Did anyone else notice how Koishi's 3rd eye is open at the first half? Then it's closed at the other part and everything changed to insanity... At 0:14 walking Koishi looks normal, and has her 3rd eye open. At 1:17 she is walking with her 3rd eye closed and her eyes look kind of tired...
Lets see, in general order of apperance: Koishi: Alongside Yukari, is the only one to have come back from the dead and has survived the fall of Gensokyo. At the moment, she is currently inhabiting a fully converted world that has had its true feelings released to create a dystopia of Satori people with a begrudged and guilt-ridden Yukari wracked with survivor's guilt. Seems like the odds are stacked against them, but who knows? Keine: Got half her face incinerated, forced to temporarily incapacitate Mokou from burning anymore villagers and died surrounded by those who loved her. Arguably got the peaceful sendoff considering Gensokyo was doomed in the next few hours. Reisen: Had her leg hammered in by Tewi, Misery style but she got better. Later on in the last stand of Gensokyo, she was the first casualty after foolishly trying to talk sense into Watatsuki no Yorohime and paid the price of being sliced in half. Aya: Initially a spectator during the madness plague, its honestly unsure what happens to her, though by process of elimination one could assume she turned into a Kaiju and attacked the outside world, only to be silenced by the Lunarians. Cirno: The first to be subjected to a glimpse of the madness plague by being attacked by a crazed Daiyousei, she initially had the upper hand in a nail-biting battle with a psychopathic Star Sapphire. Unfortunately, due to having selective memory loss, she sustained a critical injury via a chainsaw to the face. However, in a decisive final blow, she uses up all of her power in a last ditch suicide move which kills both her and Star Sapphire. Satori: Arriving on earth possibly hundreds if not thousands of years ago, Satori has been a pawn to Watatsuki no Toyohime and her plans to enacting the Moon Descent plan and driving Koishi to closing her third eye. Reluctantly going along with the plan, she's partially responsible for starting the whole madness to begin with. As of now, her physical body has been destroyed and her eye form is kept as a pet with Watatsuki no Toyohime in their plans. Koakuma: It's always the ones you least expect. Perverted by the fantasy of wishing to be by Patchouli's side forever, she is also primarily responsible for the madness plague that swept Gensokyo, acting as a frail innocent bystander until she showed her true colours. As of right now, she keeps Patchouli in a one-sided love, who is now borderline catatonic due to seeing everyone she love die on a dystopian earth. Patchouli: Once regarded as the unmoving library and one of Remilia's most trusted assets, she is currently living in a catatonic state after watching Gensokyo and all of her Scarlet Residence friends die horrifically, furthermore being traumatised that she let Koakuma enact the madness plague under her nose without any knowledge of it happening. O'rin: Unaware of Satori's plans and trying to relocate her to safety from a brutal beating from Remilia and Patchouli for trying to apologise about Koishi's actions, her kindness becomes her undoing as Satori decapitates her in a swift strike. Yuyuko: One of the many subjected to the madness plague of the full moon, her trait of being a glutton became amplified to a savage and cannibalistic degree as she ate her esteemed gardener and head chef, Youmu alive; all while claiming she was delicious. Compliments to the chef? Youmu: The late snack of Lady Yuyuko. Once a gardener, samurai and chef to her mistress, she was slowly eaten alive and chopped up for Yuyuko to take as a picnic to the now dried up Sanzu River. Fujiwara no Mokou: Another result of the madness plague, she almost scorched an entire village to ashes and incinerated just as many people in doing so. Briefly incapacitated by her best friend Keine in trying to protect the remaining villagers, but wasn't properly killed due to being an immortal. Later came back as a Phoenix-looking Kaiju which rampaged and promptly reduced Brazil to ashes. Finally was put down by a Lunarian mech which could negate her Hourai immortality; her last memory as part of the living being her playing football with her father. Ran Yakumo: Was kidnapped alongside her Shikigami, Chen by a clone of Reisen who tortured and gutted her open, but not before using her as both psychological warfare and a walking bomb stuffed full of explosives in her stomach, promptly killing her and Yukari. Oh, and Chen also was used as an explosive as well to finish off Yukari as well. Sakuya: The second person to have encountered Koishi in the series whilst she was affected by the madness plague, she was last seen tending to Meiling, who just prior, had her throat slashed out all the way to the bone by Koishi with a knife. She is last seen fighting a recovering Meiling who was affected by the madness plague too, so it is assumed she became a Kaiju alongside her once friend turned opponent. Meiling: The first victim of Koishi and the starting point of all this madness. Originally guarding the gate of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she was confronted by Koishi who wanted to acquire a fishing rod, however when she declined and became agitated at her persistence, such as climbing the gate and smacking her to lose her hat, she paid the unfortunate price in getting her throat slashed clean out. Later on, she was seen recovering in Eientei before succumbing to the madness and engaging Sakuya in battle. It is assumed she becomes a Kaiju as well to terrorise the outside world and is promptly killed by the Lunarians.
I haven't properly watched KKHTA series, but this intro has the same vibes as classic jazz songs being played in Bioshock/Fallout 3. The music's cheeriness and wholesomeness make a stark contrast with the overall insanity and dystopian visual theme.
You might like it. You might hate it. It's not something you really "get" until a few eps in since the first few eps are very short and intentionally look like a shitty crayon drawing. It starts getting pretty good around ep... I think 6. There's also a few other of these story driven animatics. Another good one to check out is Osana Reimu and its sequel ReiReimu. If you want more horror Grotesque Land Story is another option though its not fully translated.
except that Satori didn't die in this video. It shows satori on the ground, koishi freaking out, and then satori fine again. She was just severely injured.
KKHTA was a fanmade psychological horror series based on Touhou. This opening doesn't have anything really, but if you watch the whole thing... Then you understand.
I see what they did there. They translated Koshi's theme into german :D (even if I would translate it in "Hartmanns Youkaimädchen", I don't think we have a translation for youkai)
Well, youkai could also be called ghosts or apparitions (to my knowledge, please don't kill me if this is wrong) and thus it'd be called "Hartmanns Geistermädchen".
About that translation of youkai, you can, acc. to translation, choose between: ghost, apparition, phantom, demon, monster, spectre, goblin. But in that case, 'ghost' would be the most logical one.
*slight spoilers ahead!* I told my friend I was watching Koishi Komeiji's Heart Throbbing Adventure and he said I was watching anime. And then I showed him what happened to Meiling. His perspective changed soon after.
By the barely contained, terrified laughter that I end up with every time I watch this, I think I'm gonna end up about as messed up as Koishi. ...Gentlemen.....
I am german : well the japanese dude/gal might have made a small cute mistake, because 'Youkai' has no real translation in german. It could be translated as a ghost -Geist- or a demon -Dämon- . It would be correct like -Hartmanns Youkai Mädchen-. Just saying.
It remeinds me a little but of Salad Fingers in the sense that it's a rather demented series, yes. And the artwork for the first few episodes in both series are similar to eachother.
@xziled2 It's not suppose to. It's made to lure in with its deceptively Tastes Like Diabetes beginning then make you uncomfortable by inserting some disconcerting foreshadowy images that reveals the true face of the series.
Such a cute song, it's the song that will play when everyone looses their sanity.
