonians 5:8); not the fullness of our salvation. We are not completely saved yet, not until the day of the redemption of the purchased possession comes (Eph. 1:14), which is the resurrection. In between time, while we are in this present time, our salvation is *CONDITIONAL* depending on how we live our lives according to the gospel (Romans 2:16; 16:25 & 2 Corinthians 15:2). The Lord is very clear in saying that it is *ONLY* if we *CONTINUE* to abide in him and *CONTINUE* to bear fruits as believers that we can not be cut off from him (see John 15:2, 6). Salvation is conditional in the present time. Paul said that if we continue in the faith then God will also continue to be good to us. He said "Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, *goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off."* (Romans 11:22). Salvation is conditional because we are not yet completely saved. We are only completely justified by faith (Eph. 2:8-9); and justification is not salvation in the context of its entirety.

All you have to do is accept it and it will set you free. You will have the assurance and peace that you are saved. Praise the lord and go please him however you can. If you stumble, don't be discouraged, you're still his child and are saved. Get up again, dust yourself off, and continue living in the light. Living in the light means you are aware of the sins now. You will always be his child, but it's important to grow in your love for him by not letting yourself go hungry spiritually so you don't feel what you are feeling. You eat everyday to feed your body, get a bite of his word everyday too, even if you don't understand it initially. Have peace and assurance in his promise for your salvation.

You can lose your salvation. The parable of the Prodigal Son is a perfect example... As soon as the son was give his share and left, he lost his sonship and all previledges of being a son. But His father still loved him. In essense, men are the ones who walk away from God and through sinning they loose their salvation and place before God. But God still loves man even though he sins. As soon as the prodigal son repented in his heart he went back to his father and they were re-united. Since God's love is constant, all He awaits is for men to realise their sinful ways and repent and abandon completely their sinful lifestyles and with Open arms God will recieve them back.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

When the crowd asked who then can be saved? After hearing the highest standard, with which Jesus describes keeping the law, highlighting that you can Sin even in your thoughts, before the actual deed!
The crowd rightly panicked! Jesus described an impossible standard!
Jesus then states quite clearly “with man, this is impossible, but with God anything is possible.”
With man it is impossible !
It’s only God that can open the eyes of a man, and enable him to respond, even enables you to repent! (Acts 11:17-18, Acts 5:30-31, 2 Tim 2:24-25)
We are dead in our sins, therefore unable to respond to the call of God.
      No one seeks God.
      No one does good.
      That’s our state. Our nature.
R.C. Sproul describes, “God just doesn’t throw a life preserver to a drowning person. He goes to the bottom of the sea, and pulls a corpse from the bottom of the sea, takes him up on the bank, breathes into him the breath of life and makes him alive.” I believe that our salvation is of the Lord from start to finish, from election to glorification. If it were up to us, we would have never been saved.”
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Jesus has entered in as our high priest.
He is able to KEEP his sheep.
I think the sticking point is are you really saved. ..? Which is certainly a key point as this is something Jesus addresses personally and tells us he will separate the false converts and the true at the Judgement.

If the warning passages are (one of) the means by which all true believers persevere to the end, wouldn't that mean that true believers actually have to acknowledge that the warning passages speak truthfully - that is, acknowledge that true believers can finally fall any? As someone who used to be Reformed in my view of salvation, I can say that I did not believe the warning passages spoke of true believers falling away. In other words, I did not feel the "weight" of the warnings, because I knew in my heart that I could never really lose my secure place of salvation. If you’re truly repentant, scripture says God is faithful to forgive. But repentance isn’t very convincing when the sin keeps getting repeated, it likely means you’re more in love with the sin than you are with God. That’s really for God to decide for each of us, but scripture is quite clear that those that love him will obey his commandments and those that don’t love him won’t obey his commandments. It also says we know who belongs to Christ and who belongs to the devil exclusively by who keeps the commandments and who doesn’t. We don’t even receive the Holy Spirit until we’ve established continual obedience. If you’re repeating sin, you need to figure out how to hate that sin so much that you despise that it would even cross your mind for a fleeting second. That’s being a man after God’s own heart, literally hating what he hates for the same reason he hates it, and loving what he loves for the same reason that he loves it. Endure to the end my friend. You can do it. According to scripture, God never allows us to encounter a temptation that he doesn’t provide a way of escape from. Those that love him seek that escape and find it, those that love sin instead commit the sin. Run to God and never look back at those past sins, never be the dog that returns to its vomit.

God drew you and you came. we read and study the Word to grow in faith and knowledge. How can you trust someone you don't know? Once you are born again you are forgiven of past sins, but just as any true relationship, we must maintain it. God is Holy and sin separates us from God. We should never be living in habitual sin because Jesus set us free from the bondage of sin and death. Like Peter who only needed His feet washed I John 1:9 is our spiritual foot washing "if we confess our sins, He forgives us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness." This was written to believers! Please understand that the more we study and pray and get to know God, HE changes us. HE convicts us. He gives us His Word and His Spirit, but we must remain IN Him until the end. The yoke is easy because you realize you cannot save yourself and the burden is light because you are not walking in this world alone. But remember sin is still present on this earth. The lust of the flesh is still a struggle and the devil is still seeking whom he may devour (he leads sheep astray with deception and condemnation). 48 years in the instutional churches. Finally read the Word for myself and learned about the Reformation and counter-reformation. There are people trying to mislead you. Yes we are sinners and nothing at all, but Jesus Christ is our all in all. He is the WAY of salvation. This is why we follow Him and endure until the end. We do works because of love and gratitude of his shed blood on the cross to pay the penalty for sin and provide the way of forgiveness. The world (its ungodly system Satan's kingdom), the flesh (our unregenerate nature) and the devil (our spiritual enemy) these can be defeated through Jesus Christ as we walk. See Pilgrim's Progress for a great allegory. Hope this helps clarify things. Freedom IS in Christ Jesus so remain in the faith and endure in this faith until the end. i john 1:9 Kenny we begin with a measure of faith and as we study the Word of God and pray, we grow in our trust and understanding of God and His ways. He knows our hearts. Salvation is by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is a walk (continuous) it is a race: rewarded at the finish line (salvation of our souls). He saved us by giving us new life and drawing us to Himself. We believe and are converted as we repent (turn from sin and the way of destruction) and turn to Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, the Life. We will mess up, but if we come to God, through Jesus Christ, He not only forgives us, but cleanses us from all untighteousness. It is like Peter getting a foot washing from Jesus. He was clean except for his feet because he walked in the world. I hope this helps as i see this was 2 years ago.

@hopeseeker97 , “we will mess up”... that’s not good. There’s not really any room for mess ups. You are correct that God is faithful to forgive when we repent, but keyword is “repent”, meaning we forsake sin and practice righteousness. There are people that sin daily and think they are repenting at the end of each day, but that’s not repentance.
1 John 3:8 “ *Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil* “

I think 1 Corinthians offers a great opportunity to debate... All the Jews in the wilderness were "saved", but when they refused to obey and wished to turn back they were "killed."
Starting in 1 Corinthians Chapter 9 Paul talks about the "freedom" we have in Christ. He concludes that chapter with admonition to self-discipline "I strike a blow to my body and make it a slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize." You might argue that the "prize" is just "rewards in heaven."
But Paul opens Chapter 10 to warn us from Israel's history:
"...our ancestors were all under the same cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea... they all drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was CHRIST. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with MOST of them; their BODIES were scattered in the wilderness. Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did... So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't FALL!"
Apostasy is real. Rejection of the faith is real. "Once saved always saved" isn't a concept from the Bible as far as I can read. If the "Chosen People" weren't "safe" out in the desert from apostasy then neither are we who may have once claimed allegiance to Christ but have "faith but not works" that James speaks of. As much as it is up to Christ, we are saved. As much as it is up to us we have the ability to "stand firm" in the faith... or to walk away or simply fall away through lack of a faith to keep us "in Christ."

@jlbush8249 You said, "We all "fall away" from time-to-time."
That shows you have a misunderstanding of what falling away means. "All will sin" is also an incorrect assumption. What do you do with scriptures like this:
      1 John 3:6
Whoever abides in Him [Jesus] *does not sin.* Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
      Romans 6:14
For *sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under the law, but under grace.*
If you are tempted to present another scripture, then any such scripture will not eliminate the clear sense of these. Many use scriptures that way.
But you are correct in saying "I believe it takes a purposeful and conscious effort of rebuking and denying him to lose one's salvation." And the result of that is stopping to abide in Jesus and falling away.
Examine your understanding of abiding in Jesus. I hope that will bring some light on this issue for you:
      1 John 2:6
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
      John 15:4-6, 9-10
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
      1 John 3:24
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
These things in 1 John are not just true for everyone. They are true for those who have been born again, who have experienced the "washing and regeneration by the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5), who have thus become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15), and are abiding in Him (1 John 3:6).
Falling away from Christ is not something that can keep on happening if someone has understood what walking with Christ is about and that person was in agreement with that. Then the person may have one opportunity to make things right again with God (see Revelation 2:2-5 to see how Jesus addressed believers who had left the right way of abiding in Him). There is no guarantee that there will be unlimited opportunities to return to a relationship with Jesus after having fallen away from Him.

The grace of God is not a license to sin, nor is it a freedom away from God’s punishment. Grace is God's providence of his will that is freely given to men to allow and enable them to live by the gospel (Titus 2:11-12). Believers are told in the gospel not to continue to live in sin so that they will not fall away from grace- “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Dear brothers and sisters and friends,
Do consider David Pawson’s interpretation on this subject.
David Pawson was a man who feared God enough that he could not accept the idea “Once saved always saved”. He sincerely warned about this idea, I am thankful that he did as it restored my fear of God.
“Once saved always saved” is dangerous and ignorant of Jesus’ solemn warnings about losing our salvation. These warnings are throughout the New Testaments, many begin in the gospel of Matthew. In David’s book “Once Saved Always Saved?”, he pointed out in the NT alone, there is 80 passages that warn about losing salvation.
He explained that the word “saved” is used in three different tenses in the NT: past, present and future. Which indicates that salvation is a process not yet complete.
I sure believe that salvation is God’s grace and cannot be earned, but not that it cannot be lost before it is complete, as Jesus warned.
We need to be fearful also for the things we must do but do not do because we are afraid or find excuses to not do them, especially our calling. (Matthew 25:24-30)
Finally, let’s make every effort to be holy, for without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12)

@@LVGirl4 Hi, thank you for your comment. I encourage you to listen to David Pawson’s sermons on OSAS, and then go back to the Bible and read again for yourself, as he always told his listeners to not believe what he said without going back to the Bible.
To summarize a few things David stressed in his sermons:
      1. Salvation is a process. The word “saved” occurs in the Bible in past, present and future tense, And future tense is most emphasized. We are not saved yet until we get to heaven, we only Begin our salvation when we accept Christ.
      2. Christians can backslide, and it can come to a point of no return. NT is full of passages that warn us to continue in faith, abide in Christ, endure to the end, or our names will be rubbed out from the book of life, we’ll be cut off and thrown into the fire and burned.
      3. Assurance of salvation comes when we walk in the Spirit. We lose our assurance when we walk not in the Spirit.
There are many more he mentioned, he gave a clear representation of his careful analysis on this issue.
I believe if we read Jesus’ commandments with a good conscience, we would be terrified, because many of them have a warning at the end. In light of that, I cannot believe in an ‘eternal security’ like OSAS, which considers Jesus’ warnings less serious than they actually are.

So if you can lose your salvation, you are saying in a sense that Jesus sacrifice on the cross was not enough to cover all of your sins? And if not when John says I say these things so you will KNOW you have enteral life, it was not true. Because a sin has managed to change something eternal into something not. The implications of what I see some saying is that there is a point when you sin that can tip you over into the non saved category. Well how much sin is that? And what about the scripture that say if we sin and repent God is faithful to forgive?
We gain salvation by faith but then lost it because of a sin? So I sin today I am out of salvation, then I repent and I am back in. So we can't really know if we are saved.

I invite you to think of your relationship with Jesus as a marriage and what you meant when you said "I do" (want to follow you / live for you).
To be clear, deliberate sinning has no place in the life of someone who got saved. That's what sinners get saved from (that's the life they were trapped in before getting saved). You may want to be soft on sin, but God is not and the sooner you find that out the better.
Please read Galatians 5:19-21 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and understand these sins come from rebellion, that's why they are willful sins and will stop someone from inheriting the kingdom of God if they do not repent of them. And repentance does not mean you keep on confessing a sin, like saying to God, "oops, I have sinned again." No, God knows if you are serious about turning away from sin once and for all or if you are double-minded like you should not be (James 4:8).
Why don't you believe 1 John 3:6 and seriously seek to understand what it means to abide in Jesus and stop sinning? That's not the only verse that will show you God wants you to stop sinning. What effort will you put into finding what the Bible says on this matter? If you don't hate sin like God hates sin (Jesus died because of our sins), then you won't want to find out, being happy to believe the lie that the wages of sin is 'not' death, or that a life of sinning isn't what you were supposed to get saved from in the first place.

@@jeffszmiett2600 Unfortunately, you are believing many false things that will stop you from living a life pleasing to God and thinking it's some "human" thing. Let's start with Romans 7:14-25 that does not describe a "born again" believer to begin with. Yet, you believe it's about "the Christians struggle". You are in a dead end believing that and truth is the way out.
Please see that Romans 7:14-25 is describing a man in his struggles under the Law (of Moses) and not a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). In other words, it's not Paul the apostle, who then certainly had been born again, and was "under grace" who was struggling in Romans 7 to not do wrong when he wanted to do right.
That is a contradiction to having power over sin as is the case for someone who has been saved by grace:
      Romans 6:14
For *sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under the law, but under grace.*
And see that in Romans 7 he is speaking about seeking who would deliver him, and he found his deliverance in Christ and this was the result (the point of being "saved" actually):
      Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, *who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.* 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me *free from the law of sin and death.*
Romans 8:2 is the exact opposite of the situation in Romans 7:23 where he spoke about being in captivity to the law of sin working in his members.
I will put this before you again for you to deal with your unbelief about what it says: Ultimately, all believers need to be embracing and experiencing this:
      1 John 3:6
Whoever abides in Him [Jesus] *does not sin.* Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

When someone is truly saved they can't lose their Salvation. The natural response from the recipient is to do good works. Sanctification and fruit producing will happen in their life, Repentance and faith in Jesus. We are saved by His grace through Jesus Christ. They will endure in their faith until the end. If someone backslides like we all do, the truly saved end up always coming back and enduring. If someone falls away forever they were never truly saved.
We receive a new heart, reborn, when truly saved. That new heart desires his righteousness. The natural response to a truly saved person is good works. Good works isn't what saves you. Its the response of receiving Salvation. We love Him therefore we obey Him. None of us could live up to the his moral law. We broke God's law. Jesus paid the fine.

The same is not true of the sanctification process. However I agree that God will judge our hearts in regard to this matter.

Too true that a born again believer is kept/preserved by Jesus Christ. What is overlooked is that the Lord takes us from being any longer under the law (Rom 5:15, 6:14 7:4,8, moral law written in our hearts) so that no longer are we found sinners. Which thing was also the rule in the OT, as David wrote in Rom 4:8, God no imputing any sin/fault vs us any more (2 Cor 5:19), not even remembering our sins any longer (Heb 8:12 10:17). The reason also given for taking us from under the law is in Heb 6, for if He had not He would have to die a second time or more, which thing He could not do, for as a man like us He could only die ONE time, as written in Hebrews 9:26-28. Moving us from under the law means we do not sin any longer, even if as sons being conformed to His image we stumble (not fall!) and have faults/errors (He 9:7 Gal 6:1 Jude 1:24 1Cor 6:7 1 Pet 2:20). Christians are no longer sinners, but have faults and commit errors till the day they attain to ‘sinless perfection’ (Phil 3:12) on the other side, in heaven. Salvation as a gift of GOD by Christ cannot be lost, you are right!

@Jose Fernandez-Leon , no where in the Bible does it say we no longer have to obey God’s commandments, in fact quite the opposite.
The only law that we are free from is the man made oral law of the Pharisees, which is referred to as tradition of the elders. Scripture is quite clear only those who are obedient to God’s commandments belong to Christ.

We live or walk by the power of the Indwelling Spirit of Christ in us, as we yield-submit-surrender to Him, our compass, not the Moral law which is for the conviction of one yet in unbelief 2 Tim 1. There has to be a turning point from "blowing it", otherwise, it will be a total loss for the son to remain in the pig pen of sin, even though the father was waiting and watching for his return.
So, the real simple question based on the prodigal son's parable is to ask, "If the son does not repent and return to his father (not to go back away into sin again), will he receive his inheritance?
1 Corinthians 6:9 warns believers that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.

@@yestothetruth the point of the parable not only magnifies the Father’s love and gladness for the son’s return, it clearly shows the Father is always thinking well of the son even though he is lost. The father does not go get the son. The son has to decide that for himself. It is the same for us all. We choose life or thrust it from us. We decide our own fate. God cannot deny His laws of life. If we choose to turn our backs on Him, it will be a heartbreak for Him. There’s nothing He can do for us. But if we return to Him, He throws a party and makes us the guest of honor.
There are those who are sons of the wicked one that are destined for wrath. These are men of great darkness. But for the sons of God, even though they screw some things up, they are still His kids and He will never forsake them.

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth Год назад

@@gladtidings6020 They are still his kids and He will never forsake them does not mean He will go and get them out of their rebellious ways. And you said rightly that the father doesn't go get the son; he has to decide for himself to return.
This video's message is based on the Once Saved Always Saved lie. And OSAS teachers are happy to skip the requirement of repentance in a case of having gone away from the Father. It's not just a matter of the Father waiting. Screwing up can have the consequence of death/not inheriting the kingdom of God if repentance doesn't follow.
In your conclusion you do not mention repentance and seem to suggest that the child of God is secure after his screw up because the Father won't forsake him. But if he is the one who has forsaken his father, that doesn't mean he must have been a son of the wicked one. No, he got himself in a 2 Peter 2:20 situation and would better hope to find God's mercy. That kind of "screw up" is serious. There is no such thing as assurance of salvation because the Father won't forsake. That's not the message of Jesus to people who have screwed up (see Revelation 2 and 3, 5 cases, 5 calls to repentance).
I'll be clear. By screwing up, I mean knowing right from wrong and choosing to do wrong (sin). That is not a "no big deal" kind of situation for a child of God, regardless of the Father's anticipation of his son/daughter's return.

I don't find this explanation compelling. To be sure, there is a tension here in Scripture which I have in no way resolved-and to be clear, I do NOT believe that one can lose their salvation. Nonetheless, the passages in question do not strike me as "empty threats" (Romans 11 comes to mind). Using this line of thought, we could eventually reason that all threats, or all conditional statements in the Bible are simply rhetorical. God is the Author of order, not chaos; so there must be a way to harmonize these seemingly contradictory passages regarding the eternal security of the elect. But I'm not convinced that these very bold and clear statements indicating the real possibility of apostasy can be dismissed simply by qualifying them as "empty threats", the spiritual equivalent of elf on a shelf. If we can resolve difficult passages simply by saying, "they don't actually mean what they say", what's to keep us from doing the same thing with other parts of Scripture? Isn't that essentially the same hermenuetical acrobatic that those who argue that the Bible does not actually condemn homosexuality have employed for many years?

In the n.t. it's probably the same but we know about Gehenna/lake of fire and I believe it works as a deterrent.
If we sin as Christians we should ask for forgiveness I'm not sure if we'll end up in Gehenna if we die without asking the Father to forgive us yet, no one can take us out of the hands of the holy Trinity (John 10:27-29).
Maybe we can't take ourselves out of the hands of the holy Trinity but, I believe we should obey everything found in the 27 books of the new testament and learn from the 39 books of the old testament.
Get a KJV it's the best bible in English. The majority text is the real new testament manuscript and I believe we should study all the old testament manuscripts because I read online that the quotes found in the new testament agree in differing manuscripts. For example there might be a quote the agrees with the Septuagint but not the Masoretic text and vice versa.

The same God who ordains the end also ordains the means to that end. Although God's elect are chosen in Christ from the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4), God saves us within time by our faith in Christ through the preaching of the Gospel (1 Cor. 1:21, Romans 10:14-17) and commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30) and to seek the Lord while He may be found (Isa. 55:6). God's sovereignty and our responsibility are not at odds, but work together, both as regards our conversion and our perseverance. The promises and warnings in Scripture are means God uses for our perseverance just as the preaching of the Gospel is the usual means He uses to call us to repentance and to awaken saving faith in Christ. Jesus promised that His sheep would hear His voice and follow Him (John 10:27), while to those who rejected Him He said, "He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God" (John 8:47). The warnings are spoken to everyone, but they only benefit those who receive them with humility and faith.
God also uses these warnings to awaken those who are resting in a false assurance and to warn them of the danger of presumption. Christ knows His sheep, but we don't always. Sadly, there are many who believe themselves to be saved, but will hear Christ say at the judgment, "I never knew you: depart from me, you who work iniquity" (Matt. 7:23). God's Word is a sharp two-edged sword that cuts clean between what is true and what is false or spurious so that those who profess faith in Christ may be able to examine and prove themselves, whether they are in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5).
God does not save or preserve us in a mechanistic way, as though we are inanimate objects. Rather, He works in us to will and to do what pleases Him -- and that work within us (which He alone can do) is the basis for His command to us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12-13). The promises and warnings in Scripture are the means He uses to that end.
The Lord wants His people to have an "abundant entrance" (2 Peter 1:11) into His kingdom -- not merely to be saved "yet so as through fire"(1 Cor. 3:15) -- and to that end He gives us means to make our calling and election sure and to keep from stumbling (see 2 Peter 1:2-12). If we will read the Bible as a letter of love sent to the family for whom Christ laid down His life (rather than as a textbook of legal principles to be analyzed), then we will profit from ALL He has to say to us, and His warnings will serve us as well as His promises.

This idea was created by John Calvin in the 1500's. But whats interesting is that the majority of Protestants would disagree with this statement. I would suggests watching the Trent Horne vs James White on this issue. Dr. James White is a Reformed Theologian, while Trent Horne is a Catholic theologian. Even though Trent is Catholic the issue is not one of "Catholic vs. Protestant" but more so a theology debate. I have a few problems with this. The biggest one being it is not scriptural. I've yet to find any indication in scripture that our Heavenly Father threatens His children with empty promises to keep us in check. The words "Lord, Lord" are in the Bible only 5x and in those passages believers are unable to enter the Kingdom of Heaven because of their iniquity (lawlessness). In one example they cast out devils and prophesied in His name and the Lord responded "I never knew you, depart from me worker of iniquity". If they were never "really saved" they would not have been able to cast out devils as a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand (Matthew 12:25). Also it did not work out so well for the folks in Acts 19:15-16. Ezekiel 18:24 outlines how your righteousness can be forgotten just as your sin can. These guys had it and lost it.
Additionally, 2 Thessalonians 2:3 is clear there will be a falling away. How can you fall away from something you were not ever in? Matthew 24:12-13 states "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. BUT he who endures to the end shall be saved." That being said I haven't even touched on the requirement to be led by the Spirit or bear fruit. Haven't even touched on Revelation 3:5 blotting of names from the Book of Life.
This is not about works to obtain righteousness or legalism at all. We have all fallen short - period. This is about staying in a relationship with the Lord and being led by His Spirit until the end. There is a clear cut distinction in scripture between those that fall into iniquity/lawlessness and those that endure/overcome. Be Blessed and stay the course!

That obedience to God is a work or a deed or "something done" in faith. And when faith is with works of faith, it is not "dead" faith (James 2:26).

@catholictruth102 your understanding of what or who John referred to as an anti-christ, and your doctrine has blinded you to the point John was conveying. The Greek word ἀντίχριστος defined as antichristos, basically means an opponent of the Messiah. Anyone opposed to the gospel of Christ is an antichrist. John is to the point, they went out from us, but they were not of us, in other words they were not believers. Luke describes Peter before the High Priest and Council in Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Act 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Act 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Act 5:33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
      Act 5:34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
Act 5:35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
Act 5:36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
Act 5:37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
Act 5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
Act 5:39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
Act 9:4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
Act 9:5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,
Act 26:14 “And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew dialect, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’
Act 26:15 “And I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
In chapters 9 and 26 of Acts, Luke records Paul's conversion testimony, Jesus questions Paul why are you persecuting Me? Paul was opposing Christ, he was fighting against Jesus, exactly what Gamaliel referred too. The Pharisees opposed Jesus during His whole earthly ministry, and He referred to them by a worse term than anti-christs, that being white washed tombs, or in other words dead men walking.
Scripture must be taken as a whole, for the Bible will interpret itself.

I'v heard a lot of scripture twisted over the years to fit someones belief, but this one takes the cake. I don't know for certain the correct interpretation of those verses, but I know it doesn't mean what he says they mean. If Hebrews was written to Jewish believers, among whom were some who believed they had to keep the Mosaic law and be circumcised in order to be saved, it is understandable that Paul would warn them from falling away, and being lost by trusting in something besides Jesus. If they did that, they would forfeit the only means of salvation, namely, Christ's sacrifice on the cross.
We are saved by faith in Jesus, but if we believe we are saved by faith in Jesus plus faith in something else such as works, circumcision, or anything else, are we still saved? I think Paul would say no.

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth Год назад

When you say "faith in something else such as works", you should be precise that the works you speak of are works of the Law of Moses, such as circumcision and animal sacrifices offered at various times. This argument cannot throw out the fact that faith without works (of faith) is dead (James 2:26). So, genuine faith is never without works. The Matthew 25:31-46 parable is clear about the things done by faith and that matter, and the things people failed to do. "Doing" has to do with works, either good works or bad/wicked works. But it's not a question of trusting in your works. They are not "something else" if they are what having faith makes you do. They must be glued to your faith if you have faith. So, Jesus also says, "I know your works..." (Revelation 2:2). That's talking about works that go along with one's faith.

@Janaina Ribeiro, I agree, a born-again believer who truly loves the Lord Jesus will strive to live a righteous and holy life by conforming to the image of Christ--as we grow in grace and knowledge of Him (2 Pet. 3:18). There will be times when believers will miss the mark and sin because believers are yet in these mortal bodies. When that happens, we repent (1 John 1:9). The body isn't saved, but it will be in the future when the believers' bodies are transformed when Jesus comes for His Church ((1 Cor. 15:51--54). Until then, the body must be brought into subjection and forced to live according to the will of God. Keep in mind, only the SPIRIT of the believer is regenerated/reborn (see John 3). For that reason, the MIND must be renewed daily to think and concentrate on what is pleasing and acceptable to God (Rom. 12:1). As for the BODY--the flesh--it is not saved either; it must be forced into subject to obey the newly regenerated spirit and renewed mind as it is being lead by the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind, we are tripartite/trichotomy beings (spirit, mind, body).

Repentance for salvation means to change your mind and trust Jesus as the only way of salvation apart from works. Our works can not save sinners. Only Jesus paid our sin debt in full,. past, present, and future sins. Romans 4:six-8. He is not going to come back and do it again. First John 2:2. And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. But, only those who believe it are saved, sealed by the Holy Spirit and can never be condemned again. John 3:18

@WebDev , it says seal, not padlock. You’re apparently not aware that royal seals were typically made of wax, and were never intended to prevent anything from being opened but rather to indicate whether the contents could be trusted. You have a fine “sounding” argument, but it’s a myth. Is it God who can trust you to obey His commandments, or can Satan trust you to break God’s commandments? Who’s seal are you under?

@Rob Pal What your saying is the false, the verse he is referring to talks about us not being blotted out of the book of life if we overcome the world. 1John 5:5 says that the people who overcome are those who have believed that Jesus is the son God. On top of that, how are we puppets when all we are doing is accepting a gifted already earned by Jesus Christ? We don't have to live in any certain way to be saved because christ lived perfectly for us. We should try our best to live like christ or we face chastisement but we know no matter how we live we are still saved once you have believed. The problem with many Christians is that they act like it is there faith is what earned their salvation. All our faith did was accept a never-ending gift that was already earned for ur by christ.

JD, it is NOT saying you can be blotted out, it is saying you CANNOT BE BLOTTED OUT! Why? Who is a overcomer?
The verse JD, Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
LOOK close here, Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

But then wouldn’t that take away the effectiveness of the warning if it’s known that it’s just to make u be carful ? Also the text doesn’t seem to imply that it’s just a warning it seems like it’s advising or it’s telling you with so much aggressiveness ( I use that term very broadly btw ) that you can lose your salvation... I feel like it wouldn’t really give depth and meaning if it were just a way to keep the Saints going in Christ... I don’t know if you get my wording when I’m trying to describe this.
What I basically mean is it doesn’t seem to mean that it’s just for “lighting a fire under your butt “ if you will ... it seems to mean that if you do this you will perish or you will be in the lake of fire , or, left behind , or burned . Can anyone help me out with this????

We have eternal security in Christ. He is our life. We are kept by the power of God through faith.
If we abide in Him, we are secure. If we depart, we lose all security. Every blessing we have is in Christ.
Rom 11: 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
Heb 3: 6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
7 ¶ Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 ¶ Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
      14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
It’s actually all over the bible.
      God bless

Keith Krasky exactly. He is effectively saying God is a liar, he is just puuting judgement there to keep us in line but does mean to do it. Don't be deceived. The Bible says: "the soul that sinneth, he shall die" "God is of purer eyes that to behold iniquity". Run from this false teaching and run to Jesus, he along can give you the daily grace to live a righteous life in Him until the end.

David was saved because he repented of his sins (read Psalm 51:11-12). David’s sin was not without consequence (2 Samuel 12:10-11). God forgave the king as he repented of his sins, but his house suffered gravely the consequence of his deeds. Solomon sinned against God and didn’t repent. Solomon chose to walk in the ways and customs of his wives because he loved them more than God. He was lured into idolatry and never repented. Nehemiah 13:26 is a scripture proof that Solomon continued in living sinfully after the ways of his wives. We have no reference in the Bible that Solomon repented of his sins and was forgiven. So, only if we have repented of our sins that God will take us back to him and restore us into the fellowship (Luke 15:11-32).

David was under the Old Covenant, does not apply to us today at all. We are saved by Gods Grace through our faith in His finished work on the cross. Our salvation in this age is ETERNAL, once received the Lord will never leave you. (Jeremiah 30-33)

    • @paeng46
      @paeng46 4 года назад +1

      RICO PARADISE
A covenant made has nothing to do with sinning against God. A covenant is just a testament that sets the condition between the giver and the recipient of the promise. When you sin and disobey God, you will be punished. Hence, the sins of Saul, David and Solomon have nothing to do with it. God’s word is clear-“making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly”(2 Peter 2:6). Ephesians 2:8-9 doesn’t conclude salvation in the context of its entirety. It describes how justification is obtained before God when a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. Justification is not salvation in the fullness of essence. In Christianity, it is just the beginning of the believer’s life, not the end of it. Your faith as a child of God must begin with justification (John 1:12; Romans 4:1-9).

@@paeng46 thanks for sharing bro. We have a lot of preachers teaching differently. Some say salvation cannot be lost some say it can be loose by sinning against God. My personal testimony is, the day I surrendered myself to God, He received me as His own. A lot of times I stumble to sin few times sometimes big time, but God won't let me go, His love is so stubborn that He'll make a way to for me to comeback to Him and realize, sinful life has nothing to offer but suffering horrible consequences. I believe once God receives you as His own son, He'll always be a father to you no matter what although He'll allow you to suffer the consequences of your sins as a discipline so you'll grow up and be more godly.

@bereket siyum Just trying to understand your position (love understanding even if we come away disagreeing). Are you in essence saying that you think people were saved in a different way in the old testament than the new testament? Hebrews 11 seemes to suggest that it always through faith. If its evident that the holy spirit can leave saul and david (psalm 51) thought it was possible, youre saying that somehow post cross, people now dont have an option to reject christ?

    • @joebolling
      @joebolling 4 года назад +2

@bereket siyum , God’s gift of salvation is salvation from past sins... the sins you committed up to the point of learning the truth. That salvation from your past disobedience to God’s commandments won’t be “revoked”, but it also won’t be any good to you if you go on committing new sins of disobedience because there’s no sacrifice for those. That doesn’t mean God can’t or won’t forgive you, but while forgiveness of the old sins merely required faith, forgiveness of new disobedience to God’s commandments means God will make a judgment on what to do with it based on other factors. Complete forgiveness? Discipline? God’s wrath and damnation? Humble yourself, turn from sin in full obedience to his commandments, and plead with God for mercy and forgiveness because he really takes it personal when you spit on the gift of salvation from past sins by going forward in disobedience to his commandments afterward.
