As new mtb rider your videos are invaluable. Appreciate the effort that goes into them. I've only ridden Lysterfield and Red Hill and certainly agree that the blues at Red Hill are of a higher difficulty.
Bought my first MTB this arvo, just a lower end budget bike from anaconda. Hoping to grow into the sport and start off at lysterfield!! This is a great video and helped heaps! Thanks legend
Thanks Hamish. I'm trying to talk the missus in coiming out to Lysterfield for her first rides on not green trails. Your video will help give her a better idea of what she's in for. I told her we'd start with Lower Buckle and we can bail and go back by the lake circuit when she's had enough.
Fell in love with Cannondales after watching your vids for a while. Getting back into MTB - purchased a Trail SL3 yesterday. See you on the trails once we're through this lockdown! Hope you're able to get some riding in within your 5km. Thanks for your content.
nice vid, getting a new hardtail soon (not since da 90's)...I'm close to plenty gorge too. I was just planning to ride with my young kids around the parks, but I think trails are going to be the go.
Went yesterday as the Grand Prix was cancelled. I’m very much a beginner but was surprised how tame the blue tracks were. Then again I’m not that quick, and my only comparison is MT Buffalo park and a little bit of the sketchy Yarra Trail river side tracks.
I’m not sure if I’m going to buy the trek dual sport or the trek marlin 5. As a beginner rider on tracks like these do you think the dual sport will be maintain bike enough? I don’t think I’ll be hiring black diamonds just in it for fitness really.
@@ajjono yes the Marlin will be fine 👍🏻. You've gotta start somewhere! trek dual sport might not be quite as suitable. Fine for the gravel portions though.
I’m using a Garmin Edge 520. It depends what you want out of a computer but this was my first one and it did everything I needed when starting out and still does today
Thanks for this greet intro to Lysterfield, for those of us who haven't quite made it there for one reason or another! Damn lock down round 3! Also curious as to what bike computer you use and where you've find it useful with regards to trail maps etc ? Thanks again !
I use a Garmin edge 520. I don’t tend to use it for maps. I bought it for when I was training. For regular trail riding a phone with Strava and trail forks will probably be adequate
if you rinterested hamish @long an winding i am an a older friend re doing a 3 hour ride at wombat mtb park.. meet new the water hole around 10 if u like
I think this loop might be a bit long for beginners. You’re probably looking at a few hrs for 20kms I’d say. Maybe a shorter loop like 10-15kms might be better. You can still start in the same spot though
@@longandwinding very true. A little of each every week just as you do. The perfect mixture. My problem was I heard so much about lystie that I went in with massive expectations. No disrespect for people that put the hard hards in to Maintain the trails for all of us because they have done a fantastic job there.

Thanks for the feedback Ben. Greet motivation!
You’re a legend for showing this! Thanks mate
Perfect! I always get lost there....
Bit of a maze!
I love biking, never been on a mtb trail though, so Im going there sometime, Im excited!
Awesome! I hope you have a great time
nice to see you here, im thinking of doing mtb too

Awesome to hear! Welcome to the sport snd have fun
Thank you so much for the cool videos! I’m watching your riding during lockdown and I feel like I’m back on the trails
Haha good to hear!
Great to see you have done some novis trails. I can never find all the trails in their.

Good to hear! Good luck to her, I’m sure she’ll have fun
Good job as usual Hamish. Some great looking trails for beginners and intermediate riders.
😎👍
Thanks Mark
this brings back memories

Looks like I'm off to Lysterfield tomorrow. Cheers Pal
Enjoy!
great video! Really looking forward to grabbing a bike soon and getting out there!, Thanks
Thanks and enjoy!
I rode this today with a few others, super fun without massive climbing.
Good stuff. Really fun indeed
Such a great video! I love lysterfield. There's so much variety.
Thanks Shannon! Such a great spot, I always forget how much fun it is out there
love the trails here, so good!
Sure is!

Yes it’s very beginner friendly. There are a few more challenging trails out there though - some of which we rode in the group ride vid
Great video. I can't wait to get started.

@@longandwinding Ended up with the Norco Storm 4. All set for lock down to ease!
Awesome! Congrats
sick video

Loved the video! Just wondering what bike computer you have on this video? What bike computer would you recommend for a beginner?

bro I just bought a mountain bike and i'm new... might try this one tomorrow
Enjoy!
I want to get into mountain biking I gave don the loop track but want to do some trails with some obstacles what do you recommend
Lysterfield is a great place to explore further. Lots of obstacles to find as well
Actually for beginners I'll recommend candle bark park brcaus all the trails are easy and there's lots and go w and lots a f chunk
Do u climb up that huge fireroad to north carpark or do u walk it
Climbed that one
@@longandwinding Omg how do u do it, im as fat as a plumb so i cant lol
@@Quiblet the trick is to keep your speed up before, and have momentum to get up
Pog I found a Melbourne mtb rider
I’m going there today with my friend and my dad
Have fun!
Lol just realized lysterfield is acros the road from where I live
if you rinterested hamish @long an winding i am an a older friend re doing a 3 hour ride at wombat mtb park.. meet new the water hole around 10 if u like
training up for a otway odyssey
aswell
Thanks for the offer but I had plans. Hope it was a good one
Maybe come and ride the Comm games, aneurysm and follow me..
Great trails! They're covered in this video: ruclips.net/video/pTqoLL49rFU/видео.html
How long would you say it takes a beginner to average MTBer to do this circuit of blue trails? I'm thinking of taking wife and 9yo son.

Long and Winding - Thanks for the reply. Top work on the channel. Between this and the trail forks app, very helpful!
@@funkafize thanks!
Great video but a little better quality camera would help a lot
Thanks. Out of interest what about the camera was lacking?
Camera was perfectly clear from my view
Video quality looked fine to me
how far is trail mix ?
Details on trailmix here: www.trailforks.com/trails/trailmix/
100km gravel grind or the 100km trail??
I’m doing the Otway Odyssey 100km mtb race on the Saturday - so the trail, not the gravel grind
Why is your fork like that
It’s a Cannondale Lefty
I think i will lost my way as i have no sense of direction.😹 Hopefully, there are some signs for new riders like me...
You’ll get to know the trails after a while. The signage is much better than most trail centres
@@longandwinding Thank you...
All lysterfield beginner trails:
All of them except for granite link
Not entirely true. Comm games and aneurysm are pretty tech
Long and Winding yeah I was just kidding. Comm games is awesome! So much fun!
Great video as always . I find it such a boring network imo. Very over rated. Sylvan and Buxton are much better.
They’ve all got their strengths and weaknesses. Variety is a good thing
