I would not have thought to bend, nor to use colour to make it look more realistic, nor did I think fussy cutting was an art in itself, but wow, what a difference! Well done, Lucy!
Lucy pretty to explain these cards is an understatement, These cards are absolutely stunning! This video is amazing and so very helpful have watched/listened to it on loop nearly all day just in case I missed something. I have to go have a chuppa chub now just to get the loli pop stick for a new crafting tool lol, thank you so much for sharing, Lucy have a great crafty day
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t “love” the white border. Most of the time on videos it’s the big elephant in the room that stands out like a sore thumb and no one dares mention it. Your tips on inking and shaping really are transformative!
I am a "crazy" fussy cutter, I fussy cut when I watch TV, when I babysit, went I'm in bed...it's addictive! I wonder who was the dumb bunny was who thought diecuts should have a border around them, especially flowers and leaves. I've never seen a leaf with a border around it ! Lucy your cards are beautiful, if my flower cards are raised up with foam and I want to post it I add a piece of bubble wrap on top of the card when placing it in the envelope. Thank you for your great ideas.
I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only "crazy fussy cutter" hehe!! I'm like you, I enjoy cutting while watching TV, it's a great combination! Oh thank you for that great tip about adding bubble wrap on top of the card, I love that idea! XOX
Excellent tutorial, Lucy! I have been making cards for over 20 years long before die cutting was around so fussy cutting was the only way to pop up images for dimension. The trend at that time was to leave a white edge around it. I recently found myself fussy cutting some patterned paper and found it enjoyable.and relaxing. Actually, it's not a bad idea to fussy cut after you have used the die cutter if there is too much white edge. I really appreciate the tips on using the craft knife as I could never really get the hang of it: sometimes it worked, sometimes I ripped the paper to shreds. I totally agree that the cards are lovely. Your sister will just love hers.
Dear Lucy. I have just come across your video., Being fairly new to You Tube. Our country 's Post Office have almost all closed down , so there is no income to come in for cards. So I have taken all my stash (Gosh, I never realized I had so much.🙄) So I have been making use of my stash for a year now. I got. Some lovely ideas from you, not to mention tips. Thanks so much.
I am watching from London Ontario I am redesigning my craft room so I can't get to my tools and paper. I am a fussy cutter. My friend hands hers and says you like fussy cutting so you do it. I am thoroughly enjoying your video
Thank you for showing the fussy cutting. I will certainly try this and keep trying until I get a good result. I love the way it looks in the end. Doing this work for a special card would be worth the time. You are certainly good at this. Thank you so much for showing and sharing. I certainly liked the second choice. Beautiful cards.
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on this video. I love your attitude towards it, as the more fussy cutting you do the better (and easier) it becomes. Happy crafting XOX
Beautiful cards and you certainly bought those flowers to life as always, Your tips on fussy cutting are appreciated, I need all the help I can get 😂Thanks Lucy and have a beautiful day xx
I consider myself a pretty decent fussy cutter and I do actually enjoy doing it! But, I learned several new things from this video. I was amazed at the difference a little ink on the edges and the use of a popsicle stick to shape the leaves made! I also never did finish cutting with a craft knife, not my strong suit, but going to give it a try. Some of those tiny area’s are impossible to cut with a scissors! Thanks so much!
Hi Lucy, I get such joy watching other card making crafters, and seeing their techniques and style. Your cards are absolutely beautiful, and I am amazed at the lengths you go to fussy cut all the white even from the foliage. Well done you! I fussy cut only when I have to, and I use the Cutter Bee scissors as they are small, and they are sharp and a very pointy tip. So happy that you have found a pair of fussy cutting scissors that suit you, and they look so much better than the first two. I didn't know that Uniquely Creative are Australian... that is so good to see, and it is always nice purchasing local if possible. It is so nice to have found your YT channel, and I am looking forward to seeing your earlier videos. God's blessings and love from Aussie Gloria 🐨🦘💖
Hi Gloria! I’m so glad you found my channel too 😁. Yes isn’t it great that Uniquely Creative are an Aussie company and sooo good, I’m so proud to be on their design team as they have the best paper collections. Enjoy your Sunday evening Xox

You know how to put a big smile on my face, thank you so much for this sweet message! I'm so happy you tried the lollipop stick bending technique with your flowers and leaves and loved it, don't they look so good this way? I bet your friend will love her wedding card. Hugs right back 🥰🥰XOX
I Love fussy cutting and struggle with half to design with them. This video helps me be inspired to just do it! Thank you for sharing your crafting with us!
I do like fussy cutting. I do it in the evening while I’m listening to an audiobook and find it relaxing. Then I keep the items in small clear bags so I can choose from them later. I also mix and match from different papers, old cards etc. For example using rises from various places and making a pretty cluster or a vase of flowers. ( just cutting a vase shape in a coordinating colour of card. ) Your cards are lovely and I have more ideas on bending the shapes and inking them too. Thanks.
I love these cards, but I have to choose the first as my favorite. I absolutely love the muted colors, and the fussy cutting was out of this world! Thank you so much for posting this!♥️🙏🏻
I am a fussy cutter, but I find it tedious. Adding some of the special touches to the finished product adds to the sense of reward and accomplishment. I practiced the art of scherenschnitte 30 years ago. You are correct that fingers get cramped after awhile. I find that I use some of your techniques. Today I make mini albums and greeting cards. These are very beautiful cards Lucy, your sister will love hers, Happy Birthday to her 🎶 Thank you for the tips, I'm doing more fussy cutting these days and now I know how to make it look even better, as you say it gives us so many more options with our beautiful papers. As always I find watching you create very inspiring 🌼 Bonnie
Thank you so much for all your tips. I struggle with fussy cutting and making things look good. Wow, what a difference ink blending the edges and bending around a stick does. I might have to get some of this scissors too
Wow Lucy this was an amazing tutorial and an eye opener for me. I have been making cards for a good many years but have never wanted to fussy cut anything - I would avoid it like "the plague". But a few weeks ago, I bought the Sweet Magnolia collection to make an album for my granddaughter as well as some cards but still baulked at the fussy cutting element page. Now after watching this video I can't wait to give it a go. The way you made those 2 beautiful cards with such "life" to them was amazing and I hope I can get as good a result as you did. Thanks Lucy
That's so exciting to hear you're excited to try the fussy cutting of the Sweet Magnolia paper now, I love that! I hope you enjoy it, the more you practice the easier and more fun it becomes XOX
What a difference the few techniques you show makes to your cards, turns from plain to gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Now that I have subscribed to your channel my cards will also be gorgeous!
What a fabulous informative tutorial. I am fairly new to fussy cutting and by no means good at it. Some great tips and tricks here, so thank you so very much. Beautiful cards. So love your channel. 😊
I'm so glad you found this video tutorial helpful and you love my channel ☺! I hope this helps to know that fussy cutting gets easier (and quicker) the more you do it. Have a fab day 🤗❤
Hi Lucy, I’m down the road from you in Geelong. I enjoy fussy cutting but I really like what you do with the Lollipop stick. I absolutely love your cards from today. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
I like to fussy cut too! You have given me tips to get better at this! Also the bending makes a big difference. I will use this with some ephemera I have as well. Thank you!
Love these tips Lucy! I have neuropathy so fussy cutting is the bane of my card accessories! I’m persevering though! I also am not a fan of white edges on purchased ephemera. I’ve used tombow to darken the cut edges but I will use more of my distress inks! I love how realistic it makes the object! Also the curling. I’ve started doing that and I agree it makes a big difference. Thank you so much for these and other tips. As a fairly new card maker these tips will help me grow. Love your channel🩷, thank you.
Lucy, yes,i am a fussy cutter but i don't bend the flowers or the leaves . I enjoy watching everyone who has been sharing their card making ! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY !
I really enjoyed your process and instruction regarding fussy cutting this is something I have struggled with but I will not surrender lol. I keep working on it. And your cards are stunninig. Thank you for sharing. O enjoyed it. I do craft with you sometimes. ❤
I love fussy cutting and making my own ephemera! I need to find those scissors because the handles look very comfortable! Thanks so much for sharing all your tips and technics.
I love making ephemera from fussy cutting too! Yes, these scissors were a game changer for me. You can check them out here bit.ly/48Bi622 - thanks so much for subscribing, I hope you enjoy more of my videos ☺❤❤
Gorgeous thank you. I didn’t think I needed new scissors until I watched this.. I definitely get that tiny tear at the junction when I’m fussy cutting. Love the shaping and the inking, really brings them alive 😊
Another useful item to curl edges is a Capri Sun straw (cleaned and dried, of course); just a tip for all you moms and grandmas out there! The white border is appropriate for certain looks, but the full fussy cut to the borders of the picture looks so much more authentic. Thanks for an informative video!
@@lucypatrick It's a line of drinks in little pouches for kids. They come with a disposable straw with a pointed end to puncture the pouch and sip the drink. The straws are pretty much the same size as a lollipop stick.

Thanks Lucy :) I am back from a trip to Africa and am now catching up with RUclips. My friend told me you had done this specially for me! Not exactly, but thank you anyway. It's a great video for me to keep as a reference. By the way my friend has got hooked too!
Hi Lorna! I did try to reply to your friend via email but it kept being rejected for some unknown reason. I hope you had a lovely holiday, Africa would have been amazing I'm sure! You definitely inspired that video, did you hear I mentioned you in it, I hope I answered all your questions on fussy cutting 😀. Have a great day 🤗❤❤
@lucypatrick yes I did hear you mention me. My friend just laughed when she heard it Knew it had to be me as I am always mentioning your videos. I saw her today and she had a bunch of flowers she was cutting out. She is hooked lol Thanks again for your inspiration
Thankyou Lucy for your tips on fussy cutting. I hate fussy cutting as I'm not good at it but now I'm thinking perhaps it's my scissors, I use the Tim Holtz small scissors . Both of your cards turned out beautiful.
Thanks Lea. I haven't tried the Tim Holtz scissors myself but I did watch someone with a Tim Holtz pair recently and when they snipped the paper, it tore slightly at the end so maybe they're not as sharp as the Uniquely Creative ones. If this happens when you snip then you'll know the UC ones may be a better fit (I hope this makes sense) XOX
Thank you for sharing your fussy cutting tips! You make fussy cutting look easy and fun! Love watching your design process, too, and how you arrive at such beautiful cards!
Yes for sure! I love to fussy cut while I'm watching a show or sports that I don't need to look at much, one where I can listen mostly and look up occasionally is perfect for fussy cutting 😀❤
Thanks Lucy! Such a useful video, I love the use of the ink on the leaves, it really brings the image alive. I find fussy cutting quite mindful, I have a very busy head & find it hard to calm my mind but fussy cutting works a treat! I’m having my morning coffee (in the UK) and fussy cutting at my kitchen table while listening to you ❤ xx
Hi Elaine, I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this video. I totally agree about the fussy cutting, I find it very relaxing for my mind too. I love to listen to something and just sit and cut away. Have a fabulous Easter Xox
Wow Lucy. Your work is exquisite. I loved the idea of shaping and colouring the I,ages a bit to highlight them. The cards are beautiful. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦

I'm new to this particular art form, and I knew right away that fussy cutting was going to be a challenge. So glad I happened up on your video with so many tips and tricks.

Thank you so much, and yes, I agree sometimes it can ruin the look of a card. XOX
I agree 💯 percent no white border 😊😮😊
I’m terrible at fussy cutting but with these tips I’ll try again. I dislike the white borders when I purchase ephemera. Thank you!
I find that a cotton bud with the buds removed are good for shaping flowers and leaves..
Oh yes, that’s a great “moulding stick” option Xox

@@lornaholliday54 I love that, you guys are too sweet! Thank you 😊❤❤
Thankyou Lucy for your tips on fussy cutting.
Thanks Cindy XOX
I have liked all so far❤❤❤
Thanks for the tips and they are lovely cards
Thank you so much XOX
Wow that's detailed stuff! I can see cutting them while watching TV or something.
Yes for sure! I love to fussy cut while I'm watching a show or sports that I don't need to look at much, one where I can listen mostly and look up occasionally is perfect for fussy cutting 😀❤
Love your work, so beautiful, thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks so much 😊♥️♥️
Thanks Lucy!
