I will agree with Dani. Chelsea is revolutionizing their salary structure and looking at all those signed from last summer, nobody earns 200k. They are limiting their wage bill. Salary increment should be based on merits
I think the 120k is base wage . Most of chelsea players are on incentivized wages meaning if Chelsea qualify for ucl or win major honors his money will increase .

Please all these non Chelsea fans should know that before any contract is signed players have agents and lawyers and they are given a copy of their contract to read for several days or months b4 a date is fixed for signing. No one is forced to sign any contract. Secondly the contract states if he performed better again his salary will be looked into for more increase. That contract does not say he will stay on 120k per week forever. Take note that upon his performance his salary will continue to increase.

Signing a 9 year contract doesnt automatically means he will be at chelsea for 9 years, it was just to increase hes sale value if he played well, chelsea can still sell him, and he might also decide to go, so its not living in bondage, its just pure business, why is barca putting 1 billion release clause on players and they are signing, why is that not called living in bondage.

I'm a fan of the podcast and i think the guys have interesting opinions usually. However, i believe they're really uninformed about the wage structure at chelsea. Chelsea are backing up basic wage with performance incentives. Cole palmer took this deal because he backs himself to perform. Also, the contract can be improved going forward. To say that this is what he'll earn till the end of the contract is a myopic way to look at it. The basic wage can be improved even whilst maintaining the contract length. What chelsea's new owners are doing is protecting themselves from paying high wages for low performing players. Perform well, get paid more. Perfect in my opinion.
