And a very important president too. Everyone thought he was going to be a party machine toady but ended up reforming the federal government by virtually eliminating the spoils system in which federal offices and jobs were filled in return for election and political favors and replaced with a civil service system consisting of professionals based on skills and competence.
Fannie is wearing same Charlie Chaplin sweater that Elaine Joyce wore a few weeks back. And a contestant wore a nearly identical one except it featured Laurel & Hardy
Gene and the panel look pretty boneheaded when they keep making fun of "President Arthur." Chester A. Arthur was President of the United States from 1881 until 1885.
Sure, but they act as though he said "Dee Arthur" or "Pope Arthur" which would be completely dumb answers (Cuckoo Fran And Ollie anyone?). Chester Arthur or President Arthur is at least a legitimate real person named Arthur. Bea Arthur, the $250 response, was even a blood relative, a cousin. If I say the names President Polk, President Hayes, President Fillmore, et cetera, Americans should at least recognize they were real people.
He got screwed! She got one of the easiest first round questions ever with “elephant trunk”…I mean what else would an elephant use to plug up a hole in the ark for crying out loud?!? Gene used to say, “we try to make the questions of equal difficulty” but clearly they didn’t always try so hard!
I think he misunderstood the intention of the game as trying to come up with a unique answer, rather than a generic one that everyone else would think of... His reasoning for discarding "black eye" and his choice of "Franklin Roosevelt" were just so illogical and out of left field.
He didn't choose "Black eye" because, "It was too obvious". Umm... Maybe he thought the name of the game was "Obscure answers to obvious questions". They hate themselves SO much that they purposely avoid success.
By "they" do you mean black people? If so, keep your racist comments off the board. A lot of people mess up at that stage. And if you paid attention, you would have heard that he is already successful in his job. Winning or losing on Match Game has nothing to do with being successful in life (as fun as it may be). Always one jerk in every conversation . . .
It (infertility) really wasn't much of a problem then, but it was considered too sad, personal, and _indelicate_ to mention, let alone make a joke about. Mentioning bras, doo-doo, and tinkling was pushing the envelope plenty back then.
Contestant Michael doesn't get how to play the match game. If black eye is the obvious answer , that would make it the most popular and winning answer. SMH 🙄
ROFL! Another fine after dinner episode! :0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Fannie! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Charles! ;0) Thank you Gene.. ;0) Allen, Brett and Charles beat Richard.. ;0) goat..
Elephant can't eat, use the poop after the poop has dried. Betty White would be very mad at the six. Poop is plenty, stuff more in when the hole is visible. 11-4-2021
Allen Ludden is such a class act.
Anthony martin
He truly was!
LOL @ CNR playing a pan pipe in the opening credits. HAHA God I loved him.
Oh, good. Richard found Brett's earring.
Information about "Masquerade Party" (the show Richard was talking about) can be found at www.imdb.com/title/tt0140747/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_30
Richard Dawson mentioned "Masquerade Party". One of the guests on the show was Charles Nelson Reilly who was disguised as Harpo Marx.
Was it funny?
@@pencils812 It was average. That's why it didn't last long.
I love Brett so much she's so beautiful. ❤️
Sweet to remember her with a fan club.
They gave Allen such a hard time about "President Arthur". There really was such a president in the 19th century.
Chester Alan Arthur, vice-president who succeeded to the presidency 2 months after Garfield was assassinated.
@@cister30328 even Gene made fun of him !

He was also crucial to the plot of Die Hard 3.

Yes EP 152 l wonder if Fannie knew !! Brett n Fannie were best friends and maybe Brett told Fannie and l can see Fannie saying "l wear it better" !!
Allen and Brett were so funny together!
She's hysterically funny and I love her! I'm not sure if Allen was genuinely annoyed or just playing off her for fun.
This is the only occasion I've ever seen Richard Dawson decline a woman's kiss!
That didn’t start until sometime into the run of “Family Feud.”
From what I’ve read, Masquerade Party ran until fall ‘75, and only one episode is known to exist (you can find a couple of clips on here).
And I think it finished the 1975 with the show in reruns..
Wow.
Gene and the panel look pretty boneheaded when they keep making fun of "President Arthur." Chester A. Arthur was President of the United States from 1881 until 1885.
He was, but he's not one of the biggies that anyone would think of.

Euell Gibbons was a "Meter Eater."
I felt a little bad for Michael, he gave the definitive answer with made 💘 with his boots on, in a perfect 🌎 he woulda tied it up

Panelists:
1. Allen Ludden
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Joyce Bullifant
5. Richard Dawson
6. Fannie Flagg
Micheal lost me when he said Franklin Roosevelt
Ugh
Michael was too serious
The poor guy seemed very nervous.

Watch it Brett! Did Richard say he would never leave Gene at the beginning? But he did years later..
What a difference a few years can make. They used the Miss Kitty routine again 2 years later and everyone responded with make love
And Richard said slept.....I would've expected something different from him.
8:31 LMAO look the Allen's face, I love Brett
How about at 16:10 when Brett says she'll kiss him on the mouth.
You must be blind when you say that” I love Brett” the only person that loves Brett is herself.
Wasn't Tip O'Neal Speaker of the house in '74? I thought he was.
Gene and Brett would probably think that was a dumb answer like President Arthur.
Charles seemed a bit off tonight
Laurie is a whoa what a beautiful personality to match.

My question to Brett, "Can you shut up for a whole 30 seconds?"
It's like it's "The Brett Somers Show"
What does “(With Slate)” mean in the title?
The small chalkboard Johnnie Olsen is reading from at the beginning of the show.
This is a slate board!! 🎬🎬🎬
Brett Somers wants all the attention. She's Sooo Annoying
Laurie Healy - wow!!
