Thanks Malcolm, was nice to have a tour with London as the destination for a change to give a couple of locations in the afternoon! I didn't make the two 50s had to work. All the best Ashley
It's a shame that west coast 57 on rear pushing il remember years ago used to stand on bridge in the 70s near welwyn North watching them coming and going hear for miles away the noisey class 55 was great my granddad was one of the drivers from King's Cross had badges from the railway and blue uniform with br on the silver buttons 😮 them stripe shirt and tie good old days 😅
My wife's Grandad was a train driver on the ECML, starting with steam and moved to Deltics then 125s. Yes it was a shame the 57 was pushing, I believe it was required to keep the tight timings on the busy stretch of the ECML! Thanks for the comment Ashley
Is it me, and I know the electrification makes trains quieter, but wasn't it better when we had an engine at the front of the train, and that lovely zing only of the carriages? The modern engine at each end make for a noisier experience
Certainly EMUs make for a quiet and comfortable journey but not as exciting as loco hauled trains! When I used to get the train to college I made a point of getting the one service that was a an old slam door 423 4VEP class just for the variety and something different. I usually film steam only but make an exception for Deltics! Thanks for the comment Ashley
Hiya, thanks for the comment! The diesel was needed to help at London Kings Cross, it would of taken the tour out of the station after the outward leg and somewhere near to turn and then take the tour back in again for the diesel to lead for the return leg! All the best Ashley
@@alts1985 I had no clue and many thanks. I learned something. A tip for future writing though (please forgive me): the contraction of would have is would've, not would of.
Lovely video ,the lovely Deltic is the best diesel train in the world 😊
Thanks for the kind comment! Certainly agree that Deltics are by far and away the best diesels! Ashley
I love deltic ❤❤❤
Me too!
Good catch - I completely forgot about this... thanks for uploading... Fingers crossed I'll be able to get out for the pair of 50's running tomorrow !

The Napier roar returns to the east coast mainline just as it did in the 1970s
Certainly did! Thanks for the comment! Ashley

Why a class 47 at the end
To do stock movements at KX, Cleethorpes and Ulceby. Reversing at these points.
Thanks for the reply! Ashley
Sounds like the 47 was doing most of the work. Was D9009 on one engine again?
009 was having issues with second engine
Thank you for the reply! Ashley

A diesel hauling the huge deadweight of another diesel at the rear: why is that?

That's a cheating 55, the 47 is thrashing
Yes it certainly was giving it a helping hand! Thanks for the comment Ashley
