2:03 did u soak the crucible in nitric acid for 12 hours to make sure there's no other component left in there? used deionized water to wash and remove the acid before using? thank you
Yes. You are correct.
Very much practical oriented. Nice 🎉
I want to see further steps for heavy metal analysis (how to determine quantity of any metal pb/cr/zn)...do you have any video on this??
Instead of nitric acid, can i use hydrochloric acid if im trying to determine sodium content ?
So satisfying to watch.
Thank you
9:05 why is there a need to dilute the ash with 1N nitric acid? may we use other acid for this? thank you very much!
Nitric Acid solution is best for heavy metal and mineral analysis
Hello! I just wanted to ask - what is the purpose of the filtering step? What is being filtered out? Thank you!
Filtration is done to ensure that any sort of interference will be filtered out, if any, present in the Ash. Ash particles, which are not dissolved in the diluent, may be filtered out.
Which method dry ashing or wet digestion is suitable for determining minerals in liquid supplements???
Can this method be used for determining heavy metals in plants?
from leaves, roots, and stems?
Yes. You can use
Kindly mention the maximum temperature and hour.
Thank you for your reply
Max temperature is 650 degree celcius and time is 7 hours.
Can we used this method for the determination of heavy metals in water (waste, naturel) ?
if yes, wath is the volume used for sampling? Thank you
Yes. You can. You can use 2ml of sample
can i use this method to determine Calcium, Iron, Copper, Manganese, Zinc, Sodium and Potassium in onion?
Yes you can
In determining heavy metal metals in tea samples , can this method be used ?
Yes. You can use.
I want to analyze some elements in ash salt (filtrate). The ash was already got from burnt plant residue and the ash salt was prepared by leeching water through the ash material. Is it possible to analyze the already prepared ash salt. It is already in solution.
If the ash salt is prepared correctly (complete ash with no black color) then you can test your sample with this solution
Why is it necessary to grind the sample into powdery form before ashing?
Can I use this method to detect heavy metals from cosmetics products like eyeshadow...or should I use wet digestion method
can i use UV-visible spectrophotometer instead of AAS
If you have method for UV then you can prepare your sample by this method.
Great work😊
Thank you
Can this method be used for determining Lead (Pb) in lead sulfide ores and lead contentrates.

Hai want to ask, is it necessary to use filter paper Whatman 42 ? because in my lab just have qualitative filter paper such as Ross 1a, Whatman 1PS, Munktell 1F and MGC..
Yes you can use any of these of smaller pore size among your mentioned filter papers.
If I do dry ashing before and use AAS next day, can I do like that? And what should I do? Because i don't have time enough for it. Thanks for answering
Keep the Ash sample closed to avoid contamination and prepare the sample from ash on the day of analysis in AAS.
Or you can keep and store the prepared solution at 4-8 degree Celsius.
I plan to measure ash content and then measure mineral content and also heavy metals. For heavy metals i would like to use wet digestion method. In your opinion, do i need to make a wet digestion if i already drying ash from measuring ash content before? Thanks in advance!
Yes. For heavy metal analysis, wet digestion is better method than the dry ashing.
@@MicroChemsExperiments okay thank youu btw your videos really helps me 👍🏻
what is the volume of volumetric flask that you use in filtration sample process ? Is it 50ml ?
You are right. 50ml
thank you for the reply :)
why do you use a pen marker? is required special marker stell pin, the pin that uses is no effect disappear in a muffle furnace?
You are absolutely right. Stell pin was not available to us at that moment, thats why we have shown by pen marker.
How i use liquid solution and how it filtered
Your question is not cleared
can we use this method for calcium, phosphorous, mg, mn, iodine, sodium and iron , if yes can we this method by using HCL
Yes
@@MicroChemsExperiments and with hcl also?
Can I store the prepared sample in refrigerator and at what temperature? I want to send the sample to another place because my laboratory don't have AAS. Thank you
Store at 4-8 degree Celsius and maintain that temperature during transportation
Hi. May i know this method suitable for Calcium and Phosphorus? Or wet digestion will ne better.??

Wet Digestion
Can I replace the deionized water with distilled water (aquades)? Thank you
No
What's the different between this Ash method and Total Digestion method?
No idea about total digestion method
Can we used for PVC VN-65L 1 and PP materials?
Not sure about it
Can i use that method for cerels-wheat and maize, and sunflower meal. And any huge loss of mercury with this or not?
You can use this method
hi, can i use this method for determination of arsenic in rice?
Thank to you too
Can this method used for liquid sample in cosmetic sample for example??
Yes. You can
Can we use the crucible without cover or lid
You can but you shouldn't as it may lead to the cross contamination
Magnificent
@Mohammad Shahdat Hossain Thank you sir😊😊

I want to prepare a sample from mango because I need details of the ash content so please give me suggestions about how to prepare a dry sample from mango ie. From fruit.
1. Remove moisture by following this video: ruclips.net/video/DtSH8n1jbyM/видео.html
You will get a dry sample.
2. Determine ash content by following this video: ruclips.net/video/n2Qwb8Pw8YE/видео.html
Do I use microwave oven for sample dry?
It's possible?
Yes. You can use Microwave Oven for drying the sample.
Don't waste water, you can close the tap while rubbing the crucible pot.

in 7:05, if the color still black, does it mean the sample still contain organic matter? is that why we should add some acid?
You are right. Presence of Black color means that the sample still contains organic matters. At this point we add some acid. This addition of acid facilitates to break down the Carbon strong bonds making free carbon which can easily be removed from the sample by applying additional heat.

Sir , what is the need of blank sample in there? please explain me
Blank is needed to minimise the reading of reagent used for this preparation
Dnt need to heat with hno3
Kathuri Kk,
No, Ashing Method dont need any heat with HNO3
I am asking normal microwave oven ( in home)
What did you mean by drying? You must need muffled furnace to make ash.
