I stayed at the same university for my PhD as I did for undergrad so I already knew all the professors, had a lab, and a good support system of friends. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it would be to change universities or even countries for a PhD. I have so much respect for international students, especially non-native speakers. My biggest tip to avoid burnout is to attempt making it a 9 to 5 and try to leave the work at the lab/office as much as possible. The only times I work at home is when I’m on a deadline for a manuscript or proposal.
Absolutely love this tip - thank you so much for sharing! Leaving work at the office can be challenging but so much needed, I will definitely try to implement this as much as possible!
