The different Mega Man series aren't reboots at all. There's two continuities: the main timeline and the RPG timeline. The main timeline has the Classic, X, Zero, ZX and Legends series, though Legends was put in after the fact and isn't really connected to the others. The RPG timeline has the Battle Network and Star Force series.
Legends was always meant to be a part of the timeline. It was originally supposed to take place after X4, as it was the original ending of the X series, but Capcom kept pushing it back and they had to keep setting up the fact that their is a satellite system that can destroy the world and a few other details. Then Zero and ZX series happened which takes place between X and Legends.
The X series was actually going to end at X5, not X4. Pushing back the end of the X series only affected the Zero series, not Legends. Elysium is only mentioned in the bad ending of X5, and the city that X actually ended up building was Neo Arcadia, not Elysium. Legends is so loosely connected to the rest of the series that it's clear that placing it in the main timeline was an afterthought.
Violet Rose actually X6, X7 and X8 are all canon with the Zero series and onward, the ending of X6 where Zero is put into hibernation is the ending for the entire X series, it takes place an unprecedented amount of time after X8
They're not reboots... they're different series. Two of which are in different complete universes. The rest all fall into the same timeline and are sequels. That's like saying Super Mario 64 is a reboot to Super Mario Bros.

After his discovery 100 years later, reploids, robots based off of X began to exist. Later, a large group of reploids becomes the maverick hunters, dedicated to hunting down renegade reploids. After they find Zero, the last of Dr. Wily's creations, Sigma, head of the maverick hunters smashes Zero's head crystal, releasing a computer virus that infected sigma, and other maverick hunters, making them go maverick, at the same time as completely erasing zero's memory. As X, you're trying to stop sigma, and the eight other infected hunters. After X1, ... you know what, this is gonna take way too long.

I'd love to see an episode on Shulk, partially because it means that Alax would have to play Xenoblade, but also because I think he has an interesting design. He's much more complex than just "Air Slash is his Up B and is an art in the game," and similar statements. I mean, a lot of Mega Man is straightforward, but Alax made a great episode about him because its more than Know Your Moves; it's Know Your Character Design. And I think Shulk's design, like Captain Falcon's, is trying to evoke the feel of his game. For instance, not all of Shulk's moves come straight from Xenoblade, but even some that do are completely different. The Monado Arts aren't even close to acting as they do in the actual game, as they give Shulk buffs and debuffs rather than simply being attacks. This seems to be an effort to relate to how Xenoblade, as Nintendo's resident game with MMO-inspired gameplay, is all about using having the teammates support each other with buffs and Auras to create a cohesive, stronger unit. The Monado Arts in Smash have cooldowns because Arts in Xenoblade have cooldowns. Activating the Monado is the only way Shulk can have an Aura, and in Smash all of his Monados give him the appearance of an Aura. He isn't using Monado Arts; he's getting Aura buffs. Shulk in Xenoblade might do nothing like this, but that's because Shulk isn't Shulk: he's all of Xenoblade. This can better be seen in his characterization. In the actual game, Shulk is a serious, anti-social nerd, but in Smash, he's chipper and says silly lines. Xenoblade is somewhat (in)famous for all of the ridiculous lines characters say in battles. "Shulk time" isn't even a thing, as it's actually "Reyn time." But since the absurdity of "Now it's Reyn time" is so beloved by Xenoblade fans it must be manifested in Smash. The chipper humor of the entire cast is manifested through Shulk himself in Smash bros, amalgamating the mood of the game to result in a not-entirely-honest portrayal of the character. Shulk also has such a powerful counter because the game emphasizes knowing what the enemy is going to do and preventing that from happening. Visions are an in-game counter that can be extremely powerful, especially once Shulk gets all of his skills, and can completely shut down an enemy's effectiveness. Thus, in Smash, if you read what your opponent is doing, you get one of the most powerful counters in the game. Of course, in Smash, it doesn't always work, being one of the most whiffable ones. Appropriately countering a vision is Xenoblade can be hard to pull off. These are only a few things, and I'm busy, but I'm sure Alax could find even more. In many ways, Shulk feels nothing like he does in Xenoblade as he does in Smash, but I think the way he was ported into the game was very interesting and worth further analysis. It certainly isn't a simple "Back Slash is an art in the game, Visions are things in the game, hur dur."
I was a little worried about this one, because I am a hardcore MegaMan fan. So... Here's a list of things you missed: Mega Man's Dash attack is not based on how Mega Man uses the weapons, but how Top Man uses it in battle. The way hyper bomb is used in smash is more reminiscent to how Bomb Man uses it in Powered Up when played as. Mega Man's jump sound was lifted from MM7 Mega Man's slide actually doing damage may be a reference to MM5's Charge kick or MM7's hidden battle mode The charge blast seems to be based on the incarnation in MM5 in size and power Mega Man's Up and Down Smash cause him to vent energy after used, as two busters overheat him. This is a reference to the climax of Super Adventure Rockman

I really liked your little speech on game design. Video games are art and art can be done in a bunch of different ways, just like design. Some people are just quick to label things as "badly designed" because they don't like it when it could just be that they're not the target audience. We'd stifle the creativity in our favorite series if we just all followed the same rules every time.

Yes. This. All of this. I was born too late for the releases of the Megaman Classic and SNES Megaman X series, but when I discovered them, I was so motivated to play them. When I finally got the bootleg NES/SNES hybrid I own along with 5 out of the 6 original NES games, I instantly knew that I had found my calling in life or some such shit.

Especially his final smash, witch is a combo of the moves Mat Block, Night Slash and Smack Down.
Smack Down is a Rock-Type move where a Pokemon throws a rock at the opponent... Greninja doesn't do that.
