    I sail an elderly ex charter Beneteau First 501 so this is not the kind of yacht I know much about, however? A few years ago I was in a Marina near Palma and got talking to a couple who had a 70 foot Horizon berthed there. Due to my charm and wit, my wifes puts it down to the wine, we were invited to go up the coast with them for lunch the following day. This was his second Horizon and was still in it's first season. He explained why he had chosen to buy from them including a couple of visits to the yard in Taiwan. He had looked at others, two based in the south of England that I won't name but are obvious. As he detailed litttle bits to me it became obvious the care and craftmanship that had gone into it. But what do I know, I sail a very old ex charter Beneteau .😀Merry Christmas everyone.🎄

    Clever and a 75 foot yacht are rarely shared concepts as mere size is the attraction. But this Horizon has disproved that notion.Roomy. Grand accommodations. Flexible layout. This has it all. Thanks, Nick and thanks to Horizon for creating this masterpiece of functional, floating art.

    Horizon is an Asian brand that caters to North American customers, and I love seeing the different takes on design. When you look at a Princess you see a boat by people who's seas are the med or the Baltic, this is built by people who look out onto the huge Pacific. You wouldn't see these too much in the Med but you would around Hawaii. Lovely boats and it's great that Nick shows you everything not just the big Wow boats.

    I would go for a skylounge + mid bridge delete. And put the galley up where the mid bridge was deleted. Would open up the main lounge area lots.
    With these under 24mtr yatchs, I find it a waste that they don't configure the rear "crew cabin" access layout much more like a guest access layout, so that the crew cabin area could be made into a guest cabin instead for no crew.

    • @LordLauderdale
      @LordLauderdale 7 месяцев назад +1

      Great proposals for a better used layout. The crew area is almost kitted out like a guest area including easy access from the cockpit and would suit kids well.

    • @keithianlocke
      @keithianlocke 7 месяцев назад

      @@LordLauderdale I think some issue with providing much more of a "guest cabin" access to the crew area is the design of larger cockpit and possibly the engine room further back on this yatch. I doubt a staircase further forward where the crew bathroom is would be possible, to allow a deck access at the main deck structure.
      I do prefer under 24mtr yachts which have the layout with potential of aft guest cabins.
      For that kind of money, I'd rather buy a Johnson 87 skylounge and do a couple million refit.

    I love the exterior design of this one. The forward raked windshield normally gives it a trawler look but not in this case, the lines make this one look really sharp and stylish. Blown away with the vast volume they've packed into a 75ft boat. Thanks nick for another marvellous tour!

For me that bow cabin is ideal as owners accommodation whether or not it's the best position for a bedroom in less inclement weather could be debatable 🤔 The alternative access to the errant son/daughters latest squeeze cabin is brilliant if at sea in not perfect weather too, no accidently left open transom doorway 🧐 All academic of course unless the lottery came up trumps 😎 Cheers DougT

    I'm surprised about the small door into the bow space in the second guest cabin. If you hit something and flood by the bow, that water is going straight into the guest sleeping area. If you were going to put a door there, you'd think at least it would be a water-tight one.

    Whether you like Horizon or not (I like), there is absolutely no denying that they always give you an amazing amount of usable space on every size FD model. When Nick opened up that day head on the flybridge, my mouth dropped- WHAT? They killed it with that. Also, the amount of customization they offer means there's an option to make it just right for the owners' needs. The hard part would be choosing one over the other. Of course, if you had enough money, I guess you could just grab a few of them with different layouts. I'll take this layout this month, next month I'll take the other one.😂
    Hmm, wonder if you could make the lower helm an open raised galley with bar stools and just a huge salon?

    It seems much larger than a 75-foot boat. It has pretty good speed also with a 17-knot cruise speed.

    Just for the fun if it, have you ever considered a tour of a commercial fishing vessel? I think it would be a lot of fun to dig into a new one 👍

    Interesting. Not my favorite Horizon layout but yes very roomy (as the Horizons tent to be). For where I live, (Southern Australia) and if I had the funds, this type of boat is useless to me as I'd need a Cat A (blue sea/open water ) and lovely as they are they aren't suitable . 😞 Great tour as ever Nick, thank you, love ya work 🙂

    Very interesting design concepts. It's massive for 75 feet, I would like to see it designed as a displament Hull.
    Reckon could get 2k range.
    I would opt for no lower helm, enclose and create sky lounge, even put bulk head to create separate helm space on the upper deck. 4 really good sized cabins, what's not to like

      @@Navy1977 - Any shot down the port side of the yacht pretty much. You can see it quite well at 10:28 and 13:26. It's shimmying across the line from the port side of the FD75 to the starboard side of the Horizon berthed next to it.

    what would impress me if it had Murphy style beds or beds that pop out of walls. It's not a princess y95 but it seems to do the job.

    Like the upper deck and possible options for the helm and the protective enclosure for crew access is novel and useful.
    Thank you for the tour Nick
